I have a student that has chosen to draw a baseball stadium as a project. He has inserted thousands of seats and has thousands more to insert but has already starting to experience some lag when viewing in 3D. Is there a way to handle all these seats so that it is less memory intensive? Does it work to group the elements?
I'm using PS Elements 11, I have a large # of pictures to resize (over 500). Is there any way to resize a large # at one time? Doing one at a time takes up a lot of time, I was thinking if I can do 20-50 at I time.
I am trying to reduce the file size on a large number of jpeg photo's for unsertion into Windows Movie Maker. How do I compress the slides in a batch job? Can I do it in Photoshop Elements?
I am trying to learn Edge Animate and I have not seen enough animations to know how this is typically handled and I searched the forum and have not found an answer either.
If you have many different elements and symbols for a project, what is the best practice for having them appear, disappear, etc. on the timeline? I ask this question not only from a performance based perspective, but also keeping in mind the idea of preloading. This is a 2 part question:
Part 1: Using elements and symbols later in the timeline:
Since artwork is always imported directly to the stage in an "always on" status, should we place a visibility OFF on every item until we need it? or should they be opacity 0 until I need them?or should they be set to visibility hidden until I need them?
Which of these is the best option if you don't want the element / symbol visible until later in the timeline? Does it matter?
Part 2: Impact on page loading
Does the above question have any impact upon page loading speed or is this something handled in preloading?or do you need to make a special preloader?
I have about 2000 fonts installed on my iMac, however only about half (maybe even less) are showing up in Photoshop. Is there some kind of max that Photoshop can handle?
We get about 50000 photos in a short period of time, about a month, that we need to correct, label, convert to CMYK and rename very quickly. We've gotten good and fast at all of these, but rotation still gives us a lot of trouble.
We have to use Explorer to do a manual sort on the photos before we do anything else (using the expedient of an LCD monitor rotated through 90 degrees). We seem to run into trouble later, when using Bridge to manage the rest of the work, because the thumbnails in Bridge don't always update to reflect the file's actual state (rotated or not); the old File Browser did have the 'rotation pending' flag, and supposedly did understand the orientation setting saved by the camera, but not always. One way to deal with this is to rotate the files before Bridge encounters them, but this has involved a huge time hit. So this part of the potential solution involves asking you all for advice regarding dedicating a machine to doing this and nothing else - I need for it to be lightning fast, like 2-3 sec. max per rotation,
I installed a large number of fonts on my computer (27720). Mostly all of my programs that use fonts Word, FIreworks, Dreamweaver, etc.. work just fine. But Photoshop chokes on them when loading and its performance goes to nothing causing it to freeze/take very long times to do anything (start up even).
I'm assuming its trying to do some big operation with them at start up. Does anyone know of anything that might might fix photoshop (CS) into skipping or avoiding what ever it is it does with fonts that makes it so slow when given a large amount?
Obviously the apparent solution would be to remove the fonts and I would if it were all the programs acting up, but it's just photoshop and im hoping there is some easy option fix :/.
Is there a way to re-size heaps of photos at once? Instead of having to go into the menu and changing the size, photo by photo? For example: If I download pics from my camera how do I change them all. Also, does anyone know how to make a folder name and it automatically updates all your .jpg file names for you? For example, a folder could be Jack's 21st and all pics become jack's21st001.jp jack's21st002.jpg etc.
Any way, through acad.lsp or similar, to check "Yes" and "Always perform my current choice" for all users in the dialog below? I just don't know if this is a system variable or something else that is easy to set.
I am looking to create a collage made from 100 photos (all taken high res) to be printed large, approx 120cm x 50cm. To be able to print this size I need to keep the high resolution and hence looking for a large file output.
I have a part that requires a large number of fillets. What would be the best approach, so it doesnt take 5 hours to update the model everytime i update something on the model?
If I accidently turned it off and can not find it in the Hiddeen Messages Settings dialog, is there a variable or registry key or other trick to turn it on again?
Would be interested in a variable for the "missing shx files" dialog as well.
I have an STL (mesh file) file that I converted into DXF file, and then imported into Inventor.
The file contains a surface (meshed) I would like to create a thickness for each face. Since, the number of faces is very large, I cannot do it manually, is there an option/ trick to select them all, or perhaps a different way to create a thickness to the meshed surface.
i m new in auto cad 2010 i today i face new problem i dont this is what? the message is that " the drawing contains a large number of annotation scales do u want to reset the scale list? "
I do a lot of township layouts and it is cumbersome to calculate each properties size and type in into an excel sheet. Is there a faster way to calculate all the stands's sizes into database?
I have Revit server setup, with my Central server at Head office and a local server at one our smaller office. We have some large files (600 MB +) we need to sync and update. The issue we are finding is the initial download of the files takes a very long time and we want to know if it is possible to take a copy of the file from the central via USB/Disk and place it onto the local server or the local user? Then start editing and get the sync to work with only file changes. Is this possible and if so where do I copy the file to once I have it at my local site?
My plans are printing fine, but elevations and any 3d view print with the majority of the drawing missing. I'm guessing it has to do with the raster images used on walls for textures, but besides that I'm stumped. I'm trying to print in realistic view, because of the material textures that need to show up.
I've turned on sun lighting, as well as tried various PDF printers, but no change. When I go to the print preview it appears to preview incorrectly. The file is pretty small as the project is just a modest house. Pretty much all the settings are 'right out of the box'.
When I shift back to just 'Hidden line' mode and look at it in print preview it seems to print the drawing fine, but then the titleblock and firm logo dissapear. The actual PDF when printed is fine.
I'm working on revit 2013, in WIndows 7 inside parllels on a macbook pro.
I'm trying to activate a student version of Revit 2014, and I'm getting this error message: The serial number you entered is not valid. Try again. (1)
I have Revit 2012 on a old laptop. I tried to install 2013 on a new laptop, but had this same problem and gave up. Now, I need 2014, so I'm readdressing the issue.
My question is if my team is working in one central model is it importmant to be using the same build number? Or does it "not matter"? I was once told it does matter so we are all using the same version of revit and minimizes errors from different builds.
In my template file, I had to modify the column grid tag. Now, the inserted to starts at the number 2 instead of 1. How to reset the number to start at 1?
is there any way to schedule objects by id number?, maybe through a formula within the schedule that may call the id or the revit API and if that is the case
In sections the scale of the hatch appears very large. Attempting to change the scale via /properties/ material/ cut pattern/ fill pattern/ edit/ import/ change scale/... has no effect!
I want to modify the Room number label so that the rectangle outline displays smaller (less wide).
The rectangular box for the room number doesn't show up even when you open and try to edit the family, nor any parameters show up. How do you modify this box and make it smaller?
First of all I have noticed that there are (2) keynote areas in my wall type object properties dialogue box and the only one that works when I go to tag it with a keynote is the number keynote. How do I get the text keynote to work within the wall type object properties? note I am trying out creating keynotes within objects rather than having them point to a text editor.
where to find the build number of my Revit Architecture 2012-that is within the software I've installed. I know what the latest build number is. so want to check I have it.
We're putting together a large scale (2000+) development of various housing types. These are modular units, and there is a lot of repetition (obviously). In all there are probably 6 main types, each of which has mirrored alternatives. Whilst the houses are identical, the individual plots do vary to respond to topography and the infrastrucural layout.
What is the best way of organising this in Revit ?Ideally we would like to schedule the types, walls, roofs as well as the ground works for each. I am not sure what the best approach to this will be.
Initially I had tried setting up a few house types as 'groups' then using individual building pads for each plot - this does not lend itself to scheduling overall numbers though.
I had also thought about modelling the house types as a separate file, and linking them into the masterplan, duplicating as necessary (not sure how this will work re. mirroring though). The level of detail needed in the masterplan isn't as detailed, so long as the external / internal plan is visually correct (annotations and drawings for individual houses can be kept in the relevant house type Revit file).
I'm still not sure that the linked model approach will allow scheduling though ?
We would really want to schedule the numbers of overall house types, as well as totals for materials (although that could be extrapolated from number of plots * materials for each type).I'm also concerned over file size and performance. 2000+ houses in the single model is likely to be a pretty big hit.
