Just yesterday one of my computers has had it's ctrl+S command making a file read-only. Using the save icon and typing "qsave" work fine. I tried looking at the save options and everything looks ok as well as looking at the shortcut keys in the cui. Everythign looks like all the others that don't have this problem. Is there something I'm missing or has something become corrupted?

I use autocad architecture 2013 and it works just fine until the save turns to qsave whenever i want to save a drawing by save, save as and ctrl+s it works as qsave..how can I turn it back to SAVE ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Civil 3D 2013, and when I do a qsave, my drawing gives me the following error dialogue box.
"Drawing File is Write Protected" - I am the only on in the files, so now my file is currently Read Only - then I am able to re-open the same file as the same time I have the currently read only version open.
I am getting this currently after or during Plan Production, creating sheets, and I do a qsave.

Windows 7 64 bit system
12GB Ram
Quad Core Xeon 3.2
Server is using Microsoft Server 2008
I am running into an interesting problem with the Inventor Export command. When I use the Export command to create a PDF print from an .idw, most of the dimensions are shown with a degree of grayscale. However, when I use the print command and the "Cute" PDF plotter, the dimensions are not grayscale.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to hatch floor patterns in suits. I draw a pline aroudn perimeter. There are a couple of problems.
First, when I do a hatch by selecting the pline ("object"), it doesn't detect islands, such as our room tag. This is likely because the hatch is over an xref (the suite is an xref, room tag and pline are not), and hatches don't seem to like xrefs.
Next option is to hatch by "pick points". When I do that, and select a point on the floor of the suite, all of a sudden an old xref or xclip appears in 2 locations, and the hatch boundary takes the lines from that new xref into consideration. The crazy thing is that this xref does not exist in any form in the drawing. I have purged/audited the drawing, and the drawing no longer even exists in our computer.
The layer merge command is not working in one particular drawing. But fine in others and new files using the acad.dwt file.Is there a setting that effects the command.

I know there was a command to select the first point and the last and ACAD would draw the line between. I am using AutoCAD 2010.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAn example is when I'm drawing a box, line etc and attempt to type "@5,-5", AutoCAD somehow jumps to a window on the side and if I don't notice will restore the window I'm working in and not complete the command I typed ("@5,-5" in this case). If I do notice in time, then I have to pres ESC about 3-4 times, which will then have me back on the command line with the text "@5,-" already typed (as if that was were I paused while typing??). The attached picture shows the dialog box on the top left, and the command line as if I've only typed "@", when after pressing ESC as mentioned the full "@5,-" text becomes visible on the command line?
Also, as a note: I've already ruled out that I'm pressing other keys that could possibly cause this...

When I toggle PICKSTYLE with CTRL+H... I see no command line confirmation for the change. Currently using ACAD 2012 (coming from 2010).
Is there another SYSVAR which controls what the command line displays in occasions such as this? Something along the lines of CMDECHO?
I am trying to locate the image over the glass surface.
But once picture is located over the glass the Decal command makes my picture transparent.
Is there any way to make it not transparent?
So far it works only with not transparent substrate.

Does the command still exist to export a drawing to the 3DS file type? I remember doing it in 2007, but do not remember the command and can not find it in the help files.
View 9 Replies View Relatedthis in an issue ive noticed for a long time now across a few versions of ACAD, not sure whats causing it. When i try to draw an XLINE sometimes the command will get locked into either horizontal or vertical mode, without me choosing that option. seems to based on the OSNAP pickpoint i grab maybe.

i run XLINE, pick endpoint and bam, its locked into horizontal mode, very annoying if im trying to make a vertical and horizontal line based off the same point.
I rarely paste entities using ctrl-v, I use the WTIT.lsp commands instead, or edit pulldown to paste entities.
I want a CTRL-V to paste to command line, always, no matter what.
I tried killing the keyboard shortcuts through the CUI, but that just stopped ctrl-v from doing anything when I was not on command line.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI try to zoom into an object with my mouse and it disppears. I zoom out and it reappears but it's too far away, I zoom in again and it disappears. Why is it doing this? I click zoom object and that works but I don't want to do that every single time and even that isn't zoomed in enough.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI frequently use ALT+TAB or CTRL+TAB to toggle between drawings open in one AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 session. It usually works great, until it doesn't. It will tease me by showing the desired drawing (for 3-30 seconds, without a command prompt) and then switch back to the one I wanted to leave. Once this problem occurs I use the QuickView button at the bottom of the screen to force the change. The appropriate drawing will be displayed but it still takes a while for the command prompt to appear (3-30 seconds). This problem is not drawing specific or session specific, and it cannot be predicted or reproduced on command. Is this a known issue or is my AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 installation compromised somehow?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAutodesk Content Service makes my computer so slow that it is unusable. I would like to know what this program does and whether I need it or not to run my student programs.
I removed the program using windows uninstall and my computer instantly began to respond again. Running Windows 7 Pro, 1 T 7200 rpm hard drive, 8 gb memory, quad core 775 chip. Nvidia video w/ 1gb memory.
This computer is lightning fast, no jitter or hanging in revit or auto cad until content services was running.
In the earlier versions of acad the "ctrl-w" toggled object snap tracking on or off, but in 2012 it is changed to Selection Cycling on or off. This is quite irritating, because I got used to toggle object snap tracking with it and still automatically use it for that purpose. But I tried my best in the user interface to find it and change it or even disable it. But can't seem to find it anywhere or change it for that matter.

also if i will right click on the drawing space, nothing happens, but below or in the command window, i can, also for example i drew a line, and i want to redo, the "CTRL" function using ctrl+Z is disabled, what happened with this one?
So this really doesn't have much to do with objects in a drawing. Say for instance, I go into the PURGE dialogue box, and I want to select multiple layers to purge, but not all of them. If I click a layer, and the hold CTRL and click other layers, the only one that stays highlighted is the one I just clicked...so using CTRL doesn't allow me to highlight multiple entities at the same time.
It's gets a little more weird using SHIFT. The conventional SHIFT method (works in Windows Explorer and other applications) is clicking an object, holding SHIFT, and then clicking another object further down the list...this will highlight both of those entities clicked, plus every single entitiy in between them. In AutoCAD (use the PURGE dialogue box again for reference), if I click an object, hold SHIFT and click an object down the list, it will highlight the last object clicked and everything in between the two, but it will deselect the original object. Also, if I use SHIFT to select multiple objects, and then go back to the original that was deselected and hold CTRL to select it, the last object that was selected using SHIFT gets deselected.

if you care to not click-through, the problem is that certain commands (not all of them) simply do not disply in the command line. so the MOVE command for example looks like this:

as the place I work at recently upgraded their PS version to CS6 and basically rendered my Intuos 4 completely useless because of the damn Alt/Ctrl modifier, which seems to control the "drag to create a copy of the layer function" regardless of the tool you're using.
It might be specific for my region, but Alt+Ctrl or Alt Gr modifer is used in order to reach certain keystokes, such as ], [, @, so when by default the brush size function on my wacom is linked to a "[" (alt+ctrl+f windows function), my tablet completely flips out and starts sending a mix of Alt, Ctrl and Alt + Ctrl function controls instead of the [ which I'm trying to use.
Alt + w/e functions work just fine, but I can't use any modifer using the alt+ctrl+w/e combo that involves creating a symbol, even while using the keyboard. For example, I can use the alt+ctrl+z command to undo something, but if I linked my brush tool to a "§", which is invoked by calling the alt+ctrl+m windows command, it will act as a normal ctrl + m command and open the curves window.
Upgraded my computer to Windows 8 OS. I re-installed AutoCAD LT 2010. When I try to open a drawing it says drawing is currently in use or is read only. This a stand alone computer and not on a network.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am running AutoCAD 2000 ( I know it's older than most users out there... but good enough for me) and have received 3 dwg files (floor plans) that were exported from VectorWorks (newer version) yesterday. My issue is that these files have been exported to a newer format than my ACAD2000 is able to open and I really need to be able to get at these to be able to work on them.
Willing to open these 3 floor plans in ACAD2012 and save them as an ACAD2000 file format...
I'm trying to make a standard block which will automatically read the co-ordinates! i have started making it trying to use fields, but when inserting the block into the drawing it stays at x=0, y=0, which is the point in the block. how do i get it to read the point in the drawing, and also how would i always get it to read the world ucs.
i have attached the block i've started, haven't added any dynamics yet as i'm just testing it.
I am creating a block that has a single letter included with it. I will need to rotate this block depending on the position within my plan, but I want to keep the label upright and able to be read left to right. I can't seem to find a way to set this preference, does it exist? Or is there a round-about way of doing it? Don't tell me I have to make separate blocks, each oriented a different way to the text stays upright..
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a draftswoman have been using Autocad for doing my family tree, but i am having trouble reading the PDF's outout when printed at a high DPI. I've attached copies of the same part of the screen printed at 150 DPI, when its clear and readable, and at 2400 DPI when it goes all faded and unreadable. But there are occasions due to some graphics that its better for me to print at 2400 DPI. is there any way of improving the text printed at the higher DPI to make it clearer and readable?
