AutoCAD 2013 :: Check With Which Version Drawing Is Saved?
Apr 3, 2013How can I check with which autocad version a drawing is saved?
View 8 RepliesHow can I check with which autocad version a drawing is saved?
View 8 RepliesWith the sad fact that we have to save files into older versions of Corel for other people to open in their Corel Draw, is there an easy way to check an existing CDR file to see which version it is saved in? File-Document Properties DOES NOT seem to do it, although that would be a great place to have it.

What I have is a nice production drawing, that has NEVER even been opened in C3D2013. I JUST finished adding labels for some new pipes and structures that are in an Xref. I saved the drawing and closed it to work on a different project while plotting. In SSM, I select the sheets to Publish, the first 4 plot without issue, then I get a CER without a Fatal Error...I can still work on the nbow current drawing...it appears that SSM crashed while loading the aforementioned sheet I had been working on.I close everything down, restart C3D2012, open the same drawing I had just labeled, says it needs to be recovered, so I let it finish loading (I've found that stopping the load will almost always cause C3D to hang indefinitely), close that drawing, then run recover, finds 2 errors, allow to fix, am greeted with the message box "This drawing has been saved by a newer version of C3D. All C3D commands are disabled in this drawing."Â
Wait a dang minute, SSM crashes and somehow (the save time is still the same as when i manually saved it in 2012) saves it as a C3D2013 file...even though it is still opening as a 2010dwg format file? Opening the file in Notepad even shows it was last saved in 2012.
I just want to know how will I open a drawing file if its saved on an older version and I am using a latest version of autocad.

Even though my save preference is set 2010, anything saved during a titleblock update is in 2013.
Noticed this in 2013 & 2014
I'm in AutoCAD 2013. I've been working on a drawing everyday (was just working on it yesterday), but can't open it now. I just get a blank gray screen when I open if from within AutoCAD. When I open it from my computer drive while AutoCAD is closed, AutoCAD opens and I get "Drawing1.dwg." I've tried the RECOVER command, but I don't get a response. I tried RECOVERALL command which let me choose a file to recover, but it responded saying it could not recover the drawing.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a capstone lab project due tomorrow for my graphic arts class and I made a HUGE mistake!!! I created an image using 20 something layers and did SAVE AS as a .xcf image (with all layers open). Part of the project was to save in different formats: .xcf (with open layers), a .png, and a .jpeg (optimized). So, I did the first save and then flattened the image to SAVE AS a .png with a different file name.
Long story short, I was tired and had way too many images open at once. When I was closing all of the images I accidentally saved the changes (flatten image) to my original .xcf (with open layers)!!!! Now, my .xcf that is supposed to have open layers only has one layer...the finished project!! I tried going to the file properties to restore a previous version, but it says that no previous versions were found! I also downloaded a norton "unerase" utility, but maybe I am not scanning properly to locate the file!?!
I have drawings (some with more than one sheet) from inventor 10. Now I like to open it in inventor 2013. The first sheet is showing, but I can't open the other sheets. I can print them, but I can see a listing of it or go to the sheet.
FYI, until December 2012 I worked in Inventor 10, now I have inventor 2013, so everything is new to me.
I am using the Autocad 2013 educational version. I have a drawing with a .ctb file. When i print, it is printing with the lines in colour. I would like the lines to print in black or grey. I assume I need to change the plotstyle to a monochrome.ctb plot style, but cannot work out how to change the plot style.
Is the plot style changed in the model or paper space of the drawing, or in the print menu?
- I have looked extensively under File/ print and can find nowhere to change a plot style.
- under File/ plot styles I can select from a list of .ctb files - but it only allows me to edit them - not apply them to the drawing.
- In the drawing under the properties inspector i can see a plot style menu and it is currently showing the option ' bycolour' when I click on the pull down options menu, there are no other options. There is also a 'plot table type; but it says this is ' not available'
-When i type plot styles in the drawing it brings up a bring s up an edit plotstyle table window, and this has a pull down menu that displays arrange of plot styles , but when I select one it only allows me to edit the plot style table and save and close. It does not actually apply it to the drawing.
I'm trying to customise my drawing templates to keep them up to date and also include accountability.I seem to be having trouble in including the name of the person who has last saved the model, and the date the model was last saved.
Manually including this information isn't ideal as people will forget, and it makes it harder to trace revisions.I can't see anywhere on the iProperties where the 'Last saved by' feature is available, but I thought maybe the information could be pulled from the username from the application options?
The last saved date should be easy, as there is a modified date in the model's iproperties; however, I cannot pull this information.I have used other cad packages in the past and this was never an issue. With all the customisation of Inventor, I thought this would be relatively straight  forward.
In Inventor 2011, where is the equivalent of "Help - about"? I want to check the build version number etc.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do I check to see if jpg images have been saved at a resolution of 300 dpi?
What if my original jpg image resolution is less than 300 dpi and I require 300 dpi; Is it possible to resave them to a smaller image size and in doing so increase the dpi?
What if a jpg image says it is ‘.jpg @ 25%RGB’ and I am supposed to save the files in CMYK; What is this ‘Mode’ setting and can it be changed through resaving the jpg somehow, or is it changed to CMYK when you open it in Photoshop and choose CMYK in the'Rasterize Generic PDF Format' window?
I am using XP and Photoshop 7.
One of our users, lets call him USER1, has recently received the following message when attempting to save an assembly:
"A later version of this file has been saved by USER1. Saving the file would overwrite changes which is not allowed. If you wish to preserve your changes, use the Save Copy As command."
To get to this error message, our user opens an IDW, then the IAM linked to that drawing. Changes made in the IAM are changing bolt lengths, adding fasteners from content center, things like that.  After saving inside the IAM this message appears.  There are multiple users on our network; but only this user is working the assembly in question when the message appears?
what makes this message appear, and how it can be avoided?Â
The computer at work is saving the 'old version' files in the parent folder instead of the old versions sub-folder. Where is the setting for changing this?

What filter (or combination of filters it may have been?)
I am using Inventor 2012 64 bit with Win 7.
We have a lot of drawing that has some extra sheet for ref. and Inventor let me exclude count and print from those extra sheet. This work fine but when we check-in the drawing to vault it update or publish all sheet to dwf. This is very compass for us because we full the dwf file from vault to release and the sheet count is different than the print out.
Is there a way to EXCLUDE those sheet when check-in or update dwf?
I'm wondering if it is possible to check-in drawing into vault using i-logic?
If you check-in a drawing into our vault, it automaticly exports a .dwf to a storage server. We also have a simple button for making .pdf of the drawing to sent to the customer.
What i want to ensure is that the .dwf file and the .pdf file are the same. So when i press "make a .pdf" the rule will save my document, make a .pdf and (if possible) check it into vault. So from that point the .pdf for the client and the .dwf on the server are the same.

Is there a way to check a drawing to see if it's been cross referenced in another file?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Inventor 2013 with vault 2013 on a brand new system. Everything was working great for a week or so, then inventor started to lock up during checkin. It would lock up with even a small simple part. I had the IT department try to remote in and change settings, with not luck. Then they "rebuilt" the system over again, this got things working for about another week and after that the problem started up again.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I edit a picture and save the result (using either "save" or "save as" and making sure there are ticks in "Save in Elements Organiser" and "Save in version set with original"), the edited copy is often (perhaps 3 times out of 4) treated not as a new version but as a new file. When I close the edit, I am told that there is a new file in a watched folder. When I accept this, I am offered any tags which were applied to the original (which works a bit) but then have to find my way to the edited file and the original, and manually make them into a set. It adds a couple of minutes to each edit. I am using Photoshop 11 on a Windows 8 laptop with a 1000GB hard disc (with about 100GB free). My catalog is quite big- about 70,000 items. I am a long-time Elements user (since the original?). This problem is fairly new (ie months not years)- certainly since I moved to V11. This is independent of the format of the original (in my case, RAW or jpeg) or the edited file (in my case usually jpeg).
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn AutoCAD 2011 and 2012 my spell check  instantly recognizes a misspelled word as soon as you enter a space after the word as you type.Â
AutoCAD 2013 does not recognize the misspelling until I go back (still within the text editor) and click on the word. Only then will it show the red underline. This is using Dtext only. Mtext works fine.
For the bad spellers or missed keystrokes, the fast "on the fly" spell checking was great. How to get my AutoCAD 2013 to behave similarly?
I am getting the attached error when trying to check in an assembly and idw. The Vault is pointed to the C drive, so I'm not sure why it isn't finding the files within the C.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working on a project to assign balloons to components in drawing view automatically. Of course, I don't want to assign a balloon to a component which is invisible (hidden) in this drawing view.
So, is there any API function to check whether the component in the drawing view is invisible or hidden?
I use a building key for building reference (inserted as a xref into the individual drawings) in many of my drawings. I have layers for specific areas and rooms. I turn off the layers on the appropriate drawings (if the drawing is for room 301, I make sure all other layers are off and only 301 are on).
My problem come when I add a new layer to the key and since the key in xrefd into many drawings it shows up as always being on.
This makes to have to go back and do a little bit of layer control each time I change the xref.
VISRETAIN=1 only keeps the layers set to last save and everything added to the xrefs are basically taken from the xref (color, visibility, etc). Is there a way to set a variable so that you have to check the new xref layers before they show up on the referenced drawing?
I am running cs6 on both PC and Mac. On my pc if I save a Photoshop file on it as a save as, it does not open the file immediately. I have to close the original file, find the file then open it. Very time consuming and also confusing if you are working fast. On my Mac if i save a document in Photoshop, doing a save as, it saves the doc, and opens it right there and you just continue to work.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have recently started working with civil3d 2012 & 2013 so go easy one me...
How can i check the elevations of 2 alignments that cross (junction)?
The localization team in Israel has added a utility that marks the junction on the profile view with a red flag and 2 marker lines, one for the existing ground and one for the elevation of the crossing alignments. The flag is not a civil3d entity, it's not dynamic and needs to be reset after each change.
Any better way of checking the elevations? (including adding a block or anything to the profile to show the other alignment name and elevation).
