i do not show 3d modeling as a workspace setting option. only architecture. i was able to right click and 'solid', etc will show up on the pull downs now. but does is matter not to have the 3d modelling workspace?

Problem: I cannot seem to access the 3D modeling workspace switch down in the bottom right of the screen, it just comes up with the active 'Architecture' with no other options. In some Tutorial videos I have seen an option to select '3D modeling' but this is not the case for me. I have also tried using the quick access toolbar to customize and add a 'Workspace 3D Modeling' button but this has not worked either. What I want to do is the change the ribbon thus tabs to the the 3DÂ Modeling mode so I can go from there. (Using 2011 version.)
I am trying to go from the 3D Modeling workspace to the 2D workspace without the XYZ coordinate gizmo on the drawing screen (just want to see the XY ucs) to work in 2D format.

View 2 Replies View RelatedCurious as to how to load the 3D Modeling workspace so that I can access the editing features and whatnot without having to type in the commands. I have seen a few different questions dealing with this issue, they pretty much said to into the "custom user interface", click on the transer tab and then path to the support folder where you would load the "acad.cuix" file and drag the 3D Modeling Workspace over to the left hand side. The issue I'm having is that when I path to the folder with all the different ".cuix" files there isn't a plain "acad.cuix" file to be found and none of the other options offer any sort of 3D Modeling Workspace?Â

How do I get Autocad Classic as a workspace option?
I just installed Autocad Architecture 2013 only to learn that Autodesk once again is hard at work making our lives difficult. For some reason they seem to want us ALL to use the ribbon. The ribbon in my opinion is HORRIBLE. I MUCH prefer the classic workspace since I do not use many toolbars and I key in the vast majority of my commands. As such, I get rid of the ribbon because it takes up too much space considering the fact that I only use a handful of buttons from the ribbon. But Autodesk has thrown a bunch of obstacles in my way.
1. Type "ribbonclose" - this closes the ribbon.
2. Type "cui" - this bring up the Customize User Interface dialogue box.
3. Right click on workspaces. Enter a new name for your new workspace.
4. (optional) Right click on toolbars to make your own. Then drag and drop commands from below into your new toolbar.You may also notice that you no longer have toolbars, soooo..
5. Type "menuload" - things brings up the Load/Unload Customizations dialogue box.
6. Click "Browse".
7. Select the first file ending in ".cuix". Click "Open". Click "Load". If you get an error message don't worry.
8. Repeat step 7 for each and every file ending in ".cuix".
Now you have tool bars and menus. However, the Express menu may STILL not work.
9. Then visit this webpage:URL.... to get the Express menu working.
10. Close autocad. and re-open autocad.
11. Set up your screen the way you like it.
12. Either click on the workspace switching icon on the lower right portion of your screen or type "workspace" and select "Save Current As".
13. Save your workspace with whatever name you like.
I have recently installed the newest AC Architecture. Unfortunately I have some problem with tools in one palette CHANGE.
When I choose one of them (f.e. sign door or sign window) I get this kind of allert that "I can not find the tool in the current workspace". I have no ide what can be a problem.
More over on my friend's computer all this tools work correctly but only from the ribbon (it isn't possible to use this tool directly from command space).
i have a problem in Architecture 2012, First i can't use AEC dimensions because the tool is not found in the workspace and i'm using the loaded architecture work space.also i cannot get into the cui, i click on it and it just stops working.

Right now we are making manual changes per mtext line to make the transition and I am sure there must be a more productive and quick way to do this. Just have not been able to find it.
I've drawn a residence in AutoCAD architecture using AEC walls and when I xref my drawing into 3ds Max to add lighthing and textures, the walls do not show up. I've done this on previous projects and there were no issues.

For example: If i want to create a polygonal primitives cylinder, according to the tutorial an option window should appear where i can change the attributes, but it does not appear for me. View 8 Replies View RelatedA curious thing I have just noticed is that I no longer have any DivX showing as an AVI option under Custom in either X5 or X6. Don't get me wrong: I know all about the DivX woes of other users here. But on this same computer, I have always been able to update to the latest version of DivX and use it with no problem. Today I updated DivX to the very latest version, and went to make sure it showed in VS, but it was not there in either X5 or X6. Nor can either program "see" DivX clips I have stored on the computer.
A few weeks ago, I was having trouble getting X6 to see the various proDad and Boris filters added in the Ultimate package. That was eventually resolved, but in the process I had to uninstall and reinstall both versions. Something else obviously happened then and I am pretty sure it removed the DivX capacity, since all I have now showing under the AVI Compression option, apart from uncompressed, is DV Types 1 and 2, and the MJPEG codec. I used to have a lot more, including, apart from DivX, Cinepak, Microsoft mpeg-4 V1 and V2, ffdshow, Intel IYUV and XVid.
FYI, I have tried renaming the 15.0 and 16.0 folders in Win 7 C:Documents and Settings[My Name]Application DataRoamingUlead SystemsCorel VideoStudio Pro I realise that is mainly to do with repopulating the filters, but thought I would give it a go.
I also re-loaded an older version of DivX which I know had previously worked in X5, though I had never checked it in X6 (8.2.2). That did not work either, including after a reboot.
Also FWIW, I uninstalled XVid, which had previously showed up in X5, and reinstalled it. But it still does not show in either X5 or X6, including after a reboot.
FWIW, I have also checked on another computer on which I have X5 (though not X6 yet) loaded, and that has all the AVI filters mentioned above as missing, plus a variety of others specific to that computer (related to a Matrox program I have loaded on it).
I have a viewport that is not showing the hatch pattern. In one layout tab, the hatch shows. In another tab, the hatch does not. The layer is not frozen or off, on the sheet or in the viewport.
Other items and hatch patterns on that same layer show up. The display is set to 2D wireframe. I even cut - paste a viewport from the working layout tab to the non-working layout tab and the pattern disappears.
I am using Autocad Architecture and am attempting to use 3-D for the first time. The program opens and runs fine, and it allows me to create objects with no issue. However, when I try to apply materials to an object, the materials do not show up. The materials/textures tab is turned on, I can see the loaded materials, and the style is set to realistic. Even when I choose the material option "select objects with this material", it selects them as if the material is applied. The material does not show up either on screen or when rendered.Â

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen selecting an AEC and going to the properties dialogue box I no longer have items showing up in the prpoerties like cleanup group, size, or endpoint type. It only has the general tab and 3d visualization. I did a repair from the uninstall software fromn control panel. I also rebooted. I don't want to do a reinstall becuase of customizations. I have vista Ultimate operating system.

When I started to use Autocad I could type in the dimensions of a box I wanted to draw and it would be highlighted in blue to let me know whether I was typing in dimensions for the height or the width of the box, but now I can't see it displayed. And when I click on line a previously drew it no longer shows what the dimension of that line anymore.Â

I want to start modeling homes. I work at a small company and my employer wants me to model and render some of his designs. I have access to all working drawings floor plans, elevations and roof plan so I was wondering what the best way is to make use of that for a 3D model?
I was thinking of trying revit but ACA seems easier to deal with. I don't need to build the interior and most projects are residential homes. I tried searching around and finding tutorials but couldnt find as much on autocad architecture.
Is it possible to move perspective or another view to a second monitor in 3D modeling?

Sometimes I am unable to move the faces of 3DSolids and get the error messages like "Modeling Operation Error: Gap cannot be filled" or "Modeling Operation Error: No solution for a vertex". Haven't found a pattern of error yet, but today I copy clipped some 3D solids from another drawing into my current drawing and found that the move face wouldn't work after that. If I draw a simple 3D solid within the current drawing, the move face won't work; but, if I copy clip that same object into a new, blank drawing, the move face works.

When you mouse over the handles on the lighting area, a small tool tip appears to say "scale width, scale length, rotate, move" The thing is I am having a nightmare to get "scale width, scale length" to show up.

I have to mouse over, twiddle about, wait, move the mouse away, shake it etc before finally it decides to show "scale length" It seems like the 'hot zone' for move & rotate is large but scale is just one invisible pixel you have to search around for.
