View 4 RepliesWhen I open layer manager, it doesnt show my layers, it is just all blank, not even a "0" layer. I can click in the area and it shows the layer but that is it. I searched for a fix but was unable to find a fix. I have updated my graphics card driver but that didnt fix it. I have attached a screen shot to show what it looks like. I am running C3D 2009.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing where I need to open the layer manager to turn on a layer in a view port but cannot get to that particular column. As you look across the top of the layer manager I can see all the headings of each column beginning with "Name", "Status", "On" and so forth. The last column heading I see is "Description" but I need to go even further to the right to get to the column I need to be at but can't get there. There is no scroll button on the bottom of the layer manager which would allow me to do that.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have started to use Selection Set Manager for drawing previewing and publishing. I was moving drawings that are one to one to paper space to allow SSM usage but I recently found that my client does not want me moving drawings to paper space. He wants to keep his drawings in model space for one to one drawings (electrical schematics, one lines etc).
How can I use SSM for these model space drawings?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a landscape architect trying to xref in civil backgrounds. I have noticed twice now from two different civil firms that some of the civil symbols (dynamic blocks) are having visibility issues in paper space. No the viewport layers are not turned off or frozen. No the views weren't placed using the sheet set manager. Yes the blocks are created on layer zero and yes the associated layer is not off or frozen. I don't believe these blocks are annotative blocks. They appear, as expected, perfectly clear in model space. I just toggel over to paper space and "poof" they've disappeared.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSome time back I played around with the filters in GIMP. I have tryed to figure out what I did, but it is not working to well. The base file I got saved, only has a transparent background layer and a text layer. But this is the base tho. So that was what I used, with some filter mix and turn off/on effect in layer manager.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI remember that there used to be a command I used in an older version of AutoCad, such as "Sort Layer" or similar that would populate all of the layers used in a drawing, which solves the problem of not being able to see all the layers. I believe the default value is not set at a high enough number. What this command is?
View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing CAD2011, froze, I restarted it and reopened the file I was working in. In my ribbon, all layers read "0", but show the correct ByLayer color according to what layers they were on before the crash. If I list something, it shows the correct layer, and not that it's on "0". When my coworker opens the same file everything is as it should be, which leads me to believe some setting got messed up during this crash.
It is making work way more difficult than it should be - I can't see what layers are what!
Layers are shown in the drop down menu from the ribbon but when I open the layer manager no layers are visible. I can click in the empty space and the layer will highlight. See attached.

I am missing the icons for the "ON/OFF", "FREEZE", and "LOCK" in the Layer Properties Manager in AutoCAD 2010. Recently upgraded computer to 64-bit and had to re-install 2010. Since then, it takes forever to reload the Properties Manager. Adding new layers, trying to turn layers on/off, freeze layers, etc. causes the Manager to reload. The file I am working with is only 75 kb, tiny in comparison to files I usually work with. My co-worker has a 64-bit and 2010 as well, and her Properties Manager is working just fine. Do I have to reload 2010?
View 6 Replies View RelatedCan you import layers from a file other than the AutoCAD types, e.g. .dwg, .dwt etc? I have made a list of layers in Excel that I would like to import into AutoCAD without having to manually create each layer at a time (there are approx 150 layers).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with exporting layers from dwg to pdf. Problem is that i can export (or print) drawing but i missing some layers in layer manager in pdf. I have drawing with 150 layers (from other co-workers) but only mine 4 layers doesn't appear. I have check in ACAD in layer prop manager if they are plottable but this is not a problem for content from those 4 layers are exported in pdf but not in layers they have to be (those layers are missing)!
I use ACAD 2012
edit: i found out that layers doesn't appear because contetnt on them are only blocks. for eg. block is on layer 1 but contetnt of block is on layer 2 so i see only layer 2 in pdf but not layer 1
Is there a way within Autocad to lock a layer so that only certain people have access (say using a password).
Also is there a way to export model space from one workbook to another. In that one is the standard company file and I want to build a sepearte workbook for my purposes (making specific paper spaces etc...) but I want to use their model space for the model space of my workbook. Also if possible to export would this exported model space make changes when changes were made on the original copy?
Do the people that develop (anti-endusers ) the upgrades ever think like an end user? Having the Layer Properties Manager set up with default filters that show "ALL" layers or "Xref" layers without a default for "Layers Local ONLY" is so counterintuitive and non-user friendly! This is just another example of how Autodesk has absolutely no regard for the end user.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi was working on a building layout that included soil & waste and hot & cold water routes, some detail was needed at 1:100 and some 1:50. i can set up viewports in ps to display the correct layers ok but the model space view got more and more untidy, all text and dimensions are in model space too. if i froze a model space layer to improve things obviously i lost that layer in ps. in the end i copied the xref and did the water services separate. is there a way of tidying up the model space without losing any layers in ps?
View 8 Replies View RelatedAny way to print/plot a layer in a VPORT, but prevent the same layer from printing in Model Space?
I am annotating my VPORTS with text, but I don't want any of this text to print/plot from Model space. All of the annotations will be on the same layer even though the annotations will appear on multiple VPORTS.
When I use the Layer Isolate command, then use the Layer Unisolate command, everything seems to work fine, as far as displaying the correct layers again. However, when I go to the Layer Manager, I noticed that all frozen or frozen in current viewport are also turned off.
LAYISO set to OFF (use fade?)
This only happens in a maximized viewport, not in model space.
I have done a drawing on my auto cad 2011 on windows and when i open it up on my auto cad 2011 for mac it only shows one layer in model space all the layers are on and thawed. how can i get the rest of my drawing to show up?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst off, here is what i want to do:
- in model space
- 3 model space view ports (ai_tiledvp 3 "_V")
- different layer state visible in each view port OR different saved view visible in each view port.
I cannot for the life of me figure it out. At the moment, every time i change the layer state (or saved view) in one view port, it changes in all 3 view ports so that they all show the exact same thing.
I have a question regarding AutoCAD 2012 and when it comes to locking layers.
When working on the basement layer I would like to see that layer locked in turn not affecting my other layers, ie: my house/garage/second-floor.
I'm looking for a way to hide a layer in model space, but show it on ONLY my paperspace tab. Problem is, most of my work is in model space (different aspect of this drawing), and although I could pull the objects through to the paperspace tab, it just wouldn't be the way I feel it should be (3d objects should stay in model space imo). However, for the most part I don't need to see it in model space (except for checking 3d elevations of line segments), the finish product is a printed 2d top view.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to work on a previous file in my office, and when it opens on mycomputer, it does not display as it should.
In general, the purpose of the project is to reinstate the side slopes of a road abutting a river. Cut & fill sections have been generated on 20m station increments along the road corridor/surfaces in order to calulate cut and fill as well as to reference the design to flood levels.
When I open the file, all of these sections (and there are alot) have relocated themselves to various locations in model space, none of which are aligned with the viewports that are being used for printing.
Could it be software and/or hardware incompatibility with the computer they were originally created on? (I believe it was created with C3D 2010, or C3D 2011 - I am currently running 2012)
I want to create finished paperspace-tabs, with a specific layer-configuration.
How can I manage that? Each tab has to be exported to PDF as a finished configuration, without changing layers in the end.
What's the best way to model an alley with a 90 degree angle (turn). Do I treat it as an intersection with a zero radius? My typ section is 15 feet width with a 4% slope down to the center of pavement. "V" bottom. Not sure how to get it to model the outside corner and also eliminate the inside overlay.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using Civil3D 2012 and I am trying to create a 50'x50' grid in model space that automatically populates the N & E.
AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 SP4
Windows 7 (64)
I am having some troubles with Civil 3d. I went from a 32-bit windows XP machine with 4 gigs of ram and a dual core 2.8 GHz processor with an older radeon graphics card to a 64-bit windows 7 machine with 16 gigs of ram, core i7-2600 (3.4 GHz) quad core processor, and an nvidia quadro 4000 2GB graphics card and I thought my life would be easy. But apparently great hardware will not solve all of my software issues.
When I try to switch to model space from paper space in C3D 2012 (sp1) it hangs for maybe 5 minutes before finally switching over. I have only worked on two drawings with the new machine, but it does it on both. And not every time, just half the time in one drawing and most of the time in the other.
When I drop a profile into model space, what happens when I move it? Like if I have ten different profiles, I'd like to square them all up and organize them to fit neatly into my plan views. I just scale my border drawing and drop one of those into model space, then fill it up with profiles until it's full.
I know that I should be working in layout/paper space for this kind of stuff, but this seems easy enough.
