My question is if my team is working in one central model is it importmant to be using the same build number? Or does it "not matter"? I was once told it does matter so we are all using the same version of revit and minimizes errors from different builds.

If I build a wall using mass then I can make it into a pattern that I want but then I can't paint it so that's it's clear or see through. On the other hand if I build a wall just using the walls then I can't find an option for the block pattern.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to build a curtain wall panel family (see attached). I want the extremities of the solids to be glued to the surrounding frame. I want to be able to scale the model inside the frame with different curtain wall panel system sizes. 5'x4', 6'x8' etc... I am having problems with restricted constraints. I do not know what I am doing wrong. the model inside the panel are created from soild extrusions. if I align the solid extrusion from one side of the frame , only that side will grow or shrink with frame, and makes the model look weird. I tried to group the solids with reference lines in them glued to the reference line grid i created in the panel and that did not work. I want to be to scale proportionally the model inside the panel.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen you do a Save As or Save Copy As in Inventor the part number in the iProperties is automatically updated to match the new filename. I would expect the Document.SaveAs method in the API to act in a similar way. However I found out that this is not the case.
SaveAs: Document.SaveAs(filename, False) does not update the part number. The new part will still have the same part number as the original part. This can give problems since in the BOM parts with the same part number are interpreted as the same physical part.
SaveCopyAs: Document.SaveAs(filename, True) does work as expected and the part number will update correctly.
Is this a bug in the API? or is there a reasonable explanation for this?

We typically extend steel stringers past the bottom tread to the point where truncating yeilds a 4" vertical edge. This is done to match adjacent 4" high baseboard. I understand that the sketch lines can be extended BUT can it be done with this precision?
Is this beyond the capabilites of Revit?

I have Revit 2012 on a old laptop. I tried to install 2013 on a new laptop, but had this same problem and gave up. Now, I need 2014, so I'm readdressing the issue.
In my template file, I had to modify the column grid tag. Now, the inserted to starts at the number 2 instead of 1. How to reset the number to start at 1?

I want to modify the Room number label so that the rectangle outline displays smaller (less wide).

First of all I have noticed that there are (2) keynote areas in my wall type object properties dialogue box and the only one that works when I go to tag it with a keynote is the number keynote. Stair tread number tool is wonderful. BUT it is being not printed properly.
Example image attached:
- 'on screen' on the left is taken from my screen. The numbers are shown correctly.
- 'after print' in the middle is a black&white pdf print by adobe pdf. you can see there is the last number missing.
- 'after print-random number missing' on the right is a coloured pdf print also by adobe pdf. several numbers are missing and it happened randomly.

I'd like to do this ahead of time, and preferably without having to open and insert into Revit. I know Revit uses adpointcloudindexer.exe to index the raw file formats, but was unsuccessful at trying to launch it by itself. Is there a way for a label (detail number/sheet number) to rotate with a section tag rather than remaining horizontal?
Is there a way for the same label to flip along the main horizontal reference plane of a section tag?
We do not use the traditional circle head and when the head needs to rotate or flip the 'pointer' lands on top of the label.
I think I have exhausted all combinations of checked/unchecked boxes for 'Keep readable' and such.
I currently use Mep 2012 although my question I believe is general in nature. As a sheet metal contractor I do drawings that have many different entities at various elevations. Many times I use change propeties to match the propeties of on entity like a linetype to change another. What I really need to do is have the ability to use a similiar button and match or change the "Z" elevation of a specific entity just like I do for linetype, color etc.

In preparing to build a new box for CS6 standard and LR4 (Win7, 64bit), I am not finding much info on how much video card memory CS6 is likely to be happy with, or, more accurately, what the upper limit of its usage is likely to be.
I'm running a card with 1GB now in CS5 standard and I have found that some GPU operations, such as Oil Paint in Pixel Bender, will choke and fail on 12MP, 16bit images -- normally after CS5 delivers this warning: Storage requirement for complex filters may overload GPU when processing large images.
do I need more GPU horsepower, more VRAM, or both? I know that Photoshop can allegedly get by with some fairly pedestrian hardware (I'm using an nVidia GT440 at the moment), but I plan on upgrading when building new. I'd just like to know if 2GB of VRAM will ever be used by Photoshop and how beefy a GPU I really need for processing the aforementioned 12MP, 16bit images (at some point that MP number will only become larger).

export PATH=/opt/gimp-git/bin:$PATH
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/opt/gimp-git/lib/pkgconfig
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/gimp-git/lib
then from same shell:
git clone git://git.gnome.org/babl
cd babl
./autogen.sh --prefix=/opt/gimp-2.8
make
sudo make install
So far, so good. Now when I try to build GEGL against the new BABL I get after
cd gegl
./autogen.sh --prefix=/opt/gimp-git
