Is it possible to export a DTM (TIN surface) to ESRI's ASCII grid format (for ArcGIS)?
I've attached an example file.
Failing that, is it possible to export to a simple XYZ point file?
I'm working with many geometry like closed polylines, mpolygons and topology; in all cases, exporting to esri shp, 95% of exported geometry has a kickback point (always first and last point).
Doing map clean solve the problem in the dwg file, but the issue come back again when export.
I've got a drawing that shows the site boundary for a planning application, its just a polyline drawn round xref mapping. A client wants us to export this to a shapefile, or as ESRI format I've heard (its all a bit vague). I believe they want to have it as a Mapinfo layer.
The client has sent through some 'instructions' that are I've never even heard of ESRI format before.
I need to export points from a plot in ASCII with the following format:
x_initial y_initial z_initial x_final y_final z_final radio type
This is for a substation grounding design.
A and B are the initial and final points of the 1st line.
Since 2013 is the first version to have pressure networks, do I need to explode the objects before saving to a previous version? Or is there another method? I will lose all my properties if I explode the objects I believe...

AutoDesk is not my real strength (ESRI ArcGIS is), so I'm trying to learn what the best possible workflow is from AutoDesk Civil 3D users. We've used one solution using Safe Software's FME, but am looking for something that's a little more 'direct' from AutoDesk or ESRI (i.e.: no third-party software/data formats, if possible; read data directly from the source instead of interim processing steps with interim files to create/manage/track, if possible)

I'm running AutoCad 2012 Civil 3D and I've imported a shapefile and would like to show the ESRI labels in AutoCad. The shapefile is a maze of pipelines in an oil field and the owners and sizes of the lines are in my GIS table.

I have a Civil3D file with Drawing Settings = WGS84 UTM-Zone44 North Map3D coordinate system = WGS84 UTM-Zone44 North a USGS DEM from HYDROsheds data set (tile = N40E80) also note this DEM is a folder of multiple ADF files when using FDO provider the DEM comes in just fine but it lands in the wrong location thousands of kilometers away.
When I load the same shape files into ArcMAP10 with spatial reference as WGS84 UTM-Zone44 North everything lines up perfectly.
The header prj.adf file is this:
PROJECTION GEOGRAPHIC
UNITS DD
DATUM WGS84
PARAMETERS
so how do I make it come into Map3D correctly?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems importing points into Civil 3D 2012.I'm trying to import an ASCII file into the drawing.Files formats are P,N,E,Z,D in ASCII file and the same format is selected when I try importing.
The ASCII file has well over a 1000 points but when I import the points only the first twenty or so points import to the drawing.This seems not to be limited to this drawing.I tried to import points to a different drawing and the same thing happened.
Up to this point I have not had trouble importing points into other various drawings.Is there a button or setting that may have changed that is preventing full importation of the points?
I am battling is bringing in LiDAR files from ArcGIS. I have tried TXT and ASC, and they both seem to only maintain the elevation to the nearest foot, as you can see in the attached image.
What is strange, is that when the file is brought back into GIS, this issue is a problem. Is there a setting for reducing the amount of units when importing data? The text file as I shared has data to the thousandth.
I imported an .stp file into Inventor 2011, saved it as an .ipt, and edited several features. When I export this edited file as an .stp and sent it to a client, they said that the file contained multiple errors: it showed no solid bodies (only surfaces), and the 3D thread feature I created (using a thread cutter and Inventor "Coil" command) did not read correctly (the thread I created was an edit of a previous thread, and apparently the .stp file simultaneously showed the new thread and the old, unedited threads).
Creating an assembly (.iam) and shrinkwrapping it before exporting as an .stp does not work.
(When I open the stp file I created [in Inventor] the file, of course, reads correctly. All solid bodies are visible, as well as the single thread.)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Maya and the 3D design environment. I'm going thru the online tutorials and built the sample Greek temple. I have a MakerBot replicator 2. I did convert the Nurbs to polygons for the column bases and the temple roof. I exported the individual pieces to obj format to print. My question involves the export of the roof/torus group. The "roof" is not smooth but slightly faceted (I'm not using the correct jargon here I'm sure). It's kind of tortoise shell like in smoothness. What do I adjust during export so the rood object comes over smoother?
I'd attach the roof file but the site doesnt allow for some reason.
I just installed Illustrator CS6 and find out that I literally have to manually checkmark "Use Artboard" when exporting to png format EVERY time I export an image.
I often use my illustrator models for animation for powerpoint presentations, so 1 artwork can easily be animated into 30 png images.
Is this a really bad joke from the developers side, or am I missing something?
PS: In CS4, you can just checkmark "Use Artboard" once every session (ie. every time you open Illustrator).
I want to create a site layout that would consist of multiple buildings. I have the AutoCAD drawing of each building and the location and orentation of each building in ArcGIS. Is there a way to import the data from ArcGIS into AutoCAD for my use?
Also if this isnt the correct location for this could administrator move it for me?
I was furnished with a .shp file (and a number of associated files (5 total I think) that I can't remember-not in office now). The file is supposed to be a pipeline alignment in Pennsylvania South NAD83, the data imports the polyline with correct dimensions but the coordinates end up being about N-14,613,757 E-1,984,420 and should be about N-334,435 E-1,413,375.
As an aside, we are using Carlson Civil Suite in MAP. My intuition is telling me the problem has to do with setting up the initial geographic system in a new drawing. I am going to try the import with plain MAP.
I have artistic text on a simple schematic diagram that I am trying to export out as a .cgm file, but the lines convert from solid lines to dashes and the vertical text does not stay in place after the export.

I tried just exporting a single object from the model but when I export I receive warnings/errors saying that It was not able to apply the texture map# 20 because it is not supported outside of 3ds max..
I am not getting an option of exporting in mpeg 4 format? Infact when I am rendering in AVI file the size of the file is extremely huge. Need reducing the file size & exporting in MPEG4 format.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe use Acad map 3d 2012 & civil 3d 2012. We also use Arcgis10.2 and have not seen this problem until one of our contractors (using map 3d 2013) sent us his drawings. When we bring in the map 2013 drawing Arcgis does not recognize the projection assigned to the drawing and our data ends up thousands of kilometres off in the distance. Am I missing something...it always works fine for 2012 drawings.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi want to export DGW-data (or in general AutoCAD-data) from AutoCAD Map 3d 2011 and import them into ArcGIS 10.As I suppose, ArcGIS could recognize only DWG or shp.
The most important information for me are the styles (color, linetype ....). The feature class Line is not the main problem, but when i want to export points or polygons it is difficult. AutoCAD seperate points or polygons in fill colors und edge colors and only the edge color are able to import in ArcGIS. Another fact is that ArcGIS seperate a Point into featureclass Line (the edge) und Polygon and the spatial information failes (that works with ArcToolbox feature "CAD to Geodatabase", all not my problem )
To summarize there are any problems with the transformation of styes.
Wenn I export SDF-layer as Shapefile its a good way to transform spatial information (coordinate system) und the data of attributtables, but my problem are the colors und styles.

what is the best format to use for my finished video project. The video format is currently MP4. I have imported the video to add and edit the audio and video portions of these videos. I would now like to export the finished project so that I can both embed the videos with controller on my website as well as put them in a zip file for potential clients so that the can download the set of videos then play them back with controller included with video. I would also like the format that I use to prevent user edits or tampering. If so what format is the best to use for the requirements presented?
