Jan 22, 2013OK, I just did a new install of Civil 3D on a clean machine, were might I find the XML Reporting for 2013 so that I can edit the format and percision of the reports.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: SSA Sub Catchments Not Reporting
Jun 20, 2013Attached SSA file refers. When trying to create excel/pdf report, analysis data for only the first 6 sub catchments is created, the remaining 150 fail. Yet if I query each ones properties individually, the analysis data is there.
To me it seems like a bug in the software.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Reporting Of Points On Alignment Spreadsheet Defaults
Sep 9, 2013When I create a report from 'Staion offsets to points' to excel, the Station, (what I would call chainage) is coming up as 3+10.00 in the spreadsheet. I need this to be 310.000 so I can apply formulas in excel. How do I change this.
I've changed the alignment label style to show it as this format, and it works fine. I've also gone into 'Edit report settings' and changed alignment station display to ####, decimals to 3 places, yet it keeps giving me the same format with 2 decimals.
Also, in this report, how do I remove the metre symbol 'm' (i.e 1400m) from the offset and elevation display?
I need to create an excel spreadsheet with quite a lot of data, apply formulas, and I really don't want to remove every 'm' and rewrite every chainage.

Apr 22, 2013I am fairly new to civil 3d (currently using 2012) and have been tasked with designing a proposed landfill cap. The end goal i am looking to achieve is to dertermin the amount of fill that can fit within a footprint. If approved i would then design a haul road and swales. I understand the basics of grading however i have run in to a few issues while attempting this. Let me describe what i have tried so far.
-Obtained existing contours and created a surface out of this.
-Obtained proposed footprint extents
-Attempted "grade to elevation" using the footprint to grade up to an elevation using a 3:1 slope. Learned this tool does not work as i expected and abandoned this idea
-Attempted "grade to surface" using a 3:1 slope and a top footprint with an assigned elevation.
The final step i believe is creating what i want however the surface is not very "clean". Here is an example of what i mean; [URL]....... Is my feature line not simple enough or is my existing surface perhaps too complex?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Land XML Report Bearing Format
Dec 20, 2013I am trying to find where the formatting is for the General Legal Description bearings. I am currently getting an output of NORTH 00° 12' 33" EAST, but would like to eliminate the spaces in the DMS: NORTH 00°12'33" EAST. This is also the case with the delta angle for curves. When I run the Metes and Bounds report, the bearings appear without the spaces. I think that I have changed it before, but I have switched employers since editing the files.

The land usually has multiple soil types, a max of 4 types A, B, C, D
I also need to track the impervious, grass and tree areas going to an unknown number of outfalls
The impervious area can be broken down into structures, roadway, parking lots, sidewalks and other
Also you need to have this information for your existing conditions and your impervious conditions.
Usually I just delineate everything and hatch them with a layer like C-IMPV-A for proposed impervious soil type A
I have also tried creating parcels to represent the areas delineated, but when you get a couple hundred parcels it gets confusing.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Land Desktop Files In 2011
Mar 13, 2012When we try to open/save a file that was started in Land Desktop, we get significant performance slowdowns, lockups, and crashes in Civil 3D 2011. Most of these files only contain simple linework, labels, etc. (no Land Desktop surfaces, alignments, profiles created in project).
We've tested purge, purge regapps, audit, recover, Export to AutoCAD, and AECOBJEXPLODE (which produces errors). WBLOCK is not really an option in this case because we may have to reference multiple projects back to these original Land Desktop files.

I could drop the Existing Grade elevations by 25 feet, but then how would I create a separate Surface from the intersection of the lowered Existing Grade surface and the Top of Rock Surface?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Point Shift On Convert Land Desktop Points?
Nov 26, 2012I had inserted a Land Desktop drawing containing points in to a C3D 2012 drawing. There was a small difference in coordinates. I used Autocad move and rotate to adjust. This was fine because I only needed a visual reference. Now someone wants the information and I need to convert the Aecc points to Civil cogo points.
The problem is that the convertldtpoints command doesn't use the location of the point marker as the coordinates for the converted points. It uses the Northing-Easting stored in the AECC_Point object. Those are the pre-adjustment coordinates.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Drawing Land On Site When Xref Or Insert As Block
Jun 24, 2013I'm using C3D 2013. I received a survey drawing (unknown version) from a third party. I tried both xref'ing and inserting as block into my drawing and it was over 7,100' SW from my site. BUT when I copy from 0,0,0 in his drawing and paste 0,0,0 in my drawing, it lands on my site. If I xref my drawing into his drawing, it lands on his survey information. Why doesn't his drawing land on my site when I xref or insert as block?

Aug 15, 2012Typically at my company we rotate our drawing orientation under the Projects - Drawing Setup - Orientation. Rotate the drawing to a known basis of bearings. Then we label the boundary and the bearings are rotated to match the basis of bearings without having to rotate the drawing in model space. Just reciently my labels havne't been holding the orientation. So when I add a static or dynamic label the bearing reads as though my orientation is due north. BUT, when I loook at the line priperties, the bearing is correct, as it has held the orientation.

Jan 31, 2013I am currently writing a COM application that uses the Inventor 2013 APIs to open up and inspect CAD files. This utility is intented to operate on large amounts of Inventor data. I am using SilentOperation and Visibile properties to allow the automated process to run unmanned (i.e., suppressing any popups). However, there are occasions where Inventor will crash due to some corrupt data or some other system problem, which results in the CER dialog popping up.
The utility handles Inventor crashes by clearing out and restarting the session, but the CER dialog prevents this from happening until a user manually closes the window. I would like to avoid the complications of creating a monitor' that handles killing the Inventor.exe process in the event of a crash. Is there any setting - either in the application configuration or through the APIs - that would turn off the CER when Inventor crashes? I have seen solutions that disable CER for AutoCAD [URL], but I need to be able to do this in Inventor.

Aug 10, 2011Never seen this before, but I'm having an issue with mass incorrectly reporting in high level assemblies.
See the attached jpgs. The bracket reports a mass of 29.7 kg when opened on its own, but when checked in the browser of the next level up, its mass is reported (incorrectly) as 23.1 kg. A little investigation has revealed that the error is in the stiffening webs (which have been modelled as a single ipt). Again, if the webs are opened on their own, the correct mass is reported, but if the mass is queried in the browser of the sub-assembly, an incorrect value is shown.
In this case, it is not that significant, but if Inventor cannot be relied upon to report correct masses in higher level assemblies, this is a real worry.
Running Inventor 2009.

Revit :: Reporting A Host Layer Material
Dec 29, 2013I am putting an internal screen family together.
As the wall wraps do not work on the soffit (only on reveals), I have used a sweep to match the wall plaster thickness to provide a finish.
Is it possible to report the host wall finish material and have it assigned to this sweep automatically ? I have tried to add a finish layer to the host wall in the family - but have not been able to find a way of extracting the material value for this layer.
For the moment I have left it as an Instance property for manual correction - but automated would be great.
Revit :: Reporting Parameter For Stair Pitch
Jul 25, 2013Is it possible to create a Stair Tag with the pitch reported? I have a tag which includes the number and height of rises as well as the size of treads but I would like to include the pitch also. Obviously this would use the dimensions of the rise and tread in the formula Tan X = Rise/Tread, but how do I create this in a tag? I have looked at using a Reporting Parameter but every time I read the Wikihelp paragraph on them my eyes just glaze over as I cannot follow it at all but it does mention formulas....

Feb 8, 2012I'm currently using Autocad 2012 to design a land layout consisting of contour lines, roads, a restaurant, 2 parking lots, 4 little shops, a common area, and a walking path. The thing is, for the class I need to present my ideas in a better fashion than just looking at a 2D schematic from Autocad. I'm looking for the best program to use to easily construct walls for the shops, have car models in the parking lots, make the grass green, etc, and be able to almost create an animation walking through the site.
