Jun 5, 2013I've created a number of presets for renaming files when importing into Lightroom 4.4. How do I get rid of presets that I no longer want?

Under 'Lightroom' there are a number of duplicated items which I would like to delete (cleanup).
In Library>Application Support> Adobe> Lightroom>Presets>Export .. there is ONLY User. No 'Lightroom.'

I had a bunch of watermarks that I had created in LR4 that was a result of trying to redo a previously created watermark (why Adobe don't allow you to overwrite I don't know) but instead of overwriting the currently selected watermark LR4 lets you create a new preset from the changes. These changes build up over time and you sometimes end up with missing or moved files. If these graphic files are missing then you may or may not have ran into my dilema where when you select the watermark to try and delete it, the dialog box just keeps disappearing and nothing you do seem to work. Don't dispear, here is a solution I've discovered that I couldn't find anywhere else.
1. Open LR4 (Not sure if this works with other versions)
2. Select the Print module (this seem to be the fastest, easiest way to access and edit watermarks)
3. Select the check box next to the watermark under the "Page" pane on the right (this will allow you to select and edit the individual watermarks)
4. select the dropdown menu and chose the watermark that you want to edit. The dialog bot will open but beware it will quickly vanish in a couple seconds so here is my solution (at least until Adobe fixes this problem). Grab hold of the dialog box before it closes and hold it for a few seconds, this will delay or stop it from closing instantaneously.
5. Select the dropdown menu within the dialog box and chose delete watermark option, confirm that you want to delete and voila!
I installed LR4 Beta, and imported some photos from my LR3 installation. Probably not the wisest approach I now realise.
Now that I have purchased LR4 (upgrade), and installed it including RC4.1 I realise that I have a catalogue that only contains the images I imported with the Beta version. I still have the original images, and sidecar files in my LR3 catalogue. What I want to do is remove the LR4 catalogue that I currenly have, and then export my catalogue from LR3 and import into LR4. I think I am OK with the Export / Import bit (I have Martin Evening's excellent book). What I don't know how to do is remove the catalogue, or contents thereof from LR4. I could of course just remove all the images from the catalogue by deleting them but I want to be careful here, as I got into this situation by doing things the wrong way in the first place.

View 6 Replies View RelatedBy mistake I have imported presets twice and as they are huge in numbers, I would like to know a method to delete those duplicate presets using an easy method.
Note: I don't want to find every duplicate preset one by one and thus asking for a solution to find all the duplicate presets at once and then delete it.
The subject says it.
I don't use any of the develop presets that ship with Lirhgtroom. How do I delete them? They are only cluttering my panel at this point as I have many of my own. Or, can I consolidate them into one folder? I can't seem to find where LR keeps them; they aren't with my preset folders. Nor are they in Win7>users>appdata>roaming>adobe>lr
When I was first using LR I was playing around with a watermark for my pictures, as well as a watermark. After I created the user preset and watermark, and also became more comfortable with the program and understanding what all settings meant, I wanted to edit them saving them under the same name, hoping to replace previous settings. However all I got was a notice that "The name is already in use." This then caused me to save the settings as a new preset and watermark. I was just wondering if there was a way to delete those original presets that I am not happy with?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I import raw files into Lightroom 4 it seems to apply different settings or some presets to the images which changes the look of the raw file slightly. How can I setup Lightroom so it doesn't apply any changes to my raw files? I prefer to make the changes myself starting with camera calibration, exposure, white balance etc.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using OS/X 10.8.5 I can see under the Catalog there is a folder for Lightroom Settings, and the Filename Templates folder exists.
I also tried clicking on the various template names, which gave me the option to install them. They then disappeared from the folder. But were not available.
I had previously also tried Resetting Filename Template under Catalog Preferences.
I really need this module to work.
I don´t have templates in the file rename area in lightroom 5
View 1 Replies View RelatedI notice that when I use Lightroom 5 to rename the pictures contained in a folder, the folder size is reduced afterward. For example, a folder containing 349 jpg files was 1.52 GB but after renaming them, the folder size was redusce to 1.30 GB.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIn LR 2.6, when I imported my images (RAW) I would import keeping the original file number, then I would batch rename and convert to dng after they were already in my catalogue. Since I shoot stock, I keep a meticulous record of what I shoot for metadata and keywording purposes. I notice that when I upgraded to LR 3, my in my existing catalogues/folders the original file names are gone, and just the new custom name & sequencing show up.
Unfortunately, I still have to keyword & metadata tag a lot of images, but now the original in-camera numbering is gone. With my new imports what I did to preserve the original numbering, is to import, do my keywording/metadata, then a batch rename. How to keep both. It is just easier to refer to my notes when I have the original number of the image.
Lightroom 4 imports photos and videos from my iPhone and puts them where I want them to go, and names the directories the way I want. All good. But it also leaves the photos on the phone to be manually deleted. Is there some way to have it delete the photos after import?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have imported a dxf file from our Trimble handheld unit. The dxf has layers built into it that come straight from the trimble software. (ei, FENCE, TANK, WELL HEAD, FIELDLINE) I have custom built layers and linetypes for my .dwt file in Cad so I dont need the layers that followed the dxf file.
For some reason I am unable to delete those layers, I get a warning box saying:
The following layers cannot be deleted:
. layers 0 and Defpoints
. The current Layer.
. Layers containing objects.
. Xref-dependant layers
I am not on the current layer, I am pretty positive there is no objects on the layers I want to delete ( i have deleted my gps points and blocks that were imported)
I am not using any xref dwg's
When i apply a preset to a photo, then export it ... the file i end up with is significanatly smaller than my original file ? These same presets resulted in as large / or in most cases larger files sizes in previous versions of lightroom ...

I have occasionally updated the profiles that I have created ( which now appear in this list). I want to keep the list up to date with regards my own profiles and delete the ones that have been superceeded. I've looked through my folders (Windows 7) but I can't find where they are stored.
how I delete unwanted profiles in the list? Can it be done whilst in CS5?
