when i am creating a coordination system in Autocad and after that i want to export it in Revit, there is aways difference between the two reference points, the one from the Autocad file and the Project base point in Revit.
I managed to mach them by moving the autocad file, but i don't think this is the correct way of doing it.
I am giving a drawing containing all the contour objects in a NAD 83 coordination, I need to transfer them to a project coordination system. I am given with the origins of both system. For NAD 83, it is N6360000 E467000, for the project it is N50000 E8000. I tried to do the transformation using Toolspace->Settings->Drawing Settings->Tranformation, and changed the Local Northing/Easting and Grid Northing/Easting, but does not seem to solve the problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHere at work we are have one computer that has some user defined coordinate systems on it, and we are needing to place these coordinate system files onto another computer so we can project some of our drawing files correctly.
What do we need to do in order to move these files from one computer to the next? What do we need to export?
1 How do I determine what coordinate system a drawing I have received has been prepared in?
2 I know how to export drawings to a .shp file but how can I export this drawing to a .shp file and ensure that coordinate system is maintained or otherwise changed for use in Arch GIS?
I have successfully exported the .shp file geometry previously but the cordinates system doesn't seem to match ARCGIS data sets. I am trying to establish is this an Autocad or ArchGis issue I suppose.
I have been told that the MEP functions are built in the 2013. However, i can't figure out how to get the "system" tab available.

instal Lightroom 4.3 (I tried it with 4.1, 4.2, 4.3) on created new user Windows, and nothing. I exported few photos and now again I can't export no photos more. And get still crashing system
I am creating a beam system. I click the "beam system" button on the structure panel. However, it then goes into sketch mode without stopping to allow me to select "automatic beam system" and/or "Tag on Placement." Fortunately, I can see that "automatic beam system" is already selected in the split second that flashes before going to sketch mode.
However, I do not have the opportunity to select the "Tag on Placement." I am really new to Revit and thus I am wondering if there is a different way to possibly turn on the tagging since the way I know is not an option.
I have just migrated my LR4 to a brand new system and am still getting this anoying error message on export however the images still seem to export.In case you can't rfead it it reads:

I created a new family to use as posts in my handrail system. This is for a deck railing. I'm working on creating a model of the building as it currently stands so I'm able to include a picture of what it actually looks like in real life.
I've also included a screenshot showing the properties window for the handrail (showing what balusters are available) next to the project browswer (showing what families I've got loaded in the file).
In the project browser, I've marked with a red arrow the family that I want to use in my handrail. The ones marked in green are actually listed in the handrail properties window. So how can I make the Dek Rail Post available to my handrail?
I've also included the post family as an attachment.
how to get rid of English system families in country specific project template? The problem is that originaly that project template was made in English version of Revit with English template. Since it is very custom template I have just translated English families into local language when we moved to localized version but I was not able to do that with system families like System Panel for Curtain Wall, basic Mullions and also I had trouble with Solid hatch.

I cant go to the videos or the wiki directly from revit either. None of the resources on the right side of the screen are accessible. I do have the educator version of the software. I have tried to reinstall from the application, but have not uninstalled and reinstalled completely.

This convention is oftened required for photo club, local, national & international photo competitions. The only date function I can find is the 'capture date'. Is there a way to modify the Export Filename Template Editor to include 'current system date' ??
View 4 Replies View RelatedI try to 'lock' a beam system that I have used for rafters to the underside of my roof.I've successfully got the walls and gables linked in with the roof, and have set up reference planes for cutting of rafters (that should - I think - mean that rafters can move slightly - or change pitch, whilst maintaining same cut extents at rafter ends).
Trouble is - the rafter Beam System does not update with the roof.
My creation approach for the Beam System was to select the underside of the roof as the 'Working Plane' - then edit the boundary to project beyond the walls and form the overhang. I projected it further than I required to provide the excess needed in case I wanted to push the cut plane outwards.
I assumed that selecting the underside of the roof as the working plane would 'lock' the two together, but it doesn't appear to work.Have I missed a straightforward step to link the two elements together ?
I am having a problem with creating a curtain wall system. After selecting my mass surfaces and choosing "create system" I am unable to change the type of curtain wall system. It just comes up with a regular grid system on the mass, where as before I was able to choose triangles, rhomboids etc under the properties tab. Now however I see nothing except for the current curtain system and recently used files.
I have also created a custom panel which I want to insert into my project but am unable to do so? I have tried loading it into the project, however because of the above problem I am not able to change it to my custom panel system.
I see how to put omni class numbers in Families but I cannot see how to put them in the System families like doors.

When I apply a curtain system to a mass, the curtain panels flip inside to outside as shown in the attached image, when applied to a curved mass surface. Additionally, if these systems are applied independently the system justification (beginning and end) is reversed.

However I cannot find a fix? Is there one? I am trying to install Autodesk Inventor Suite from USB, and I KEEP GETTING THIS ERROR ON INSTALL - "Cannot update system components now. Please reboot the machine and try again."
Things I have tried -
1. Rebooting
2. Different account (admin, both domain and local)
3. Downloading trial from Autodesk, installing
4. Complete removal of .NET, reinstall
5. Enabling updates (mentioned in thread)
It installs just fine on other machines, same enviroment. I cannot find a "checklist" of system components needed for Inventor to install correctly; I've read from other threads it needs .NET, C++ Redistributable, that's about it.
Is there anything I can do without wiping the machine? Is there a checklist for versions of components required for Inventor to run?
I have my own ctb settings for CAD I need the same in Revit. How I export the ctb settings from CAD to Revit.

I position it correctly, then press enter-nothing happens. i RMB and select OK, and when i check again-the coordinate system remained in it's previous state. I did it a few times with 2 sketches and gave up
When ever I want to change the sketch plane for a already finished sketch, I use rmb, redefine and choose new plane/ planar face.
Why does the sketch position change from the original coordinate point when redefined to new plane?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had several sheet metal parts return error messages to edit the sketch coordinate system after the part has been modified. This usually pertains to a dimensioning drawing made to the flat pattern. I have found how to edit the coordinate system, but I don't know what to edit it to. If I select the center point I can drag it from where it sits to an existing corner and select done but that seldom resolves the issue. What is Inventor looking for? I sometimes get a message asking if I want to edit the axis as well but what to do there.
Why can't these sketches orient off the center point that is already in the model? If it would stay put I could dimension to it and be done but it has to twist and turn the model and then put the point on some corner, not usually where I would like it and then I get these errors if I alter the model later.
I have some trouble with my coordinate system, it doesn't work like i want it to do...
This is how it's now:
Sketchplane = YX(+Z)
Sketchplane view = Front
Groundplane = ZX(+Y)
Groundplane view = Bottom
Home view = Front(up), Bottom, Right
But I want it to be like this:
Sketchplane = YX(+Z)
Sketchplane view = Top
Groundplane = YX(+Z)
Groundplane view = Bottom/Top
Home view = Top(up), Front, Right PERMANENT!!!
