Background: Our company has decided to switch from drafting in AutoCAD to Inventor (which we already use to model) and we have started looking at making our templates intuitive using iProperties, parameters, and functions to reduce manual entry of part information in turn to reduce human error. None of us have any experience coding besides a bit of LISP.
Problem: Perhaps it is a pipe dream, but one thing I would really like resolved is we have no connection between the Parts list information (specifically item number and quantity) on the assembly sheet and the part detail on another sheet. Our custom part detail title block pulls the material information and "Inventory Part Number" from custom iProperties we have set up at the part level, but we still need to reference the parts list in the other sheet and then manually enter the item number and quantity. Is there a way to use the "Inventory Part Number" property (which shows up in the parts list on a different sheet) to populate our custom block?
When we go to use the clip art in connect all the clip art images are boxes with an x in the middle and you have to physically open each one to see what the clip art is. Are missing something here, do we have to click on something to view the images in the file without having to open each image.

I would prefer to use Connect over Scrapbook but these are the two main file types I use.
Is there a way to view Painter RIF and PSD thumbnails in Corel Connect?

In the image below I have an aerial photo of an Island. I need to make it so as water areas are black and land areas are white (not greyscale) almost like a silhouette. My first plan was to draw round the island with a black paint brush and then use the "bucket fill" with a suitable threshold to fill all of the areas up to the black outline with black, however this doesn't work as the bucket fill either breaks through the black line or when I reduce the threshold, doesn't color the water areas solidly.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have made an exploded view and placed it an a drawing. I would like to view inside one of the bodies to show where the exploded internals sit, however when I do a break out of the body the trail lines from the exploded internals also get sectioned. Is there a way to control the sectional properties of a trail line?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a long shaft with parts mounted on. i want to section it and show the parts. i don't need to show the whole length of the shaft.
I know i can crop the isometric view, but this way i will not see the key hole which is on the other side, it's hidden.
If i make a section it 's in an orthogonal view only.
I want to make the section view, but later to transform the sectioned view to an isometry. is it possible?
i have been a long user of romcat... but would like to use the new corel connect. i use the folders selected to my HD folder that has all my cdr files (20yrs worth from ver 1). when i type in a search word that is in 100's of my cdr files keywords... connect doesnt display them. In romcat it does display them, even older files, with the same key word. connect only shows cdr files that have in its file name part of the search word, but seems to ignore the key words in the files.
I have all my job files with important key words within them, but the actual file names are simple job numbered names. i noticed on searches from X5 content on dvd, the files also are just numbers, but the search finds key words.
I am quite new with autoCAD and am catching up pretty well but the problem now is this. I need to make a building plan for a land measuring 100 x 75 ft but I do not know how to draw the scale on my work space using autocad 2012.

OK, I just did a new install of Civil 3D on a clean machine, were might I find the XML Reporting for 2013 so that I can edit the format and percision of the reports.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have bearings and distances but I am wondering if using PLIN is the best method to draw parcels in AutoCad Map 2012. I have a layer of the Townships, Ranges and Sections that I hope to align with the drawings. Most of the time it looks okay meaning they line up and for the most are where they are suppose to be but ever so often I have problems.

When converting Land Desktop Points to Civil 3D, it doesn't display point labels, descriptions, elevations, or point numbers. How do I correct this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI would like to export feature lines out as land xml file. Can this be done in Civil 3D or is there another work around.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI brought a site into a drawing by LandXML which had 35 feature lines in it. How do you get the actual linework of the feature lines to show up in your drawing? It shows them in the site but the linework is not there.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am fairly new to civil 3d (currently using 2012) and have been tasked with designing a proposed landfill cap. The end goal i am looking to achieve is to dertermin the amount of fill that can fit within a footprint. If approved i would then design a haul road and swales. I understand the basics of grading however i have run in to a few issues while attempting this. Let me describe what i have tried so far.
-Obtained existing contours and created a surface out of this.
-Obtained proposed footprint extents
-Attempted "grade to elevation" using the footprint to grade up to an elevation using a 3:1 slope. Learned this tool does not work as i expected and abandoned this idea
-Attempted "grade to surface" using a 3:1 slope and a top footprint with an assigned elevation.
The final step i believe is creating what i want however the surface is not very "clean". Here is an example of what i mean; [URL]....... Is my feature line not simple enough or is my existing surface perhaps too complex?
I am trying to find where the formatting is for the General Legal Description bearings. I am currently getting an output of NORTH 00° 12' 33" EAST, but would like to eliminate the spaces in the DMS: NORTH 00°12'33" EAST. This is also the case with the delta angle for curves. When I run the Metes and Bounds report, the bearings appear without the spaces. I think that I have changed it before, but I have switched employers since editing the files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using Autocad 2012 to design a land layout consisting of contour lines, roads, a restaurant, 2 parking lots, 4 little shops, a common area, and a walking path. The thing is, for the class I need to present my ideas in a better fashion than just looking at a 2D schematic from Autocad. I'm looking for the best program to use to easily construct walls for the shops, have car models in the parking lots, make the grass green, etc, and be able to almost create an animation walking through the site.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I work on a site I need to identify several different situations and organizing those situations is getting hard, how do you do it?
The land usually has multiple soil types, a max of 4 types A, B, C, D
I also need to track the impervious, grass and tree areas going to an unknown number of outfalls
The impervious area can be broken down into structures, roadway, parking lots, sidewalks and other
Also you need to have this information for your existing conditions and your impervious conditions.
Usually I just delineate everything and hatch them with a layer like C-IMPV-A for proposed impervious soil type A
I have also tried creating parcels to represent the areas delineated, but when you get a couple hundred parcels it gets confusing.
When we try to open/save a file that was started in Land Desktop, we get significant performance slowdowns, lockups, and crashes in Civil 3D 2011. Most of these files only contain simple linework, labels, etc. (no Land Desktop surfaces, alignments, profiles created in project).
We've tested purge, purge regapps, audit, recover, Export to AutoCAD, and AECOBJEXPLODE (which produces errors). WBLOCK is not really an option in this case because we may have to reference multiple projects back to these original Land Desktop files.
When I try to open a LDD file with C3D, the file locks up and won't open. It appears to happen only when the LDD file has an alignment defined.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI need to determine a limit of rock cut for a land development project. I have created surfaces for my Existing Grade and Top of Rock. Is there any way to determine the limit of rock cut within 25 ft of the existing ground, the volume of rock cut, and show the limit of rock cut on my plan view?
I could drop the Existing Grade elevations by 25 feet, but then how would I create a separate Surface from the intersection of the lowered Existing Grade surface and the Top of Rock Surface?
I am trying to find a volume of land cutting filling at particular level?
I import point file in surface 1
How to make surface 2 for particular level ..
I had inserted a Land Desktop drawing containing points in to a C3D 2012 drawing. There was a small difference in coordinates. I used Autocad move and rotate to adjust. This was fine because I only needed a visual reference. Now someone wants the information and I need to convert the Aecc points to Civil cogo points.
The problem is that the convertldtpoints command doesn't use the location of the point marker as the coordinates for the converted points. It uses the Northing-Easting stored in the AECC_Point object. Those are the pre-adjustment coordinates.

I'm using C3D 2013. I received a survey drawing (unknown version) from a third party. I tried both xref'ing and inserting as block into my drawing and it was over 7,100' SW from my site. BUT when I copy from 0,0,0 in his drawing and paste 0,0,0 in my drawing, it lands on my site. If I xref my drawing into his drawing, it lands on his survey information. Why doesn't his drawing land on my site when I xref or insert as block?
