Oct 7, 2012I have around 700 pieces of dtext that all need to have their values raised by 10 is there any easy way of doing this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know you can "pull" styles from a drawing (maybe the template) into your current drawing.
Is there a way to "push" them from the current drawing to another on?
Here is what I am picturing:
Right click on a style on the settings tab and choose "Send to Template"
"Template" would either be a predefined DWT file or it would open a standard file selection dialog to select one.....and this would copy the selected style into the template.
im using 3dsmax 2012 & mudbox 2012, & the problem is when after im texturing the scene (mudbox) i want to updating textures in current scene features to 3dsmax, the problem is my mesh always repositiong or scaled down etc. everytime i had to always realign (affect object only) the pivot to correct positions or rescale back.i tried to matched the units setup on max & still the problem occur. fyi im only do texturing part by part because i cant texturing the whole model on mudbox at once because of its to heavy for my pc.
UPDATE 1ok i found the main culprit is - the pivot. the stubborn pivot keeps retain its old position which is not center with the objects when im updating..Now struggling to find solutions for this stubborn pivot
UPDATE 2Ok i found the solution.make sure reset your pivot back to its original positions.(aka Reset Pivot)but the ugly thing is the original usually not centered, but its ok for me since i just want to do just the texture job.after texturing we can set the pivot center to object back again.
Is there a easy way to change a style of previous drawn text in AutoCAD 2008. Years ago I though there was a lisp routine by Autodesk for that.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a couple of models (all using the same "stage" for rendering) and I split the models up into their own separate dwgs but retaining the stage area for each. What I'm having an issue with is rendering the current view in model space. What's happening is that I'll either get an all black (meaning nothing was rendered) or I'll get a rendered piece of the stage where a model once was set up, but not the current view for which I want (where the model is set now). So basically, the rendered view is pointing somewhere else. I'm not setting any of the camera views however to render; I've been using just the current view so I can get exactly what I want. I just need to figure out "how" to get it to render what I'm seeing on screen (consistently) and not something off to the side, or a shot of the wall or floor, or the old location of previous renders, etc. Sometimes switching back to 2D wire frame will fix the problem, but now it's not. I've tried setting the camera view current and that isn't working either. It still renders what was an "old" rendered view--like it's stuck in memory. Closing and re-opening CAD doesn't fix the issue. This is very frustrating. All I'm trying to get is a WYSIWYG rendered view.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have inherited the task of maintining out companies tool palette for all standard blocks. In my efforts I have found a number is issues with the blocks and have made efforts to update the blocks, first using bedit and then by navigating to the palette directory folder where the .dwg files for the blocks are stored. Regardless of these files being changed the palette still inserts the block revision prior to my changes. I have even re-imported the template file to no avail.
Is there a way to have to palette reference the updated files or is there a better way to update these blocks so the palette recognizes the changes immediately?
I'm attempting to create a table within autocad that I can update as I add new things to my drawing.
I have a ton of dblocks that carry attributes with them, and I want to be able to have the table in autocad populate with the information from each insertion.
The table in autocad will be linked to an excel spreadsheet that should also be updated (either as a separate action or automatically... not sure what would be better).
The table in excel will go through a system of formula that will divide it up into useable groups for me. How do I update a table within Autocad, instead of having to create a new table every time I want to add data to the extraction information?
Any settings that will automatically check changes to an xref and re-load it instead of just telling you "an xref needs reloading"? the problem is occuring when i go to publish and i end up with out-dated info because acad doesn't auto-refresh the xrefs.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a project where 60 drawings will be duplicated for each of a dozen sites. Each site has a four digit prefix (i.e. 800X) that is added to the drawing number, equipment callouts, leaders and various notes throughout the sheets. Even using Find/Replace, this is a lot of work to revise every time I copy them, so I’m thinking that this is a job for fields, no?
Well, I had no problem making a “global” field called SiteNo and inserting it into the title block. Then I inserted the same field into a couple of references in the general notes as well, where it works fine. But when I put it into several leaders sprinkled throughout the drawing I found a problem: regen or regen all will update the title block and note references (all in paperspace, of course), but not the ones in model space. I’ve tried putting the field in both mtext and dtext, and I’ve checked to be sure FIELDEVAL is set to 31. Nothing makes fields in modelspace update.
But I know that the field is set up correctly. If I doubleclick any modelspace occurance (text or mleader), then right click and choose “update field”, it fills in the right value. This however negates my goal. If I have to select each one, I might as well put it in as text and use FIND/REPLACE on each individual drawing.
I was REALLY hoping that I could go to the properties of the sheet set, change one box, and see all occurrences in all drawings for that site update, which is my understanding of the purpose and power of fields. I've spent a lot of time searching the web, seen a lot of issues and solutions, but nothing that quite hits my problem.
I have updated the drawing file with the paper templates which has the paper sizes as blocks. I have deleted the Paper template palette and gone via the design center to create the updated tool palette which should have the updated paper template blocks. For some reason it is still inserting the old blocks even though the new source file has the amended details.

View 8 Replies View RelatedCurrently we have about 30 sheets where we xref the same construction note and legend. The client is asking us to remove notes that don't apply to each sheet. For example, sheet 1 will not need note 2, 6, 10, 11. Sheet 2 will not need 3, 5, 10, and 11, etc.
Same goes for the legend- they don't want to see something if it does not apply to the sheet.
Other than bringing in those notes and legend into each sheet and modifiying it, I can't think of another way to do this. Previously, if I needed to change the wording of note 4, I change it once and I'm done. If I need to change anything now, I will need to open up 20 sheets.
Also, they want to remove the note completely, and not just cover up the note with "Not used this sheet."
At work we have been using layer states to set line weights and colors in multiple xref's for plotting demo and install drawings.
So what is happening is that we continue to receive updated files from other groups and I'm unclear on how to update the layer state to include the new layers that have been included in the updated xrefs.
I have various multi leader styles set up in my drawing. I place a multi leader (arrow and text not seperate mtext) then decided to change it to a different leader style let's say from ML48 to ML96. The problem happens when I try to change it again. It doesn't update to my new multi leader style. Example....from ML96 back to ML48 or any other style. It seems like I only get one opportunity to apply a different style.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThere are certain occasions where I would like to insert a block to inherit the current layer in an active AutoCAD drawing. This happens frequently when a client requires a certain layering standard and I have a block from another drawing with different layering standards. To correct this it usually involves several steps - Explode and change the layer, setbylayer, bedit, etc,
Is there a command to where I can directly insert a block and its layers change to the current layer of the active AutoCAD drawing?
I have a drawing with several views I've saved using the View Manager. Since creating the views, I have created some new layers. Now when I use View Manager to set an existing model space view current, the new layers are set to frozen. When I created the views, I un-checked the 'Save layer snapshot with view' checkbox.
I can thaw the new layers, then use the 'Update layers' button to correct this, but it's a hassle. Why is it freezig layers created after the view was created?
I want to export a dwg to pdf. It appears to do it, but doesn't. Keep getting
"ERROR: There were no plot table sheets in the current operation."
how to write a field that will add or subtract one from the drawing number. I'm adding drawing join line text to drawings so I need the text on the left to read one less than the current drawing & text to the right to read one more.
in drawing 005 text would read "joins drawing 004" & "joins drawing 006"
This is the field for file name (drawing number)
%<AcVar Filename f "%fn7">%
Any way to adjust this to add or subtract one?
I am using 2012 autoCad. I have created an external MS access database in 2010. I want to map some fields like Polyline areas to DB field. DBConnect wasn't that much usrful to me for external databse.(Or I might be missing something).
Is there anyway that I can map AutoCAD-2012 Polylines to External database field so that updating polyline auto updates the database??
I'm trying to edit our titleblocks. There is information we repeat at the top of the drawing like the drawing name, sheet number, total number of sheets, contract number, etc. It is ridiculous to have to type this information in twice. I tried creating both text and constant attributes at the top and insert field pointing to attributes at the bottom but all I get is ---- when inserted. My inserted field was ->Object->(selected attribute)->Value. I am using version 2011. I would think it should be easy to "repeat" values of attributes inside a block.
View 5 Replies View RelatedLong ago, everything was done in Imperial and now we are converting to Metric, the issue is that the drawings we have no schedule of members and we (a colleague and I) are constantly discovering new members, this is causing no end of trouble with our numbering system.
What we would like to do is set up a master-table with 5 categories (UB, UC, PFC, EA and UA) and then have the labels for all the members dependent on this table. If we were to change the value in the table, the label would automatically update. Is this at all possible? I looked into the Xref and RText commands and they seem close but not quite there. Ideally the table would be in a separate dwg so we can work on drawings at the same time.
I've got some Text Layers in my CS6 document.
In CS5, if I had Text Layers and changed the text on the layer (by double-clicking the "T" icon of the specific Layer in the Layers palette), the name of the Layer would change to reflect the new text I entered.
For some reason this behavior is gone in CS6. So, for example:
• I have a Text Layer with the word "Email" on my canvas. The Text Layer name also reads "Email".
• I double-click the "T" icon of the Email Layer to edit the text on canvas.
• I enter new text, "Contact". The text on canvas updates to "Contact", but the Layer Name remains "Email".
So, for accurate Layer names, I find myself having to change the text twice: once on the canvas, and then manually updating the Layer name as well. Is there an option or preference somewhere that I'm missing that would re-enable the behavior from CS5?
issue regarding attributed text updating when reinserting a DB. I have text override in a dimension, inserted a field into the text override but whenever I reinsert the block and change the values, the text does not update.
View 5 Replies View Relatedhow can i know if the current view/display is align with the current ucs?
let's say i have rotate the ucs about z axis 45 degrees and make it plan now i draw some things and then i change back to world
worlducs = 1
viewdir = 0,0,1
ucsxdir = 1,0,0
ucsydir = 0,1,0
but the display is still in the ucs z 45 (ucsfollow = 0) set the view to PLAN current (now the view is aligned) but the system vars does not change.
For a plan UCS, you would need to compare the VIEWDIR system variable and the cross product of the UCSXDIR and UCSYDIR system varaibles.

Is there a macro/script/deisel that will automatically print a pdf (cute pdf autocad lt 2007) to current plot settings in current drawing directory and give it the current drawing view name and number? Disk space not a problem these days and would save time to have a pdf copy of all drawing tabs readily stored in the directory ready for issue.
View 3 Replies View RelatedTechnique that can check the current plotter name for the current tab and assign it to a variable? i.e. can it be assigned to a variable to check if if equals "myplotter1". The next step - is there a technique to change the plotter name to "myplotter2.pc3".
I have partially done the latter part of this in the past using the -plot command line to ASSIGN a new plotter but I would really like to only run the routine if it really needs to.
I want to programatically create a text style in the current database based on a font located in the AutoCAD /fonts folder. After that, I want to assign that text style to a newly created DBText.
I am close but can't quite get it. Let's see what I have:
I still got errors and left it as comment.
using (Transaction newTransaction = newDoc.Database.TransactionManager.StartTransaction()){ TextStyleTable newTextStyleTable = newTransaction.GetObject(newDoc.Database.TextStyleTableId, OpenMode.ForRead) as TextStyleTable; if (!newTextStyleTable.Has("ROMANS")) //The TextStyle is currently not in the database { newTextStyleTable.UpgradeOpen(); newTextStyleTableRecord = new TextStyleTableRecord(); newTextStyleTableRecord.FileName = "romans.shx";

I get key not found error. Do i have to lock the document?
I just received a large floor plan and loads of the text is upside down. Usually I would use the TORIENT command in Express Tools although this doesn’t seem to work.
The error I get is:1 object was not parallel to the current UCS.No valid objects selected.
I’ve tried flatten, mirror & rotate but I still can’t get the text to display correctly.
I’ve attached a DWG file (2010 format) with a piece of text.
I'm trying to find a macro that will insert text into a certain spot on my drawing. I want to put it on a button so that when I click the button it inserts "REVISION - 12/5/12", or whatever the current date is, into my title block.

Why doesn't the station value update for the sample line once this is moved. For some reason I remember the station text on the sample line updating itself automatically in the past.
