VideoStudio :: X5 - No Longer Have Any DivX Showing As AVI Option?
Apr 3, 2013
A curious thing I have just noticed is that I no longer have any DivX showing as an AVI option under Custom in either X5 or X6. Don't get me wrong: I know all about the DivX woes of other users here. But on this same computer, I have always been able to update to the latest version of DivX and use it with no problem. Today I updated DivX to the very latest version, and went to make sure it showed in VS, but it was not there in either X5 or X6. Nor can either program "see" DivX clips I have stored on the computer.
A few weeks ago, I was having trouble getting X6 to see the various proDad and Boris filters added in the Ultimate package. That was eventually resolved, but in the process I had to uninstall and reinstall both versions. Something else obviously happened then and I am pretty sure it removed the DivX capacity, since all I have now showing under the AVI Compression option, apart from uncompressed, is DV Types 1 and 2, and the MJPEG codec. I used to have a lot more, including, apart from DivX, Cinepak, Microsoft mpeg-4 V1 and V2, ffdshow, Intel IYUV and XVid.
FYI, I have tried renaming the 15.0 and 16.0 folders in Win 7 C:Documents and Settings[My Name]Application DataRoamingUlead SystemsCorel VideoStudio Pro I realise that is mainly to do with repopulating the filters, but thought I would give it a go.
I also re-loaded an older version of DivX which I know had previously worked in X5, though I had never checked it in X6 (8.2.2). That did not work either, including after a reboot.
Also FWIW, I uninstalled XVid, which had previously showed up in X5, and reinstalled it. But it still does not show in either X5 or X6, including after a reboot.
FWIW, I have also checked on another computer on which I have X5 (though not X6 yet) loaded, and that has all the AVI filters mentioned above as missing, plus a variety of others specific to that computer (related to a Matrox program I have loaded on it).
My NZ DMR-XW380 Panasonic DVD recorder will only read DIVX or XVID video files. My Corel Video Studio 12 has no option to save a clip as DIVX or XVID. I am able to save the clip and convert it with Oxelon, but can Video Studio 12 be set up to do this?
I have always converted my movies into Divx, I use to be able to burn them fine with windows movie maker, I don't know if it was some update or what but I lost the ability to do that.
Corel X3 is the only program I have that will even load the divx movies, and it let me convert it into a normal format.
Original Divx Movie size . 1.2gb Converted file Size . 165gb
Movie plays fine in Windows media player, searches fine.. cant believe it's 165gb and I can scroll through it. Still though, this presents some problems when trying to burn it to DVD.
Some of my music video clips cannot be loaded in VS4. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason - some of these were converted to my own "5.1 mix" (6 channel audio) using another editor, others are 2 channel audio. They're all 29.97 fps. Bitrates and resolutions vary greatly. Clip lengths are anywhere from 2 minutes minimum to about 5 minutes max. All the files do play in Media Player and Nero, and they stream (without transcoding) to tv thru LG BD player. Other files created/edited exactly the same way can be loaded into VS4. After creation all were run through DIVX Plus Converter for upload to YouTube and I (like a dummy) accidentally deleted the wrong files after upload.
I am trying to fix a problem for a friend in that she can no longer change the background in a project. This particular option has vanished from her toolbar. She has reset the tool bar but the problem persists. I believe she's using the Windows version.
My edit information ( stack counts, ratings picks etc) is showing in grid view but is no longer showin in the filmstrip even though my settings (view options) are set to show details.
The Lighting effects in CS6 are really nice but im having some difficulty with scaling the lights.
When you mouse over the handles on the lighting area, a small tool tip appears to say "scale width, scale length, rotate, move" The thing is I am having a nightmare to get "scale width, scale length" to show up.
I have to mouse over, twiddle about, wait, move the mouse away, shake it etc before finally it decides to show "scale length" It seems like the 'hot zone' for move & rotate is large but scale is just one invisible pixel you have to search around for.
im using coreldraw x5 since last year but recently when ive tried to open uniform fill tool (***+f11) the separate window isnt showing up. is as if it is invisible because i would have to press esc to continue back to my work. the only pop up window that does work is fountain fill (f11) the rest such as option (ctrl+j) doesnt pop up
i do not show 3d modeling as a workspace setting option. only architecture. i was able to right click and 'solid', etc will show up on the pull downs now. but does is matter not to have the 3d modelling workspace?
On Adobe Premiere Pro CC (up to date, running OSX 10.8.5), when I select an audio clip and a .mov clip and attempt to use the audio sync seen in several tutorials, that option is not available. I only see in points, out points, time code and clip marker for syncronize points. Are there only certain file types that can be synced this way or is there a setting I'm missing?
I am using VSX5 Ultimate. I installed a program called drop box and another called Helium. After installing these programs, VSX5 will no longer load. The intro screen does not even come up. I click on my short cut and my mouse pointer spins for a few seconds, then nothing. I have checked my programs and I do not have browser protect, browser manager or babylon. I uninstalled the two programs I mentioned above and restarted my computer but nothing happens still. Should I try uninstalling VSX5 and reinstalling?
I have a video which is much longer than any software indicates. YouTube says it is 18 minutes long, Windows says it is 49 seconds long, Windows Media Players says it is 49 seconds long, Windows Live Movie Maker says it is 50 seconds long, and Corel VideoStudio says it is 49 seconds long. The video is too long for YouTube, but I cannot edit the length with VideoStudio or Windows Live Movie Maker because it does not acknowledge the true length of the video!
Video extension: Originally .vob, but I changed it to .mpeg to edit in VS (I've done many times before, never caused an issue).
I am trying to adjust the white balance using photoshop elements 11, all the information I have come across tells you how to do it using the camera raw plug in. This has been updated and still I do not see it listed when I click on the file menu. I take photos of antique gold lockets using a light house and even though the custom white balance is set on my camera the photos are still coming out too canary yellow. I need to be able to adjust the colors so that they are more antique rose gold looking and have been reading different articles and videos on how other people adjust the colors and would like to try a couple of the ways I have seen but am unable as the camera raw plug in is not showing up as an option.
I am running Lightroom 4.1 on two Macs, both running 10.7.4. On one of the machines the Alt/Option key does not work properly in the Develop module.
When I hold down the Alt/Option key and move the Exposure or Blacks slider I expect to see the clipping display. Instead this action moves the whole of the sidebar of the user interface. I can move it to any place on the screen and off the edge of the screen. Clearly this should not be possible.
The problem machine has a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet attached, so I have tried updating the Wacom drivers, and also removing the Wacom software completely. Neither solves the problem. My other Mac does not exhibit this problem.
On a pro account, Vimeo has no time limits. Yet using the tool to upload to Vimeo in VS X4 forces a trim to 25 minutes. Is there a work around? Is there any way to replicate the settings on the Vimeo upload without the time limit? I can't seem to find a way to replicate the Vimeo upload settings using the custom portion, or the mp4 HD portion of the share tab.
I never had a problem exporting my projects as Quicktime MOV files until a few months ago. Now it seems when I create a QT file they come out blurry/ fuzzy/unusable. I have uninstalled/reinstalled VSPX3 and QT (and have tried to do it on several computers) but nothing has worked.
I recently upgraded from VS Pro X4 to VS Pro X5 and was shocked to see that there is no option to output a project to FLV under '3 Share > Create Video File'. Is this a feature removal or am I cursed with a defective copy of VS Pro X5?
As you can see in the screen above, the option (which was located at the bottom of the menu in VS Pro X4) is absent in VS Pro X5.
I shoot AVCHD video from my Canon Vixia HF S 21 at the highest setting of 24 Mbps / 60i. I have a Lite-On BD Burner and make BD-R discs. Originally when creating the movie that will be burned to disc, I was using the Blue Ray option (MPEG2 25000kbps). I was not happy as I saw much degradation of the image. I know from users on this forum that H.264 is the prefered format, but VS X3 limits you to 20000kbps, which will result in an even more degraded image. (Will this limit be removed in VS x5??)
What I found by accident was in the above project, use the option "Same as first clip". This resulted in an H.264 video, VBR 22700 kbps and the video is very sharp on my 55" LCD TV compared to the MPEG2 compression. So I am quite happy with this setting.
My problem is on my project right now, the Same as first clip option is grayed out. Why is this happening? Could it be that this time I captured as real 24F rather than in 60i format? My only option is MPEG2 for BLuRay, or use MPEG optimizer which still shows Mpeg2 but now VBR is 22700 rather than 25000 kbps. There is no way to get it to render as H.264. BTW I also noticed this the other day when rendering a project from video from my wife's Flip camera.
I have created a project using 1080p 29.97fps AVC MOV clips.
However, there seems to be no way to create a video file from the project using these settings. The options include neither 1920x1080 or anything but 25fps, and of course trying this results in choppy footage.
NB I did not choose either PAL or NTSC options when installing, as we will no longer use either of these in this country as of next year and I have no need to use them anyway.
Also I cannot install Ultimate as it says it is not compatible with this computer (Microsoft Surface Pro), only Pro.
I recently used two Camcorders at a wedding and one (Panasonic NV-GS500) when connected via firewire to VS XP Pro3 showed up straight away with DV (AVI) download option - which is obviously the quality I want/need. The other Camcorder was a Canon HDV HV30 and it only offered MPEG download quality option. Both camcorders used Panasonic DV tapes and both are HD Digital camcorders so why would one offer DV and the other MPEG?
How do I capture from the Canon in AVI? I turned every thing off (VS and canon camcorder) and this time DV option presented itself.
I own the video cebtric site [URL] which is judo related and i have over 5000 videos in stanrdard and h.d. quality. I want to resolve the issue below so i can buy the product and use it without problems. I download the trial version of video studio x5..tried to export my recorded video in the size 640x360 but this wasn't possible....no option at all. I am wondering how i can do that.. When i insert a .mp4 video the option ''same as project'' is on and when i make convrsion the result is ok like the original. When i record a video and try to export ''same as project'' the option is off and i can't do my wishing size 640x360.
AVCHD and blu ray are the same. I have an HD camcorder which supports AVCHD. Is this the same as blu ray or just Hd. If I chose the AVCHD option to burn a disc will this be blu ray and can I use a standard DVD to burn it and will I need a blu ray player to watch it.
I've recently changed from PC to Laptop and reinstalled Videostudio x4.
On my last PC (which was considerably older and less capable) while using the stop-motion editor, I could capture in upto 1280 x 720 resolution using my Microsoft Lifecam 5000 HD - however now with the same camera after the reinstall the highest resolution on the drop-down menu is 640 x 480 which obviously isnt widescreen or anywhere near in terms of resolution.
One thing which could be related is that on this laptop I have two lots of "program files" - "Progam Files" and "Program Files (x86)". The program itself is installed on the x86 section but when VS is searching for sample videos or overlays etc they've all needed relinking as its attempting to find them in the normal "Program Files" folder - could the resolution problem be a similar relinking issue?
With one of my project files, when I try to create disc in VS Pro X4 only option DD-J is highlighted. When I try to select DVD or any of the other options, the project loads to 59% then the whole program freezes and the following dialogue box appears.
The program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning. Please contact Corel Technical Support and send the dump file for analysis.
When I click on OK I get the message that the program needs to close and it just shuts down. I am using Windows XP. I have 12 other project files that I can create to disc without any problem.
I have VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate (full paid for version) but I am unable to select the 'Enable Hardware Encoder Acceleration' option under Preferences/Performance as the option is greyed out.
I have an nVidia GTX660 Ti 3GB made by EVGA. This has a CUDA based CPU and according to Corel's advertising, VS Pro X5 is designed for this chipset, and so I cannot understand why the option to enable it is not available.
Some comments from Corel support I found that this option isn't required for CUDA cards as they are enabled and used by default. However, I have just done a test render of a 1920x1080 AVI clip to MP4 using H.264 and monitored both my CPU (dual Xeon E5420) and GPU utilisation. The CPUs hit 90% whilst the GPUs sat there doing nothing at all other than basic screen rendering rather than any encoding. Corel's comments are incorrect.
Also, I have a support case open with Corel but TBH, I don't hold out much hope as their last response was "If the hardware acceleration options are greyed out, then your graphics card software is managing the hardware acceleration. Please check with Nvidia whether there is an option to disable this. If there is, then once it is disabled, the hardware accelerations option will become active again.". Now, I don't pretend to be an expert in these matters, but I was under the impression that the hardware was enabled and managed by the drivers, and those drivers also offered out the functions of the card to other software that required it (API?), such as VS Pro when it needs access to the hardware acceleration to encode video. Graphics rendering on games works fine without me having to disable any graphics card software so why doesn't VS Pro?
For info, my hardware / OS is as follows:
Dual Xeon E5420 CPUs at 2.5Ghz (8 cores in total) 16GB RAM EVGA nVidia GTX 660 Ti 3GB (with 310.61 beta drivers but still same issue with 306.97 release drivers) 240 GB Kingston SSD Windows 7 64bit Ultimate with SP1
How to get hardware acceleration enabled using a GTX 600 series card? Or any other card that initially had the option greyed out?
I know that some people say that CPU rendering gives better quality, but I have a few hundred hours of old VHS and Video 8 tapes to transfer to digital and burn to DVD so as the quality isn't great to start with, I'm not too concerned about a few artifacts if I can significantly reduce the rendering time.
If I can't resolve this issue then I am going to claim a refund under Corel's 30 day money back guarantee as the product doesn't perform as advertised. However, I'd prefer to get it working as I quite like it.
I would like to be able to view my Library items in a list, rather than icons. I would like to be able to sort my Library items by name, or date taken. This would come in handy in many ways. For instance, if I have previously named my images properly (perhaps with a date format like IMG_2012_06_10), then I would be able to easily import series based on dates or names of files. If the library is smart enough, it might even be able to read the "date taken" property, then I could sort by that and insert into my timeline accordingly. Also, it would be nice to separate the samples that come with VS from my actual content. Perhaps these things are already possible, I don't know. I can't seem to figure it out, so maybe the GUI should offer more friendliness to laying out my libraries?
If there is already a list-view option with the sort feature in X5.
