AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Filleting A Solid
Aug 24, 2012If it would be possible to round the edges of the solid i attached as a .dwg file. I thought it would make sense to use the FILLET command but it didn't seem to work.

View 2 RepliesI have a.3ds file imported into Civil 3d. The object imported as a polymesh in Civil 3d. I need the solid 3d object to do some edit like slice or union and subtract.
The question is "How can I import .3ds into Civil 3d as a solid objects or hoe can i convert polymesh to solid?"
Sometimes when I am filleting lines they end up joining together like a Polyline. Is there a setting I can turn off that will not allow lines to join when filleting?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI made this surface joining different other surfaces. I would like to fillet this surface edge with edge, not face with face.Is it possible?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI keep getting an error that reads: "Cannot fillet between these two entities."
This occurs when I try to use the radius option when filleting an arc and a polyline. I am unsure as to why this occurs on and off on my drawing, as it has previously worked on other sections. I have attatched a copy to make things easier and highlighted three areas where I am experiencing this problem. I am using AutoCAD LT 2006.
I have a model that represents a casting with some finished surfaces that I'm trying to throw some fillets and rounds on but the software keeps balking at finishing the process. I've started at various points around the object only to be frustrated when I try to get the final edges to mesh with all the rest.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently obtained a new laptop with a Solid State Drive and, holy smokes, it's seems at least twice as fast as another laptop with comparable specs like RAM and processor. I used a stopwatch. It was incredible.
Things like opening the program, opening drawings and re-loading Xref's are all way way way faster than without the SSD.
To those of you who have added SSD, are you seeing the same boost? This appears to be an easy way for Civil 3D users to increase speed tremendously, without purchasing a whole new system.
I have created a surface in Civil 3D by adding contours....... Now that I have created the surface I need to Exoprt it to .sat / .stl files. But in order to do this I need a 3D Solid.
How do I convert this service to a 3D solid in order to the the export?
I have tried the thickening option in the 3D Modeling workspace but it doesn't want to accept my surface.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing (c3d 2013) provided by a subcontractor that contains high density laser scan data in the form of Acad solids. I have a bunch of conventional QC shots on the same objects, that I would like to compare to the scan data.
I can bring the QC shots into the scan drawing as cogo points, but when I try to measure the distance to the face of the solid, I can't get the perpendicular 3d osnap to grab the solid.
I am working on some car parks and am using corridors. There are some area's that consist of seperate regions to tie up corner areas and junctions etc.
I am using link codes to create hatch and would like to use non-solid hatch. But the hatch does not appear to line up properly between regions, as shown on the attached image.

We have this need to have all of the solids in a drawing to be placed in the "solid" layer.
Sometimes folks are drafting lines to develop these solids, and keeping the lines on the "solid" layer, rather than moving them to another layer, or deleting them altogether.
I could get folks to run this command before leaving the drawing.
I'm thinking something along the lines of:
Select all entities that are on the solids layer that are not solids.
If nil, great, do nothing.
If entities are selected, let me do something with them.
I'm hoping the following can be modified ever so slightly.
(setq non_solid (ssget "X" (list (cons 0 "3DSOLID")(cons 8 "solid"))))
I'm using 2D solid level band surface styles when generating simple flood maps - In order to manipulate I generally have to extract the surface objects (faces or hatches) which gives me a single face or object per triangle within the surface.
I then try and get round this by using a combination of various Lisps and Union to wind up with a single boundary that I can then use in ordinary AutoCAD and 3rd party software. However on big surfaces this is killing me as I have 50k+ triangles, so 50k+ faces or individual hatches, so its causing 15min long unresponsive stalls on my PC.
What I'd like to do is simply export the boundary of each level band to a polyline, or even better to extract the whole solid band as a single hatch object. Is this possible within C3D as it stands, or is there a lsp out there
Is there a way to create hatching for the slopes surface style instead of using solid colors?
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow to show arrows (solid or stick) between vertices in Profile views. It seems other design packages can do it so I hope C3D can as well, however I can not find anything detailing if it can be done or how. I attach and example so you can see what I mean. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to split a single solid body into 2 solid bodies. The problem is that the body I'm trying to split consists of two separate pieces. I can split a body when it is a single piece no problem, but I'm having the problem when the two pieces are not joined at all.
When I try and split it on the origin plane it gives this error:
"Creating parting line failed. Could not build this Split"
When I try and split it on a work plane lying on one of the pieces it gives this error:
"Creating parting line failed. Modeling failure in ASM. Redefine inputs."
Or, another variation on this erorr:
"Creating parting line failed. Split feature could not create two bodies. Change the Split Tool so that split feature can create two bodies."
I have finally created the shell of the complex surface that you see. This is only a section of the part because I cannot show the whole thing for proprietary reasons. I formed solid surfaces using the network command. The propblem is that it will not convert to a solid because the surface seams are not "water tight." When the network command created the solid surfaces, the surface seams do not exactly match the lines so there are gaps in all the seams. I have tried blending, patching, etc. and nothing works. how to convert this to a solid without losing the outlines and the shape?
