I am working with a fellow Inventor user who faces determining if a set of assemblies, on the file system, are complete and not missing any parts, references, etc. Aside from opening each one in Inventor direclty and manually verifying if the design is at least able to resolve al parts, is there any way to automate or semi-automate this check?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using LR5.3 since the update. For the past couple of weeks I've been having difficulty with backup. The error message is that it is failing the integrity check and won't backup. If I unchecked the integrity box, it does backup. If I check the integrity box it fails backup and say that the catalog is corrupt. When I restart LR, it does repair and I;m back where I began. This problem began cropping up a couple of weeks ago. I've reinstalled LR, I've done a full scan of my computer and still, it continues. I'm on Windows 7.

Once I check that the thickness does not equal 1/4" I want to assign the sheet metal rule to be user defined. Here is what I got so far:

I've done an Addin which contains a "Place iLogic Component" function. This funcion work properly and the iLogic form is opened at place component time. Now, i would like to be able to open the form after the insertion, for edition purpose. So, i'd like to open the iLogic form of an assembly component (occurence) with the context menu for example.
So, my question is : Is there a way to check if a part or an assembly contain an iLogic form and to open it through Inventor 2012 API ?
I am trying to check-in an assembly, however there are missing .fins,.fsat,.ftes, fmsh and .fres files that cannot be found on my local machine, in the vault or on the other machines on our CAD network.
is there a way to remove references to these files so the assembly can be checked into the vault?
I am using INV 2012 and I wan to to know a trick how to convert the weldment assembly back to regular assembly template.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have an iLogic assembly with to parts in it. Maybe to cylindrical parts. The iLogic rules should do the following.
1. Start a Rule after open document.
2. This Rule starts a Rule in the first cylindrical component.
3. This Rule ask the user for a diameter.
4. The assembly gives this new parameter value to the second component
5. Then the assembly calls another rule in the second component to change it with the new parameter
Everything is working fine when the following combinations are taking place:
1. I open up the assembly out of vault or from a local drive or an accessible server drive
2. I insert the assembly as sub assembly in another assembly from a local drive or an accessible server drive
It don't work with the following situation:
- I insert the assembly as sub assembly in another assembly out of vault
Then the user becomes the dialog "Choose a diameter" twice.
I don't know why, but I have the idea it has something to do with the functionality of inventor to insert a component more than once. If you insert a component in an assembly Inventor gives you the opportunity to add more than one occurence after each other.
change that behaviour? Maybe a switch to change that inventor "add more than one occurence" behaviour.
I have encountered a problem with the Tube and Pipe styles.
As you can see, I have a rack assembly with a custom tube and pipe style. A wire as a tube in orange, and a tube support in white. Both have their seperate colorations at a style in the tube and pipe styles editor
When placing the rack assembly into the main assembly, it reverts to the coppor coloration I changed from the original style.
Steps I've taken:
Exported the styles .xml and Imported the styles into the master tubeandpipe.iam
Imported the user created .xml styles into the main assembly file nothing seems to work
I am trying to find the interior volume of an assembly (when am I not?!?!) by subtracting the assembly from a block that surrounds the most of it. Somewhere the assembly has a "leak" and I have been trying to use the Cross Section Analysis to track down where the inside lump is connected to the outside lump to be subtracted. Is there a less time consuming way to dynamically drag a plane across and get cross sectional views?
Even better is there a simple way to animate the analysis plane moving across the block so I can hopefully just watch and pause it when I find a leak?

it is possible to make a constraint that utilized a parameter of a part within the assembly.
For example, if I wanted to use the thickness of a plate, which I defined in the part, could I call that parameter in a constraint?
My assembly has grown (about 50 parts) to where I need to consolodate some parts into subassemblies for reuse and alternate iterations of the basic design.
When I import the original parts into a new assembly, all of the constrains I created are not there of course.
I've tried creating a new empty part and then deriving a new part from the assembly, but I can't add, delete or edit any parts.
I looked at using Shrinkwrap, Substitutes, iParts, Multi-body Parts, and Multiple Solids but I remain confused.
In retrospect, maybe I should have created the subassemblies between the part and assembly stage but I didn't.
I want to be able to control the location/position of a component in an assembly. This is easy enough through the iProperties/Occurrence tab and then adjust the location of the X,Y, and Z offsets. Is this possible using iLogic? I have been unable to find a function to access via iLogic. Ultimately I am trying to translate a component about an axis not a pattern.

I have a two part duct fire damper assembly. The IDW has the combined two part assembly, which I know how to turn the CoG on, so that it can be dimensioned. The problem is each piece will more than likely be hoisted separately so I would like to show the CoG for each piece, not the combined master assy.is there a way to do this?

I am having issues getting my .dwg files to check back in to Vault Basic. I can get all different types of files (.iam .ipt .idw) to check in without issues, but .dwg files hang and Inventor will eventually lock up.
I've tried disabling Visualization and I still cannot make it past this point. I can even tell it to check in everything at once, and it will breeze through the other files but any .dwgs will hang.

We use iproperties to describe our parts and have a 40 character limit. Is there any way ilogic could be used to check and possibly warn if an iprop field exceeds 40 characters?

I need to create a form with several options, corresponding to parts to load/unload. Only 1 checkbox can be activated at a time, so when I check a check box, the others have to be unchecked. In VB this should be radio buttons, is it possible to have the same issue in iLogic with checkboxes ?

If I run this on a part that already contains any of these user parameter names I get an error. Is there a way to first check for each name and skip to the next if it already exists?

I am running Inventor 2013 with vault 2013 on a brand new system. Everything was working great for a week or so, then inventor started to lock up during checkin. It would lock up with even a small simple part. I had the IT department try to remote in and change settings, with not luck. Then they "rebuilt" the system over again, this got things working for about another week and after that the problem started up again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are currently using Inventor 2010 Professional Suite. Most of the users here are working with AutoCAD Mechanical. For the most part, it does the job. The person that previously used Inventor has moved on to bigger and better opportunities. Recently a new person was hired to utilize the Inventor software for initial designs. The original software was loaded on a new machine and everything seemed to work fine. Inventor was able to checkout files from the vault and were able to be manipulated accordingly. The issues began when the individual started to check the files back into the vault. It would appear everything works fine but the files never appear in the vault. Even if we create a new directory and attempt to check them in, the new directory is created in the vault but the files will not check-in.
If we use AutoCAD Mechanical, the files will check-out and check-in fine using the addin tools. It would appear all the rights are setup correctly. We even changed the new user to administrator and it still did not work. No one else has Inventor installed, but I am about to install it on another machine this Thursday when IT is in.
We have attempted to even drag the files into the vault just to see if that would work, even though we know this method is usually not the best. Still no success.
