I want to create a hole approx 586x586mm. But every time i try inventor respond with "The attempted operation did not produce a meaningful result" If i do a slightly smaller hole it will work, but that is not what i want...
And i run Inventor 2014
In the attached sample file if you edit the sketch in the first surface feature and change the dimension of 600 to 700, both the patch and loft features fail. It seems to be the curved edge that is the problem in both cases.
I cant see anything wrong with either way of modelling this so assume its a bug.This causes other problems in my real model with parts that reference these types of surfaces falling apart further down stream and is wasting heaps of $$$.

I don't understand why this Fillet would fail when it was fine before I changed the length of the edge. See before and after shots attached..
The geometry/features that are used to create the fillet are exactly the same.
I'm trying to create (in 3D workspace), a 3D polyline which starts from the "ground" and goes up the Z axis for 45 units (meters for example), then, the polyline continues "up" but in a 45 degree inclination, and then it goes up further but still 45 degrees from the last segment.
I attached a picture of this to the post, the top line is the one I want to create, and the bottom one is what I get.
The thing is that the 3dpoly command doesn't let me set the line on the Z plane, unless I fix it in ortho mode, and even after I do the first segment that way, the next one stays fixed in either the Z plane or the XY plane, but not in the 45 degree between them that I want....
P.S. - when I click the 3d polyline command, there are no options in the command area, just "specify first point...." - is this what should appear?
Now Inventor allows users to create relationships with Joint or Constrain/Assemble commands. Both of these methods let the creation of Positional Representation, but when animating them in Inventor Studio, only animations created with Pos Reps from constraints work. Animated Pos Reps created with joints don't work at all.
Is this a bug? Will this problem be fixed soon (with SP, Updates or any Hotfix), or would it be fixed in the next release?
I'm trying to create / copy an existing workspace using c#
I couldn't find a direct way to just copy the existing workspace so I tried to add it's properties manually. The only trouble is I can't seem to cover all the settings here's what I have so far...

This works fine in VBA (Inventor 2014). But when I start using the same in VB.NET (VS 2012) all declaration as long shows as integer and fails on compiling. If I change to integer compile passes but fail on executing in Inventor 2014.
I've followed a few examples and am able to create a new tab on the Ribbon, with panels and buttons, that appears when my DLL is loaded. However, it doesn't persist through workspace changes. I've read that this is due to my use of AdWindows.dll and my current code, as opposed to AcCui.dll, which would modify a CUIx file (that I don't know much about) to make persistent changes.
Here is a sample of my current code.

I just downloaded 2013 Autocad for MAC and I can't manage to see my drawing toolbars and also don't know where to find workspace settings to change my workspace to autocad classic.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter I figured out how to delete a project (why not just have a delete button in the Project Dialog box) that I didn't want created in the first place (apparently some missed option in the pack&go process) I now cannot delete the incredibly convoluted wokspace folder structure it created.
I deleted the project shortcut as was posted somewhere else and it no longer shows up in the Project dialog box. However, the workspace it created cannot be deleted. I had even removed the workspace from the project before I got rid of it.
I simply get a windows error that it cannot delete the folder(s). I am an admin of this entire folder structure and everything beneath it.
I have opened and closed inventor making sure the project is still not in existence. I have verified the workspace is not listed under any other project. No other user has been to this folder or opened any files even closely related to my work.
I'm working on assembly.While I call parts on assembly, I lost a lot of times to indicate the folder I work on.

The easiest way to do this is if I go back from the end effector joint(that is my wrist), create a rotation about my wrist rotation axis and create a curve, take this curve and sweep it about my elbow rotation axis to create an area, take this area and rotate about my shoulder axis to create a volume and take this volume and rotate it about my torso axis to create another volume.
So my question is, is there any way I could do such a thing in Autodesk inventor?

I understand how to select and hide surfaces and bodies using the model tree, but this isn't useful when my part has 50+ surfaces and solids and I'm forced to hover over each surface or body until the surface or body I want to hide is highlighted. This is possible using Soildworks but why not Inventor?

I'm building an Inventor addin to clear files from a user's workspace. Before i delete any files I need to know if the user has any files checked out. I was hoping there was an easy way(inside of Inventor) to programmitically check if a folder contains any checked out files.

Is it possible to automatically divert Inventor to save to a specific folder within the workspace???
If a certain iProperty is set to yes, we want the user to save that file into a particular folder, if they try and save it elsewhere a message is popped up telling them an error has been made please try and save in the correct folder.

when i create an ipart with an custom parameter column, the files are created in the workspace. Is there any way how i can change this location?

URL....Constantly in 12 and 09 I have had issues snapping to endpoints since the changes to osnaps in ACad itself. It doesn't seem the ramifications were followed thru to ACA.
They seem to have addressed some issues in 12 but not all and often it dails completely.As osnaps is a basic functionality I think Adesk needs to get this working properly and as a fix for 10,11,12 and 13.

Yes the toolbars are unlocked and even when they are locked using the ctrl key still will not alow me to resize. This used to work but now for some reason will not anymore.
Just downloaded the GENIO and Civil View tools but the installation fails as no application found - is the installer faulty?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIt was working fine. Then I just did a simple command (pattern a part) and the entire workspace blinked out. The first time it happened I hit UNDO and it was back. So I got out of the drawing and got back in and tried the pattern again. Same issue but this time when I hit UNDO it would not come back. I closed the file without saving and when I went back in the file the workspace is still nothing but white screen. In the browser everything is still visible except for those that I had already changed to invisible. I tried making an invisible to visible and nothing happened. I got out and tried opening the "old version" which should've been before any of this happened and it is also blank. I can go to an ipt or iam in the browser and hit open and it will open in another screen just fine. I just can't see my main assembly. I have Inventor 2012. It shows no errors or messages. I have even rebooted.
I looked thru the forum and found a past issue back in 2005 identical. I tried doing Find in Window on an item in the browser but for some reason that option is not even in the list when I right click.
My cuix file that I have created won't load automatically anymore.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOkay so to start with I have a building with 2 staircores. Everything is drawn in 3d and I have drawn the 2 staircores as elements and subsequently Xrefed these elements into the relevant constructs and subsequently a 3D model view.
When I view the elements as a live drawing (ie. when I open the individual elements) the drawing views okay in plan and in 3D wireframe, hidden mode etc... no problem so far!
When the drawing is Xrefed into a construct and subsequently a 3D model all of the windows and doors disappear... but in 3d only - ie. viewed in plan mode they are fine. I have checked the display configurations in the constructs and views and they are all set to display these objects in the medium detail and high detail for the model and plan modes.
In 3d wireframe mode the windows and doors can be seen within the wall but the opening which they should create is non-existent!This occurs in teh construct and view drawings.
Here's the catch.... I have a 'West Staircore' and and 'East Staircore'. Both are drawn as individual elements. The West staircore is giving trouble, but the East is perfect. They were both set up using the same DWT file which means that the default display configuration settings should be identical.This is backed up by the fact that they view correctly in the live element drawings.
When they are both Xrefed into the same construct, one is fine and the other will not display in the 3D model!

Bring that back from the archives... because I am still very fond of redoing hundreds of cross sections because you're incable of redistributing the graphs when a sample line is added to a an existing group... and blow up all of the projections well done.... way to leave out a super critical dynamic component.
