Is it possible to insert a "field" instruction in the drawing template to get automatically the stations (beginning and end) of the long profile for the sheet considered ?
Example 0+700 - 1+400
I am using the profile sample VB.net program to create an alignment, profile view and profile. The profile view defaults to start at station -0+25. I want to set the Profile View starting station based on the "Align_strt_sta" value I have defined based on the Alignment Stationing. I have tried the .StationStart() shown below, but I just get a unhandled exception.

This is using Civil 3D 2012 Service Pack 2.1
When a Station Equation is added to an alignment it causes all of the profile views to get messed up. In addition once the EG profile changes the entire FG profile may also need to be changed. See this video I uploaded to Youtube that fully explains and shows the problem: [URL] ........
So, any way to some how lock the profile views start and end stations? Or to some how lock the PVI locations on a a proposed profile to certain stations?
I've created a set of templates, A3, A2, A1 A0 etc.
When I open the .dwt at A0 it is fine, the correct dimensions for A0, everything is how it should be.
Now, when I'm in a drawing and go on the tabs, right click, "From Template", select the A0 template and it opens a new tab as normal.
However, the paper size is correct, A0. But the actual frame with the attributes is very small in the cornet, about 25 times smaller, so I'm thinking units, mm to inches, but all the INSUNITS are set to 6.
I am using Autocad 2012, I made a drawing frame template up in model space, then saved it into the DWT template folder, when I go into Layout and into insert to insert the template it will not show up.
I reloaded the DWT template back into model space and saved it as a DXF and I am able to insert the dxf template in Layout using the insert Block.
I can get the job done by using the dxf template but I would like to be able to insert the DWT template.
Is it possible to insert a second template into a drawing, so you can have two different titleblocks in layout (paperspace)

As there is not any auto-update tool (or I dont see) I need to displace the profile 123,46 meters from 1021.27 stattion.
I made an alignment of road, inserted with sample line, then i made a profile. But on the sample line on profile, there is not a data of height and lenght of profile. How to get those data in road profile. I can manually draw that, but i think there is an easier way?

I created a template, AFTER the drawing was created, and would like the drawing to HAVE that template.
I have a 2011 template drawing that I've added all the information to that I know about how to survey in C3D. I've used it for a few years now and it works great for us. We now have to update it for used in 2014. IT has told me that I need to create a new 2014 drawing and bring the 2011 styles, groups, etc. into it that way. I used the management import tool to do this in 2014. Seems like all the styles, etc. came over just fine. Any way to test whether or not the template drawing has any garbage in it, such as purging and auditing, so all the bad stuff is gone? C3D - 2014
View 9 Replies View RelatedI created a drawing where I created a grading object (pad) under a site, a couple of alignements, etc.
After deleting everything to maintain layer states and settings, I saved the drawing as a starting template for day to day drawing (left it as a dwg, not dwt)
When I start a new drawing from a saveas of the template, it says that there is already a grading group named 'pad' but there isn't anything shown in the prospector. Purge hasn't worked. Any ghost entities left in a drawing.
I've also noticed that if you screw up a grading and try to delete the entire site and start over...you get weird results too. It's like it remembers old stuff you did (ghost entities) and won't let you start with a clean slate.?

I have created linework using the line by object tool. I have created a surface and am trying to add breaklines by selecting some of this linework. Once I try to create the breaklines, it says that all those breaklines contain errors and have not inserted them into the drawing.

Is there a way to "push" them from the current drawing to another on?
Here is what I am picturing:
Right click on a style on the settings tab and choose "Send to Template"
"Template" would either be a predefined DWT file or it would open a standard file selection dialog to select one.....and this would copy the selected style into the template.
I’m having a user profile issue on one computer. I have a user, using windows 7 and AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014 on his work station. When using Civil 3D he has two issues: one, he cannot import Dgn’s. I’ve tried everything it just won’t work. Second, he cannot xref or insert PDF’s into a drawing. Now the reason why I say this is a profile issue is because if I log on to his computer (or anyone else log’s on his computer), I can do all those things in Civil 3D, import DGN’s & insert/xref PDF’s. If this user log’s on my computer, he can do all those things in Civil 3D. Import DGN’s & insert/xref PDF’s. Something with his profile on his computer is corrupt and I’m trying to fix it without deleting and creating another user profile.

Civil 3D Section .dwt (Template/plan production) has only layouts for A0 and A1 plan and scales 1/500 - 1/1000 and 1/5000. I tried to change the format to A3 and scale to 1/200 of one of those layouts in the set up manager but didn't get a good result while producing section sheets.
I created a drawing document in AutoCAD LT using custom drawing properties and then inserted them as the text in blocks using insert field. I did this in AutoCAD 2012. I am now working at a new company that is using 2007. I cannot seem to access the feature in 2007. In what version did this feature become available?

I tried both xref'ing and inserting as block into my drawing and it was over 7,100' SW from my site. BUT when I copy from 0,0,0 in his drawing and paste 0,0,0 in my drawing, it lands on my site. If I xref my drawing into his drawing, it lands on his survey information. Why doesn't his drawing land on my site when I xref or insert as block?

I have also taken one 12"RCP and made it part of a network along with the catch basin and manhole at its start and end. When I click "draw parts in profile" it places both structures and the pipe, but in reality only a portion of the pipe crosses the alignment. I'd like to only display portions of pipes that cross the alignment at a fixed width form that alignment, say 2' to each side of it.

This is a company requirement so when the drawing is printed, it shows the date of printing. The field just shows the date that the field was inserted and doesnt update. If i replace it, i get todays date but it stays on the date.
How to get this to always show the current date?
