AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Delete Unwanted Geometry
Jan 28, 2013I have generated a model but want to get rid of unwanted geometry to clean it up, how do I delete unwanted geometry?

View 4 RepliesIn creating our drawing template, I collected alot of unwanted styles and want to delete/clean this up. I only want to keep what's highlighted..By the way, I found style editor and template creation quite tedious & convoluted.

I wish to delete all project geometry in the active drawingsketch with 1 click
But unsure how to get to these constraints.
Are these geometricConstraints?
What I have now doesnt work:
Select Case ThisDoc.Document.DocumentType
Case 12292:
Case Else: MsgBox("Current Document not a drawing document")
Exit Sub
End Select
[Code] .......
I'm working to Move Revit architectural files to 3ds Max, there use Vray for ligting and materials, texturebaking everything and moving it into unity. But I’ve run into allot of problems. I manage to get all the stages done, but there is so much “hands on fixing” that it’s not a viable workflow in RL projects.
My largest problem is removing all unwanted polygons and geometry before texturebaking. From revit you get a lot of faces that won’t ever be seen, like inside walls, in between there floors ect. For instance if I was doing an interior I would like to be able to quickly remove all unseen polygons and exterior faces that won’t be seen. Otherwise texturebaking is a pain. It will texturebake huge areas that won’t ever be seen making the process long and affecting resolution. Manualy removing all areas that won’t be seen is not an option.
I have imported a dxf file from our Trimble handheld unit. The dxf has layers built into it that come straight from the trimble software. (ei, FENCE, TANK, WELL HEAD, FIELDLINE) I have custom built layers and linetypes for my .dwt file in Cad so I dont need the layers that followed the dxf file.
For some reason I am unable to delete those layers, I get a warning box saying:
The following layers cannot be deleted:
. layers 0 and Defpoints
. The current Layer.
. Layers containing objects.
. Xref-dependant layers
I am not on the current layer, I am pretty positive there is no objects on the layers I want to delete ( i have deleted my gps points and blocks that were imported)
I am not using any xref dwg's
i want to delete unwanted reference file (xref) information outside boundary of a current drawing.using civil 3D or autocad.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed LR4 Beta, and imported some photos from my LR3 installation. Probably not the wisest approach I now realise.
Now that I have purchased LR4 (upgrade), and installed it including RC4.1 I realise that I have a catalogue that only contains the images I imported with the Beta version. I still have the original images, and sidecar files in my LR3 catalogue. What I want to do is remove the LR4 catalogue that I currenly have, and then export my catalogue from LR3 and import into LR4. I think I am OK with the Export / Import bit (I have Martin Evening's excellent book). What I don't know how to do is remove the catalogue, or contents thereof from LR4. I could of course just remove all the images from the catalogue by deleting them but I want to be careful here, as I got into this situation by doing things the wrong way in the first place.

I've got CS5 and I'm still learning the ropes. I've advanced to creating my own ICC print profiles, which I'm using. CS5 has a long list of these in the print dialogue. I have occasionally updated the profiles that I have created ( which now appear in this list). I want to keep the list up to date with regards my own profiles and delete the ones that have been superceeded. I've looked through my folders (Windows 7) but I can't find where they are stored.
how I delete unwanted profiles in the list? Can it be done whilst in CS5?
Mac OS X 10.7.4, Lightroom 4.1. File>Export Presets has two groups: Lightroom and User.
Under 'Lightroom' there are a number of duplicated items which I would like to delete (cleanup).
In Library>Application Support> Adobe> Lightroom>Presets>Export .. there is ONLY User. No 'Lightroom.'
Is there a way to delete unwanted ICC profiles in the print module?

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn the idw of my assembly hidden detail is turned off although there is still sub assemblies shown through the main container. Also when there is a section these sub assemblies are show with dotted lines an overlap components they are behind.
My questions are
1. Why are they showing through components they are behind.
2. Why are the lines dashed
See attached image.
The issue I have with Inventor 2010 is when i dimension a rectangle to be 44 in wide and 79 in height it becomes a slated rectangle. This event occurs on the work version of Inventor 2010. I have an educational version of Inventor 2010 at home and when I tried this same dimension rectangle at home it didn't have this issue. Is there a setting I need to turn off to fix this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe problem I'm having, or what's annoying, is reappearing (visible) Work Planes. I have a number of parts in my assembly that I make invisible and visible on a regular basis and I find that when I make a part visible, the Work Planes of that part also become visible. It's very annoying and time consuming having to turn off the Work Planes when there's no need for them to be visible.
Is there a way to either make all Work Planes invisible or to permenantly make Work Planes invisible unless you specifically make them visible.
what the best way to show 2 different subassemblies based on the same iAssembly... I would expect a "custom" option as there is from the content center. If I try and change the table for one, the other instance gets updated, and I would like it to stay the same. I understand that this would require a new "branch" in the BOM holding the different sized parts, but there must be a way to accommodate this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow in import 2D geometry into Inventor so I do not have to redraw the profile, only extrude the existing geometry. I tried to export from Autocad a IGES file, and then create a sketch plane in Inventor and project the geometry onto the sketch plane, but I ended up with a bunch of open loops. Perhaps, I have figured it out and real question is how to I close open loops?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to show an animation of a flat plate of material converging into a half hollow sphere (like a bowl). Its easy to model the beginning and end stae, but I do not know how to show it transitioning from one to the other.
How to do this? I need it for a presentation to convey a design concept.
I'm fairly new to the world of CAD, and I was just working on a phone case for my friend when I tried to extrude geometry text, but couldn't because the OK and Apply options were greyed out. I tried embossing and making a hole, but they were greyed out for them too. I tried messing with the settings to see if I could fix it, but I still couldn't. I'm really confused right now, I remember doing something similar for a case I made for myself.?
View 3 Replies View RelatedCurrently I save all my 2D DWGs as IGES files and then import the files into Inventor. That converts all the geometry to Construction Wires in an IPT, which means MUCH improved performance (you don't have to wait for Inventor to convert every single entity in the DWG to a Sketch entity). I then start a new Sketch and Project those lines that I need from the Construction Wires.
Is there a way to do this directly (convert to Construction Wires) with a DWG, without having to save as an IGES file first?

I've created a solid in Inventor and used the Section Analysis tool to create several cross sections. I'm trying to find a way to export the geometry of each cross section to a some format so that I could laser cut each cross section.

Why is it that when I create a dimension across geometry the dimension shows true, yet if I create sketched geometry in the drawing view it does not?
What I need to do is create an arc of swing for a door. So I create a sketched arc and then want to dimension the arc radius of the door, yet the dimension shows not true. How do I make it true? And why can't I snap to model geometry in the drawing view?
You know the square, traingle, circle, and the hexagon shapes that are used on the revision tags? How do I change the size of the geometry to be smaller? If I just change the text size, all that changes is the text, the geometry remains the same. I'm wanting to make them ultra small so that when there are lots of revisions, it doesn't clutter up the drawing too much.
