AutoCad :: Redraw Floor Plans - Correcting Large Drawings

Jun 19, 2013

I have a task to redraw floor plans of an existing object (5 floors of 5000m2)... The problem lies in the existing drawings which contain incorrect dimensions.

Now, since the shape and position of elements is generally correct I am able to approximate to a 0.5-1.0m (witch I find annoying).

My question is:

How would you do the task having in mind that when SOME correct dimensions turn up (are measured on site) correcting the rest doesn't become a pain.

Illustrator :: Manage Large Picture With Many Tiny Objects?

Jan 5, 2014

The picture in question is a mosaic made up of thousands of tiny shapes in Illustrator. It is about 28 in x 48 in but there is white space around the image. I am less than a quarter way through, and I am noticing that Ai is starting to be slow when refreshing the screen e.g. when changing zoom. The file is 13MB. I am concerned that the image will be too large for Ai to handle efficiently. Need to break the image down into quarters and put them together right at the end, or do you think Ai will cope with the size and complexity efficiently? If I have to make separate sections, is there a useful technique to use?

Photoshop :: Hardware - Rotating Large Number

Mar 2, 2008

We get about 50000 photos in a short period of time, about a month, that we need to correct, label, convert to CMYK and rename very quickly. We've gotten good and fast at all of these, but rotation still gives us a lot of trouble.

We have to use Explorer to do a manual sort on the photos before we do anything else (using the expedient of an LCD monitor rotated through 90 degrees). We seem to run into trouble later, when using Bridge to manage the rest of the work, because the thumbnails in Bridge don't always update to reflect the file's actual state (rotated or not); the old File Browser did have the 'rotation pending' flag, and supposedly did understand the orientation setting saved by the camera, but not always. One way to deal with this is to rotate the files before Bridge encounters them, but this has involved a huge time hit.
So this part of the potential solution involves asking you all for advice regarding dedicating a machine to doing this and nothing else - I need for it to be lightning fast, like 2-3 sec. max per rotation,

Photoshop :: Loading Large Number Of Fonts

Jun 16, 2005

I installed a large number of fonts on my computer (27720). Mostly all of my programs that use fonts Word, FIreworks, Dreamweaver, etc.. work just fine. But Photoshop chokes on them when loading and its performance goes to nothing causing it to freeze/take very long times to do anything (start up even).

I'm assuming its trying to do some big operation with them at start up. Does anyone know of anything that might might fix photoshop (CS) into skipping or avoiding what ever it is it does with fonts that makes it so slow when given a large amount?

Obviously the apparent solution would be to remove the fonts and I would if it were all the programs acting up, but it's just photoshop and im hoping there is some easy option fix :/.

Is there a way to re-size heaps of photos at once? Instead of having to go into the menu and changing the size, photo by photo? For example: If I download pics from my camera how do I change them all. Also, does anyone know how to make a folder name and it automatically updates all your .jpg file names for you? For example, a folder could be Jack's 21st and all pics become jack's21st001.jp jack's21st002.jpg etc.

AutoCad 3D :: Using 2D Plans To Generate Rendering?

Apr 4, 2011

Which software application can I use to create a rendering of an elevation from just 2 dimensional dwg plans and elevations? I was interning in an office where the developer hired a render to develop illustrations of our design. The render said he only required our first floor and second floor plans, and the elevation we wanted rendered. The turn around time was very quick (24 hours). I was surprised as building a model takes me a long time. The cornice was very detailed, it would have taken much longer to build a model.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Workflow For Plans And Sections?

Nov 21, 2011

I'm slowly trying to make the transition from AutoCAD to AutoCAD architecture.

The main thing that is confusing me is how to organise the project so that plan, section and elevation sheets will all update from the original construct whenever it is changed.

I'm confused about plans and sections...should I draw my section lines from the annotate panel directly onto the 'construct drawing' and then use that as my plan or should I create a plan view of the construct (...how?) and then draw the section lines over that plan?

AutoCad 2D :: Renovation Plans Overlapping 2D Lines?

Apr 19, 2013

Im currently drawing renovation plans, sections and elevations, and i have a prexisting set of drawings, a after renovation set of drawings and would like to achieve the intersecting of this two sets with objects/lines in yellow for whats going to be demolished and red for whats being built and white for whats to remain untouched.

I started by setting a yellow color for the first set and red for the second set. And worked my way to the excrutianting task of breaking and setting this two sets of 2d drawings.

Is there a command or routine that allows me to break a line were two diferent lines overlap in the drawing. I was wandering if i could do that i then would only have to overkill the entire drawing..

AutoCad :: Errors With A3 And A4 Plans - Cuts Off Top And Bottom Of Plan

Jun 16, 2011

We use this function constantly for A1 drawings. It is such a great feature since 2010.

But I get errors with A3 and A4 plans that cut off the top and bottom or even sometimes the left and right hand sides.

I have set it to ISO Full Bleed, but still I don't know how to get it to print.

I am using our standard title blocks which print correctly to paper and to third party PDF creators.

How to wrestle with this command to get it to print with bigger margins?
