View 1 Repliesis there a way to have the profile be on 2d drafting already as yoju open a new file or should you always open a new file and then change the profile from architecture to 2d drafting?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using autocad R14 with a 2d architecture addon for the last 15yrs.I purchased Architecture2009 and never used it because of the learning curve from R14.
Computer Crashed and forced me to update...I am adapting very slowly and need to get up to speed soon. i have a residential design business and my clients are getting a little upset with my lack of production.
I spend a bit of time yesterday changing door styles and want them available to all drawings not just the one they were created in. How do i migrate my style to the template and other drawings?
Am I able to change the workspace from 2D Drafting and Annotation to Autocad Classic? When I open the workspace dialogue box, AutoCAD Architecture is the only option. With AutoCAD 2010, the workspace dialogue box gave me three options: 2D Drafting and Annotation, 3D Modeling and AutoCAD Classic.
How do I get Autocad Classic as a workspace option?
How to add the Autocad Classic option into my workspace pulldown. I only have Architecture as an option and I can't get the traditional tool bar display.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to 3D modeling after getting quite skilled in the 2D area.
Problem: I cannot seem to access the 3D modeling workspace switch down in the bottom right of the screen, it just comes up with the active 'Architecture' with no other options. In some Tutorial videos I have seen an option to select '3D modeling' but this is not the case for me. I have also tried using the quick access toolbar to customize and add a 'Workspace 3D Modeling' button but this has not worked either. What I want to do is the change the ribbon thus tabs to the the 3D Modeling mode so I can go from there. (Using 2011 version.)
I just installed Autocad Architecture 2013 only to learn that Autodesk once again is hard at work making our lives difficult. For some reason they seem to want us ALL to use the ribbon. The ribbon in my opinion is HORRIBLE. I MUCH prefer the classic workspace since I do not use many toolbars and I key in the vast majority of my commands. As such, I get rid of the ribbon because it takes up too much space considering the fact that I only use a handful of buttons from the ribbon. But Autodesk has thrown a bunch of obstacles in my way.
1. Type "ribbonclose" - this closes the ribbon.
2. Type "cui" - this bring up the Customize User Interface dialogue box.
3. Right click on workspaces. Enter a new name for your new workspace.
4. (optional) Right click on toolbars to make your own. Then drag and drop commands from below into your new toolbar. You may also notice that you no longer have toolbars, soooo..
5. Type "menuload" - things brings up the Load/Unload Customizations dialogue box.
6. Click "Browse".
7. Select the first file ending in ".cuix". Click "Open". Click "Load". If you get an error message don't worry.
8. Repeat step 7 for each and every file ending in ".cuix".
Now you have tool bars and menus. However, the Express menu may STILL not work.
9. Then visit this webpage:URL.... to get the Express menu working.
10. Close autocad. and re-open autocad.
11. Set up your screen the way you like it.
12. Either click on the workspace switching icon on the lower right portion of your screen or type "workspace" and select "Save Current As".
13. Save your workspace with whatever name you like.
I have recently installed the newest AC Architecture. Unfortunately I have some problem with tools in one palette CHANGE.
When I choose one of them (f.e. sign door or sign window) I get this kind of allert that "I can not find the tool in the current workspace". I have no ide what can be a problem.
More over on my friend's computer all this tools work correctly but only from the ribbon (it isn't possible to use this tool directly from command space).
i have a problem in Architecture 2012, First i can't use AEC dimensions because the tool is not found in the workspace and i'm using the loaded architecture work space.also i cannot get into the cui, i click on it and it just stops working.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi do not show 3d modeling as a workspace setting option. only architecture. i was able to right click and 'solid', etc will show up on the pull downs now. but does is matter not to have the 3d modelling workspace?

I just downloaded 2013 Autocad for MAC and I can't manage to see my drawing toolbars and also don't know where to find workspace settings to change my workspace to autocad classic.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to migrate 5000+ SW drawings files. Some have broken model references. I was hoping to use task scheduler but it produces empty DWG for any SW drawing that has a broken reference.
Now there is a feature in SW called QuickView that opens in the last saved state but doing so only allows to save to TIF.
I'm having a problem migrating a custom idw 2011 template to 2012. When I try to open the template I get the message that I need to open and then explicitly save, but I cannot open the file. I've checked the file locations in options and in the projects, and all is correct.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are trying to migrate our 2010 and earlier inventor files that exists in our vault 2012 professional fully replicated environment to The latest inventor release.
We are trying to utilize the task scheduler. but when attempting to use the "Migrate Files from Vault" and select the option to add folders. we receive several pop ups, one after another. The header states "folder" and in the message box is simply "1000" then an "ok" button.
After clicking ok a half dozen times the dialog finally comes up to select the folder, but the entire vault is not available in the selection window. I have tried this on several machines and 2 different databases. Same result.
I am trying to move to a new computer and when I try to export the settings from my old computer using the 'Export AutoCAD 2012 Settings' command I get the following:
An error occured during the xport process. Please try again.
ERROR: There was am error generating the XML file.
Environment:

MS Office 2007
AutoCAD 2012 (part of AutoCAD Revit Architecture Suite 2012)
Otherwise, I have no problems with AutoCAD. I cannot work without my own AutoCAD setup?
I'm working with some clients and I, myself, am rather new to AutoCAD. We are using AutoCAD LT 2010. I found, in this forum, how to export custom settings. We exported settings and then imported them on a new computer. All seemed well with one minor exception:
He mentioned that every thing exported as far as window settings go, but within each applet (I'm not sure what it's called when you replace the ribbon with drawing applets), some of the icons weren't in the location where he had it. He reported that his copy icon was in the location that his "Cut" icon was.
When I try and migrate an old Inventor 2011 material library to Inventor 2013 using the migrate tool from the material browser I keep getting this error:
Migrate Legacy Color/Material Library: problems encountered while executing this command.
One or more color/material names were changed during the migration process.
I need to migrate approx 80 idw files along with the models referenced by these idw files from Inventor 2013 to Inventor 2014. I need to do this mainly because I need to update the title blocks in the idw files and the idw files need to be at 2014 level for the 2014 version of the Drawing Resource Transfer Wizard to function. Is there a method to batch migrate the idw files to Inventor 2014 level or do I have open and save them one at a time?

Bought new computer and installed Autocad 2012. I never installed Autocad 2012 on old computer.
Am I forced to load 2011 on new computer, migrate settings from old computer and then migrate settings to Autocad 2012.
I have many old documents.Created with shared project. I want to migrate to Inventor 2012 vault or single project. But after the migration files are not available. I do not want to be associated with users.

When I navigate to the 2013 Design Data as indicated by the Material Style Migration dialog, the upper section is greyed out as shown. No Colors.xml or Materials.xml files exist. This displays whether I choose to create a new library or select an existing one (I get the feeling that this tool applies only to pre-2013 migration).
I am unable to proceed to the next step of migrating custom content center libraries, since many of the content items depend upon the custom materials/appearances definitions.
We are curently using ACAD2011.
I installed ACAD2012 but never got the Migrate custom settings box upon opening ACAD2012 for the 1st time.
I reviewed Autodesk Help that ensured me that I could also find it thru:
<start...Autodesk mech 2012Migrate custom settingsmigrate from a previous release>
Epic fail... all that showed up there was export and import autoCAD 2012 settings.
Where oh where could my migration tools box have gone? Why is it not there?
(FYI, this happened to us when we upgraded from 2010 to 2011 also but we thought we had done something wrong so we eventually just manually transferred files over. That was very time consuming and we do not want to perform that exercise again.)
Every time when I upgrate Inventor to new version, my old assembly drawing will loss the content center file. So I have to replace the old version's content center file from the new version's content center file. How to automatically migrate it?

My Custom Tool Palette consists of Block Symbols, Border Sheets, Scales and Seals, Lisp Routines etc.
My Custom Toolbar is just a number of standard cad commands I've put together in my toolbar like Revision Cloud, Layer Isolate, Match Properties, Attach Image, etc.

Or is there some easy hidden Magic Button in Civil 3D that you click on and it does the rest?
