Upgraded my computer to Windows 8 OS. I re-installed AutoCAD LT 2010. When I try to open a drawing it says drawing is currently in use or is read only. This a stand alone computer and not on a network.
View 2 RepliesI've started getting this random errror message today when doing random commands, such as switching from model space to my layouts and vice versa, or the undo command, "unrecognized version and cannot be read" and then it gives me the Ok/Cancel option. I hit OK, then says "is not recognized syntax, select OK to ignore or Cancel to abort" And I hit ok, and the command is carried out, but slowly.
I've looked this error up and it seems to have been around since 2000. It looks like it has something to do with print files and scripts, but we haven't added or changed any in years. Although I have been having printer issues. Yesterday this started and it's still happening - when I press the print button, no matter what printer is set to, it would take 2 minutes to see the dialog box, 2 minutes for just a preview, then 2 minutes or more to start printing. It doesn't sound like a long time, but it adds up! And it's still doing that on CAD alone... printing is quick in other programs.
I'm on AutoCAD 2013, Windows 7, 64 bit OS.
I very frequently get the above message, "Oject was open for Read". Its to do with annotative text objects which I just recently started using. When I get the message the piece of text I am trying to make changes to is frozen, cant delet it or anything?

The error message on my machine is displayed in red on grey for a fraction of a second, and appears to give information as to cause of crash, but is too quick to read. Any way to persuade it to stay on screen long enough to read?

I recently got a new camera (D600) and thought that that was the problem but i cant get any images to import. Even form my D7000. I have checked my disc permissions and updated everything i can. After I save a file for "Web & Devices," when I open it, it returns this message, "This file contains file info data which cannot be read and has been ignored." Will this cause any problem with the file once I place it in the website I'm building? I've never seen this message before on a photo I've edited. The changes I made involved color correction.
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust yesterday one of my computers has had it's ctrl+S command making a file read-only. Using the save icon and typing "qsave" work fine. I tried looking at the save options and everything looks ok as well as looking at the shortcut keys in the cui. Everythign looks like all the others that don't have this problem. Is there something I'm missing or has something become corrupted?

Unable to save to drawing B: (file location folder)file name.
Drawing saved to B: (same file location folder)savD214.tmp
The only option is to click OK
Now there are several .tmp files in my job folder. I haven't tried to open them or anything else.
The original file will be lost if I close the drawing. I've had this happen when I clsoe the drawing before saving it - I'll get a message asking if I want to save the draiwng before closing it, and then I'll get this message, click OK, and the file will be gone. I have to to the .bak file, make a copy of it and change the file extension name to .dwg to get the file back.
If I get this message when I'm just doing a ctrl-S save, I immediately do a "save-as", copy over the original file name, and everything seems to be fine.
I am using AutoCAD 2012 and I have an Issue that comes up once in a while. I will save the drawing that I am working in and a dialog box pops up with "AutoCAD Message. It says that it is unable to save to drawing, then lists the string where the drawing is found. Instead of saving as a .dwg, it creates a .tmp of the drawing. If I click the okay in the box it disappears and I can then resave the drawing as a .dwg. Lately it will even go so far as to lock the drawing and allow it to be only opened as a read only file.

I created a Dynamic Block that works perfectly, however when I try to add it to my tool pallet, I get an error message that reads "Block XXX is not found in source drawing. If the source drawing is currently open in the editor please save your drawing."
I'm not in the block editor, and I've saved it multiple times before I tried doing this. I've even closed AutoCAD and reopened it and I'm still getting the same results. I've been able to add many other blocks to my tool pallet, but it just will not accept this one.
if I open a drawing with DocumentManager.Open("drawing.dwg", false) and it is already open (or the user has no rights to write to it), the drawing is opened in READONLY mode without warning.
Is there way to check if DocumentManager.Open("drawing.dwg", false) will open the drawing normal or READONLY?
We have a problem with using our AutoCAD LT 2012 on our the network:
If a folder on the network is for the designer read-only, AutoCAD file open and reports the error "drawing file is not valid". Designers who have write-access to this folder open files with the same version AutoCAD (LT 2012) without a problem. If I add write-access right to users to this folders, he open it fine.
The problem is only with network folders (sharing Win2008 server); if it is a local folder with read-only access, AutoCAD will recognize it and offer opening for reading only. This version (LT 2012 SP2) has apparently some problem with access to network folders with read-only rights.
If the file is opened via the "Open read-only" from the pull-down menu in the Open AutoCAD dialogue, it works well. This approach is however very inconvenient - designer finds a link to a file in our information system, he wants to open the file, but get the above error.
Copy the file to local disk isnt usually possible, because of using XREFs files, which he also need to load.
The problem is possibly in an attempt to create a DWL file. We didn't use the function WhoHas, so that a possible solution would be to disable the creation of these DWL files. But this option in ACad LT 2012 isnt possible.Is is solution to migrate to new AutoCAD LT 2014?

Save a drawing, and close AutoCAD.
Open drawing on another computer, and it says file is in use, and asks if I would like to open as read-only.
The problem is consistent, and happens even if I wait a few minutes to open the file after closing it on the other computer.
I would like to make windows service (.NET C#), which would watch directory changes and read dwg extents, if file extension was .dwg.
Is this possible to make on machine, where autocad isn't installed?
Im having issues when plotting a PDF. Im plotting using the DWG to PDF.pc3. The text in the CAD file looks awesome, clean and crisp. When I send it out to a PDF and I cant read the text. Its being plotted at custom paper size - 72x72 as requested. A PDF is attached.
