I work with a national company that creates criteria drawings for new projects. They recently changed to the 2012 version but they save it down to 2007. There has not been an issue with opening files with my 2009 version until recently. All of the computers in our office are unable to open these new files, although they claim nothing has changed. My CAD will pop up a fatal error and shut down whenever I attempt to open the new files. I downloaded the 2013 trial version and saved the file down to the older version, but that does not work either. Newer versions do not seem to be affected by the files, just my 2009 version. I tried creating a new file in 2013 and saved down to 2007 format. When I try to open it 2009 there is no issue. besides purchasing a new version of AutoCAD?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOnes every three years we have an upgrade of Inventor. In a few months we have an upgrade from Inventor Proffessionel 2009 to Inventor Prof. 2012. Since we often use special materials in our design process we also create/add the new material in the material database. So here's the question; is it possible to copy the material database (special mades) from Inv Pro 2009 to Inv Pro 2012? It would save us a lot of work!

View 6 Replies View RelatedI go back and forth between older drawings in 2009 a lot while my current drawings are in Civil 3d 2012. Is there a way to copy linework from a Civil 3D drawing into my 2009 drawing easily. I used to be able to copy and paste between drawings but that doesn't work between these versions. Right now I have to wblock out the linework and open that new drawing and save as 2004 then import it into the old drawing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe've just started using ACA 2012 and have noticed when importing files created in ACA 2009 that structural members do not display properly. We use the structural column or beam to represent a rainwater or soil pipe and are expecting to see a cut through at the cut plane and nothing else however we are getting a couple of lines that represent the crank in the pipe and I cannot turn them off. I'm sure that a setting has been introduced somewhere however after two weeks of looking I am still in the dark.
I've attached a file created in ACA 2009 that displays the problem in ACA 2012
I am the only one using C3D 2012 in our office and the other users are complaining that they cannot insert blocks or paste clipboard content into drawings that I have saved from C3D 2012. This is true whether I use "C3D as AutoCAD" or the full C3D functionality. I understand that the newer C3D objects are not compatible with the older version but to my knowledge there are no C3D objects included in the drawings in question.
C3D 2009 users can wblock the drawing contents from the Model tab and each Layout tab, and reassemble those parts. Then they are able to insert blocks and paste content again. It is a very inconvenient solution and we only use it when the situation is critical. It also breaks sheet view linkage to our Sheet Sets when we do the wblock fix.
I've asked the others to try using Design Center or Windows paste (CTRL+V) and see if that works the next time they encounter the problem. I don't have C3D 2009 installed or I would have tested these ideas already. The others will not install C3D 2012 and so far the owner's will not force them to.
I'm having some trouble in AutoCAD LT 2009 with block files.
I need the blocks I create to be available to every drawing I create, but somehow, I'm doing something wrong because I can only access them from the drawing I created them in.
I need to migrate 5000+ SW drawings files. Some have broken model references. I was hoping to use task scheduler but it produces empty DWG for any SW drawing that has a broken reference.
Now there is a feature in SW called QuickView that opens in the last saved state but doing so only allows to save to TIF.
I'm having a problem migrating a custom idw 2011 template to 2012. When I try to open the template I get the message that I need to open and then explicitly save, but I cannot open the file. I've checked the file locations in options and in the projects, and all is correct.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEverytime I want to open idw file only in one folder, it comes with dwg and idwfiles. I have to identify the idw files from many dwg files, sometime I just opened dwg file due to the same name with the idw file. (For project purpose, I need to save idw and dwg file in the same folder).
I hope I can open idw files only as I choose to open iam and ipt only, and remove *.dwg from File of types (*.dwg; *.idw).
I am wanting to create a .ipt (part) file in Inventor 2012, save it as a .stl file, and open it up in Project Falcon to test it in the wind tunnel. How do you save an .ipt file as a .stl file in Inventor 2012? I hav tried going to "Save as..." and changing the extention to .stl, but not luck there.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe are trying to migrate our 2010 and earlier inventor files that exists in our vault 2012 professional fully replicated environment to The latest inventor release.
We are trying to utilize the task scheduler. but when attempting to use the "Migrate Files from Vault" and select the option to add folders. we receive several pop ups, one after another. The header states "folder" and in the message box is simply "1000" then an "ok" button.
After clicking ok a half dozen times the dialog finally comes up to select the folder, but the entire vault is not available in the selection window. I have tried this on several machines and 2 different databases. Same result.
When I try and migrate an old Inventor 2011 material library to Inventor 2013 using the migrate tool from the material browser I keep getting this error:

I need to migrate approx 80 idw files along with the models referenced by these idw files from Inventor 2013 to Inventor 2014. I need to do this mainly because I need to update the title blocks in the idw files and the idw files need to be at 2014 level for the 2014 version of the Drawing Resource Transfer Wizard to function. Is there a method to batch migrate the idw files to Inventor 2014 level or do I have open and save them one at a time?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a question regarding display problems when I import my Inventor assembly into Showcase and try to apply ray tracing. The assembly file is now missing some part and does not display at all. The assembly file is model that has been designed with frame generator however some of these framed generated parts just don't display. The strange this is they do display in other less desired formats such as shaded etc but not when ray tracing.
Autodesk Inventor Professional 2013 SP2 64-Bit Edition
Windows 7 HP Z400, Intel Xeon W3550 3.07GHz
12.0GB RAM, ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL)
I have recently installed Inventor Professional 2012 Student Version, and I'm unable to create a new file, as the program crashes as I try to do so.
After starting Inventor, I select New than Standard.ipt. The file starts loading, the status of the loading process can be seen in the bottom left corner, than the "Open Documets in Session" counter in the bottom right corner changes from 0 to 1, as it should, I guess. And than, the program freezes. Sometimes, a message appears after several minutes that an error has occured, and that I should send an error report to Autodesk (which I did); but sometimes, no message appears at all, it simply crashes.
My computer specs are: Intel Core 2 @1,86 GHz, 2 GB RAM, NVidia GeForce 9800 GTX, 60 GB free space, Windows Vista (hotfix installed) Not a powerhouse, but I think it should be able to start a file properly I think, if I understand the system requirements correctly.
