AutoCAD Inventor :: Check Build Version Number

View 2 RepliesMy question is if my team is working in one central model is it importmant to be using the same build number? Or does it "not matter"? I was once told it does matter so we are all using the same version of revit and minimizes errors from different builds.

Now I'm going to upgrade the Notebook to Win7 or Win8 and re-install the CorelDRAW HOME & STUDENT SUITE X5 then. Will this re-installation be registered as a 2nd installation? If yes, how can I de-register the old XP-Installation? I plan to provide the other two installation options to my 2 children and don't want to loose one, therefore.
With the sad fact that we have to save files into older versions of Corel for other people to open in their Corel Draw, is there an easy way to check an existing CDR file to see which version it is saved in? File-Document Properties DOES NOT seem to do it, although that would be a great place to have it.

I tried the tube and pipe run to build this segment, and cannot select the route from the 3D sketch.
This route was based off of a 3D sketch made from included geometry from another part.
Tried sweeping too - and get error that the sweeping operation did not produce a meaningful result.
But I don't get the self intersecting error.
All this is is a .250 OD and .180ID profile that needs to be run through the path.
I included the part file.
I built an assembly made of some sheet metal parts.
Now - I wanted it to be easily changeable, meaning: in order that each part will adjust according to the other, for instance, it's length, height etc. , and will move with it and adjust, I first made work points on the mating part edges, and then in the relevant part's sketch ( I made the work point inside of the part, not the assembly!) I projected the point.
I was sure that because I see the work point with the "adaptive" symbol , the workp point will move with the parts if I change the dimensions.
It didn't work: For some reason when I'm changing dimensions, the work point stay where it was, even though it's with the "Adaptive" symbol, which makes me wonder what does it really mean (the symbol) if it point won't move along with the part while it changes.
What is the best way for me to do it? Did I have to project the points/edges in the sketch without doing a "work point' before?
My experience with the inventor lately shows that this method isn't working either. I'm sure there a "right" way to do it!
This is very important and elementary thing to do - to adjust part (with their sketches) according to the other.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm starting with a tube and want to add a weld build up around the OD on both ends. I mainly want to do this so that when I create a sectioned view on a drawing, you can see the difference in hatching between the original tube and the weld build up. I've had to create sketches on the drawing up to this point.
The photo I've attached shows the tube and shape of the weld build up. the green line is where I would like the tube OD to be, and the weld build up would be everything above that.

I'm trying to simulate an assembly line that draws sheet metal off of a spool. I need to
1. Build the spool. I don't have the slightest clue as to how to do this. I would just create a really long sheet and then use a command to "roll it up".
2. Animate the spool unwinding. I have have rollers on an assembly line that, in real life, would draw the sheet metal out. I can drive these rollers but how to get the rollers to "drive" the sheet metal.
Is it possible to build a deployment package that prompts for the serial and product key when it's being installed? We have about 90 or so Engineers, our company refuses to pay for a network license and wants the pacakge deployed out through SCCM. But because of the way our company is set up we've got about 70 keys (some are multi activation. I could just build a package for the Standard and Premium suits and just prompt for the serial during installation.

I'm trying to build an assembly with conical rollers rolling on a cylindrical support. Refer to the attached sketch. I'd like to be able to constrain the conical faces of the roller to the cylindrical surface of the support. It doesn't seem to be possible to do that in Inventor; or, more accurately, it's not possible to put a tangential constraint on both conical faces at the same time. The first tangential constraint causes the part to place a generatrix line parallel to the axis of the cylinder. (I had to look up what generatrix means, too.) So it's not possible to make the second tangential constraint.
How I can do this? Just in case that's not difficult enough, the reason I'm doing this is because, ultimately, the support will not be a plain cylinder but actually a tube that also curves. It's the behaviour of the roller through various curves on the support tube that I ultimately want to model, but I have no hope of doing that if I can't even get the roller constrained onto a plain cylinder.
I have an ipart that will has the length and a quantity of patterned features controlled by a table. I've created a work plane that I'll be using when I take this part into an iassembly. The problem is that the features I used to create this work plane (midplane between two parallel planes) do not exist in (2) of the (3) members...so it gives me an error message. I've tried adding the work plane to the table, but 'exclude' isn't a drop-down (and typing it in doesn't work). How to make the work plane "inactive" for those particular members?

I am having issues getting my .dwg files to check back in to Vault Basic. I can get all different types of files (.iam .ipt .idw) to check in without issues, but .dwg files hang and Inventor will eventually lock up.
I've tried disabling Visualization and I still cannot make it past this point. I can even tell it to check in everything at once, and it will breeze through the other files but any .dwgs will hang.

I am running Inventor 2013 with vault 2013 on a brand new system. Everything was working great for a week or so, then inventor started to lock up during checkin. It would lock up with even a small simple part. I had the IT department try to remote in and change settings, with not luck. Then they "rebuilt" the system over again, this got things working for about another week and after that the problem started up again.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe are currently using Inventor 2010 Professional Suite. Most of the users here are working with AutoCAD Mechanical. For the most part, it does the job. The person that previously used Inventor has moved on to bigger and better opportunities. Recently a new person was hired to utilize the Inventor software for initial designs. The original software was loaded on a new machine and everything seemed to work fine. Inventor was able to checkout files from the vault and were able to be manipulated accordingly. The issues began when the individual started to check the files back into the vault. It would appear everything works fine but the files never appear in the vault. Even if we create a new directory and attempt to check them in, the new directory is created in the vault but the files will not check-in.
If we use AutoCAD Mechanical, the files will check-out and check-in fine using the addin tools. It would appear all the rights are setup correctly. We even changed the new user to administrator and it still did not work. No one else has Inventor installed, but I am about to install it on another machine this Thursday when IT is in.
We have attempted to even drag the files into the vault just to see if that would work, even though we know this method is usually not the best. Still no success.

how the check in/check out process works, and how that's related to the information in the project files (if it is)? I'm thiking of basic questions, such as how does Inventor know when a file is checked out, and where is that information recorded.
For reference, I'm using Inventor 2010 in a non-vault environment, with single-user projects, on a small corporate network. I've been using 3D CAD since late in the last millenium, but I've only been using Inventor for one year. My previous CAD experience was with Solid Designer, Solid Edge, and SolidWorks.
