AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Updating A Template / Push Them From Current Drawing To Another On?

Jul 27, 2012

I know you can "pull" styles from a drawing (maybe the template) into your current drawing.

Is there a way to "push" them from the current drawing to another on?

Here is what I am picturing:

Right click on a style on the settings tab and choose "Send to Template"

"Template" would either be a predefined DWT file or it would open a standard file selection dialog to select one.....and this would copy the selected style into the template.

AutoCAD LT :: Updating Drawing Template

I seem to recall there is a method of substituting old drawing templates with the latest version on open drawings, but for the life of me can neither remember what the command is or enter anything into the ACAD Help search that results in anything remotely useful .

Is there a macro/script/deisel that will automatically print a pdf (cute pdf autocad lt 2007) to current plot settings in current drawing directory and give it the current drawing view name and number? Disk space not a problem these days and would save time to have a pdf copy of all drawing tabs readily stored in the directory ready for issue.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Change Data Reference Path In Current Drawing

Jul 12, 2012

i have this drawing which i created data reference to the wrong project in the wrong coordinate system and worked off that. then now i am trying to correct it. so i copied the dtm and did coordinate transformation and got that right. now the model drawing is still linked to the original dtm from the other project folder.

if i remember right back in 2007 version there was a completely built in shortcut editor which allows you to change the path in current drawing. now it's all greyed out. there is no access. so is there a way to bypass this? probably pretty common thing to do. say you want to try different version of the same object to try your design just swap it back and forth.

They should make a right click button on the data shorts in current drawing and says "browse data reference" not show up when only broken reference occurs.

one way i can think off now is copy the files to local. disable network drive, then let it broken reference show up then browse to desktop one then delete desktop one and hopefully it get the broken reference again and not look for the very original one. i think it's probably gonna do that, there is some "hidden" thing stored in the object to point to the original path which not available to users.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2014 Template Drawing Setup?

Oct 17, 2013

I have a 2011 template drawing that I've added all the information to that I know about how to survey in C3D.  I've used it for a few years now and it works great for us.  We now have to update it for used in 2014.  IT has told me that I need to create a new 2014 drawing and bring the 2011 styles, groups, etc. into it that way.  I used the management import tool to do this in 2014.  Seems like all the styles, etc. came over just fine.  Any way to test whether or not the template drawing has any garbage in it, such as purging and auditing, so all the bad stuff is gone? AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Ghost Entities In Template Drawing?

Feb 22, 2013

I created a drawing where I created a grading object (pad) under a site, a couple of alignements, etc.

After deleting everything to maintain layer states and settings, I saved the drawing as a starting template for day to day drawing (left it as a dwg, not dwt)

When I start a new drawing from a saveas of the template, it says that there is already a grading group named 'pad' but there isn't anything shown in the prospector.  Purge hasn't worked.  Any ghost entities left in a drawing.

I've also noticed that if you screw up a grading and try to delete the entire site and start over...you get weird results too.  It's like it remembers old stuff you did (ghost entities) and won't let you start with a clean slate.?

Mudbox :: Updating Textures In Current Scene

Aug 23, 2011

im using 3dsmax 2012 & mudbox 2012, & the problem is when after im texturing the scene (mudbox) i want to updating textures in current scene features to 3dsmax, the problem is my mesh always repositiong or scaled down etc. everytime i had to always realign (affect object only) the pivot to correct positions or rescale back.i tried to matched the units setup on max & still the problem occur. fyi im only do texturing part by part because i cant texturing the whole model on mudbox at once because of its to heavy for my pc.

UPDATE 1ok i found the main culprit is - the pivot. the stubborn pivot keeps retain its old position which is not center with the objects when im updating..Now struggling to find solutions for this stubborn pivot

UPDATE 2Ok i found the solution.make sure reset your pivot back to its original positions.(aka Reset Pivot)but the ugly thing is the original usually not centered, but its ok for me since i just want to do just the texture job.after texturing we can set the pivot center to object back again.

I could get all drawings in a folder copied to specific sheet size on the master template. As the template will probably be developed further in the future I'm very loathed to do this take manually.

AutoCAD LT :: Bedit Current Drawing Macro

Command: -bedit
Enter block name or [?]: <current drawing>

(A message box pops up saying, "The name cannot be longer than 255 characters."

If I click ok on the message box, AutoCAD returns to model space.  The file name is 30 +/- characters, and the path is maybe another 50 to 100 characters.  Can I bedit the current drawing using the command line, or must I use the dialog box?
