Nov 6, 2012I am using the profile sample VB.net program to create an alignment, profile view and profile. The profile view defaults to start at station -0+25. I want to set the Profile View starting station based on the "Align_strt_sta" value I have defined based on the Alignment Stationing. I have tried the .StationStart() shown below, but I just get a unhandled exception.

I wanted to get the (x,y,z) of the stations of an alignment, but sounds not to work.

Jan 18, 2013I have created a slope stake report and have just noticed that there are stations missing. The stations are there in the cross secitons but not there in the slope stake report.
All sample lines were created at the same time. All surfaces are present throughout the entire cooridor.

Oct 1, 2012I have daylight_cut at say station 100, then sampled every 20m, however it connect from station 100 all the way to 1000 for example. because there is no such code in between. why can't it create seperate features lines? the thing is sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't.
see the redline cutting across the corridor? shouldn't be there.

Dec 4, 2012I have an alignment and would only like to label stations and specific geometry points such as EC/BC. When I add geometry points to my label set it automatically gives me curve midpoints and beg/end of alignment. How can I turn off these labels so that I only get BC/EC?

Oct 20, 2011I am having an issue with my section views. Some of my subassemblies are only showing on certain stations. If I view the stations on the cross section editor, the corridor looks just fine, but when I go to the section sheet where the corridor is x-referenced, the driveway disappears.
I have rebuilt the corridor numerous times, detached and reattached the drawing, made a new drawing and recreated the sample lines to no avail. Attached are some pictures to show the disappearing driveway on the right side of the street.

Jul 29, 2013What could be the trick with corridor section editor in C3D 2014, applying overrides to a stations range won't work. After selecting or typing end station in the 'apply to a station range' prompt nothing happens, the overrides just will not be applied.
To apply overrides for an subassembly (curb depth etc) I must go through all the stations set by corridor frequency in the station range. This is not file specific, as it is the case with all my projects.

When a Station Equation is added to an alignment it causes all of the profile views to get messed up. In addition once the EG profile changes the entire FG profile may also need to be changed. See this video I uploaded to Youtube that fully explains and shows the problem: [URL] ........
So, any way to some how lock the profile views start and end stations? Or to some how lock the PVI locations on a a proposed profile to certain stations?

When I exported same alignment to Google earth , it showed the length as 190m ( the difference increases with increase in length of alignment) And also the profile view of the alignment in the Civil D & Google earth varies.

I have created one that excludes Civil objects (Excel Civil.jpg) but when I add a filter for excluding xrefs as well the Civil objects appear in the filter again indeed all the layers are included again (Excel Xref.jpg) if I invert the filter nothing is displayed.

Apr 16, 2012I am trying to work on a previous file in my office, and when it opens on mycomputer, it does not display as it should.
In general, the purpose of the project is to reinstate the side slopes of a road abutting a river. Cut & fill sections have been generated on 20m station increments along the road corridor/surfaces in order to calulate cut and fill as well as to reference the design to flood levels.
When I open the file, all of these sections (and there are alot) have relocated themselves to various locations in model space, none of which are aligned with the viewports that are being used for printing.
Could it be software and/or hardware incompatibility with the computer they were originally created on? (I believe it was created with C3D 2010, or C3D 2011 - I am currently running 2012)

Oct 23, 2013Just curious as to whether people use much colour in their production drawings, particularly for hatches...?
Working for Local Government, we tend to utilise colour hatches to show all kinds of information.
Generally, we have found that colour hatches are a good way to clearly show different areas and materials such as pavements, paths, landscape areas etc. Hatches can then be used to quickly ascertain areas for estimation and our construction team like them too as the plans tend to be easier to read.
The usual arguments about reproduction of plans and slowing down of computers doesn't seem to be an issue for us. Most photocopiers are in colour now anyway and we just make sure that even in black & white the plans are readable.
The way that Civil 3D deals with hatching doesn't seem to slow things down for us either.
Currently using Civil 3D 2013 & 2014 SP1
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Viewing Civil Objects In Regular
Aug 30, 2012Right now, the only way I know of being able to see Civil grading objects (surface contours, spot elevations, slopes, etc) while using plain vanilla AutoCAD is to explode everything and export to a lower version.
I'm trying out a trial of AutoCAD 2013 to test things, and my Civil drawing shows up as boxes/text when xrefed into another drawing without doing the task above.
I'm looking for a more efficient way to see grading using AutoCAD (not Civil). Civil is expensive, and I'd like to downgrade the drafters who don't know how to use the Civil functions (and never will), but still need grading to show as a dynamic xref in the background of the drawings they're working on. Problem is, if I have to explode and export my drawing every time I want to update the grading xref in their drawing, it wastes more time than I'd like.
Is this the only way and I have to live with it, or am is there an easier way that I haven't dug up yet? I know I'm not an expert at Civil, so I may be going about this all wrong.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Using STB Rather Than CTB?
Oct 26, 2012I've begun creating my drawing template with all my layers and each layer has a plot style attached to it. The line weight is set to default. I am doing a test plot with a drawing that I have to see what it looks like. The pen table is set to my .stb table but when I go to preview, my linework doesn't show up.
I have checked my setting for my layers to make sure that they are set to plot.
In my plot dialog box, if I uncheck "Plot with plot styles" I can see the linework but it doesn't plot right (plots in color). Unchecking "plot object lineweights" doesn't do anything either. What am I missing?
