- is there a way to update automatically the fields (date for example) in all the layouts with a single command.
- is there a way to update the same text in all the layouts (for example changing the adress or the name of the project written in the title block - like in word with search and replace function)
Settings on the User Preferences Tab (Options Dialog Box) control whether fields are updated automatically or on demand (FIELDEVAL system variable). The Date field cannot be updated automatically regardless of the setting of FIELDEVAL.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe replaced a plotter that is used as the default plotter by 90% of our CAD files. When we go to plot it obviously can't find the plotter anymore and defaults to no printer. We then need to select the new plotter and reselect the paper size.
Not a huge issue by itself, but when you have a drawing with say 25 layout tabs it gets cumbersome.
assign this new plotter and correct page size to all layout tabs in a drawing? If not is there a way to at least have it maintain the paper size when selecting the new plotter and not have it auto select a different page size?

I have a job where some one has manually written valves into the titleblock fileds that should be coming from sheetset manager is there a way to reinsert the titleblock and have the fields come back.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I add an object field in paperspace to report on the scale of a viewport in the layout, as I return to that layout and zoom in or out the viewport displays as hot in MS (tab reports as PS) and leaves the MS information of my previous visit embeded on the layouts neutral background and the "new" zoomed MS information is added to modelspace. The background objects cannot be selected or deleted but if I go to the block editor screen -choosing any block for my selection, when I close the block edit and return to the layout, the objects are cleared. I have installed service pack #1 for v12 and I lso have installed V13. I didn't notice this problem prior to the service pack or usin v13. I have an Intel i7 processor, 64 bit.

eg: if i have a field "Smith" in Layout 1, 2, 3, 4 (linked between them) and i want to change from Smith to Johnson , if i change it in Layout 1, it will automatically change it in all Layouts.
In the attached file, I have a piece of MText with a series of fields, one of which the date and time updates each time you REGEN.
However, I cannot create a date and time field that updates during a REGEN.
In the attached file, you will see the one that updates (along with a screenshot of the field variables I used), as well as other examples where a date and time field will NOT update (along with a different screen shot)
1. Why this one particular date field will update each time I REGEN
2. Why I CANNOT create a new date field value to update each time I regen
I tried different date field values, but I simply cannnot create a new field that updates with a regen.
I have a couple of attributes suing fields within a block. But they don't update on opening. I need to do a manual field update to get them updated to the latest values.Tried various combinations of "fieldeval", but this was no good.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI created a dynamic block to represent a room in a floor plan. It displays the dimensions and area of the room and can be stretched. But it's defeating the whole point of being dynamic. The area won't update unless I do a regen.
I've seen comments blaming MTEXT for the problem, so I tried putting the area field in a line of TEXT or DTEXT. It still didn't update unless I did a regen.

Attached drawing file. What I am after is the ability to be able to stretch the length and/or width and update the two feilds depending on the new distance. At the moment each time I specify the distance parameter as the object it works then when you close and test the block it just shows #### as if that object no longer exsits.
The second problem is i am trying to be able to stretch the comms rack width and to update the door to the rack (the dashed part of the block) to the same length as the width of the rack. Ie atm the rack and door is 600mm and 600mm if the width was updated to 800mm the door will also scale to the same. I attached example in white just below the block.
I'm using ACA2012 x64 but I suppose this question is applicable to all flavors of AutoCAD. Is there a routine that will insert today's date in a drawing and update that entry when the drawing is opened? Fieldeval won't update date fields.

View 6 Replies View RelatedBasically, I want to get the sheet set to automatically label in my title block the TOTAL sheets of the sheetset. I have a field within each drawing for the current page number of the sheetset, that is an easy one, what is hard is how do I code the second field to display the LAST page of the sheetsets page number?
Example:
My text looks like this: Page 4 / 10. Say I have 10 sheets, all in the sheetset and numbered. What I have done in the past is set the first page number to Current Sheet Page Number, but in each sheet set the second part to the last page number, in this case sheet 10. The problem comes later if I add in a sheet or two, to push the total sheets to say 12, I would then have to go through each sheet individually to change that last page component to sheet 12 instead of 10.
Is there an easy way (and Im sure there is) to just set that last field to automatically reference the page number of the final sheet in the sheetset, no matter if it changes or not? How do you do it?

I'm about ready to put together a large job that is going to have a lot of sheets. Since most of my jobs are one sheet plans, this is out of my comfort zone. I usually just have a scaled cover sheet/border that I drop into model space and put whatever I need into it there and then print it. This job has several mini jobs in one huge model space. I think It's going to be better for me to actually use paper space as its intended this time. I'm using 2010. Just a skeleton of an order of operations, so at least I have something to search for detailed instructions.

I have a table that has fields from my sheet set with drawing names etc...but everytime I click download from source it converts the field to plain text.

For example if I am doing address labels and I have fields for City and State:
Their positions are absolute, and the state ends up overwriting the city for long city text, as does the comma.
What I want is for the comma to follow the last letter of the city, and then state to follow that.
And yes, I realize that I can combine all three into one field, but I am asking this as a general usage of the feature. One doesn't always have control over the source.

I created a drawing for a client and created blocks to represent handholes. They now need to go back to the blocks and add the HH number and fiber size. How can I add to blank att fields to the blocks so that I can send them the drawing and have them enter the information manually?
I searched around and only see solutions for adding attribute labels to the block.
On a road project I have an acquisition parcel that is matched across 2 viewports on one layout. I would usually slide the parcel label so it's only visible on one layout. Then I'd add a second label that would be visible on the second layout.
This line happens to cross the viewport near the end. If I add a label in the lower viewport that looks reasonable. It will overlap in to the upper viewport. I can drag the label to very near the end of the line but it doesn't look right there. I don't think it's good procedure to try and force one parcel label on to it's own layer so it can be frozen in that one viewport.
Any technique for handling this situation?

I have created a new layout from Templates that are the C3D standard templates. I get the below messages in my command bar and subsequently my template does not have any of the blocks, north arrow...nothing. Just a blank sheet. Why? See below messages that I copies from the command bar....

I have made a model with 40 viewframes. I have used the option to export 4 layouts to one drawing. My question is can I revise the original model and get the revisions automatically updated in the 10 drawings or do I have to redo the export option?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have for a while been wanting some code that would run through all the layouts in a drawing and place a box in model space of where the viewports are looking and save a view and layerstate at the same time. I looked into doing it with .net and posted a query here but it all started to get a bit hard in .net.
So I did a bit more googling and found a lsp solution that get most of the way over on the swap here
It cycles thru the viewports and placed the box in model space to save the view and layer state I have to inject some more code into the rountine along the lines of
