AutoCAD 2010 :: Import / Export Layer Filters
Jun 21, 2012Is this functionality still available. I have seen several threads that mention it being available on some people layer manager, but I don't have it on either. See attachment. I remember there being a registry key you could add or change to the tools, but when I did that I always got two errors in drawings that would appear every audit.

Feb 6, 2012When I save my autocad drawing with hatches as a PDF and open it in illustrator, it makes everything extremely slow, probably because the hatch is converted into separate lines in illustrator. What can I do to get around this?
I tried to open it as a dwg file as well, but it didn't work.

May 22, 2012I have imported a raster image into a drawing and it has a border around the exterior of the picture. When I plot it the exterior line shows up as a line and I want it to not show up on the plot. Is this possible?

Jul 11, 2012we have a drawing where we were un-able to use snaps (end, per, quad, etc.) on any blocks.
It seems like this particular drawing has issues not seen elsewhere.(besides the fact it was badly drawn) After some time playing with all the settings. We turned on the zero layer and then all the nodes were available as usual.
i've been using AutoCad for 20 years and never seen this. Is this some kind of new feature?Can you control the snaps with a layer? WHY?

Nov 14, 2012I need importing and exporting custom layer property filters. Long story short, we XREF a lot of mechanical equipment in our models and when we create a structural drawing make all of the mechanical item print in a light ghosted color. I created a layer property filter with a huge list of all the possible equipment prefix's like *cl-* *tk-* *rv-* and so on to filter out all the equipment layers. It took a long time to create, so I want to export it and import it into future drawing.

Sep 21, 2012I had an issue using 3D 2010. In my drawing I had a layer for my windows. My windows were nicely put together and design on the window layer. Next thing that happens I turn on my drawing today to come and find my windows are now saved on my viewport layer and the viewport layer took the properties of my window layer. Now last night when I plotted out the drawing I made viewports on a layer for viewports and that was the last layer I had used so it was current. What I want to know is why the hell did the layer dominate my window layer with taking the properties of my window layer. I did not merge them!

Aug 28, 2012i have gotten a drawing from another user and have managed to purge all of thier layers except for one. I have deleted everything out of the drawing, done "select all" numerous times and deleted, but this layer still won't let itself be deleted. I have made sure it is not the current layer, w blocked the whole drawing etc. There was an ole image in this drawing at some stage, could that have left this horrible layer "25L"???

Dec 10, 2013Eventually after I copy and paste with the clipboard enough times within one drawing, the ability goes away and I can no longer copy and past one item from one drawing to a separate drawing. I need to use the clipboard function because that is the only way of getting an item from one drawing to another.
I have download a clear clipboard function but it doesn't work. Closing CAD and restarting does not reinstate the function.

The method I tried using was: I used the q select command to copy all objects from one layer on to the clipboard and then tried pasting it in the other drawing (which was in paper) - and nothing got pasted.

Feb 19, 2008I have an image with 8 layers and i want to draw lines. So I make a new layer. While this layer is selected, i select the line tool and draw a line. Then, as I want to move this line, I select the move tool and try to move it. But instead of moving the line I just drew, photoshop automatically switches to my background layer (although i'm not sure it's defined as "background layer") and moves the entire content of the layer.
To see what actually happened, i hid each layer in the layer palette... And still... here was my line. (with all layers hidden, is it POSSIBLE to have anything?)
I tried to select my line and then, using the move tool, move it, but the message "could not move the selection because the selected area is empty"...

Sep 27, 2012I'm working on homogonizing all of our various templates, making all the new features from newer templates available in the older templates but I'm getting high centered on a step.
I've exported all of the different drawing standards and imported them all into each template which makes all of the upgraded dim styles available in all of the templates. The issue arrises when I save and close then reopen the template the imported standards are missing. It appears that under Manage, Styles Editor, if the standard is not in use it is not saved with the template. If this is the case how do I put them all "in use"? Even if I activate one of the imported standards, save, close, reopen, then activate a different standard and repeat, the imported standard is deleted.
