View 1 Replies View RelatedI work with a national company that creates criteria drawings for new projects. They recently changed to the 2012 version but they save it down to 2007. There has not been an issue with opening files with my 2009 version until recently. All of the computers in our office are unable to open these new files, although they claim nothing has changed. My CAD will pop up a fatal error and shut down whenever I attempt to open the new files. I downloaded the 2013 trial version and saved the file down to the older version, but that does not work either. Newer versions do not seem to be affected by the files, just my 2009 version. I tried creating a new file in 2013 and saved down to 2007 format. When I try to open it 2009 there is no issue. besides purchasing a new version of AutoCAD?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are on ACA 2011 and created a ceiling plan. Sent it to a consultant that is on ACA 2013.The file was saved down, but when we try to make a new ceiling or copy an existing grid, we get the following:
Command: _AecCeilingGridAdd.
Command not allowed because drawing contains objects from a newer version of this application.
I´m trying to write a script to convert all the blocks in a drawing to mass elements and export them to IGES thereafter.
I would like to select everything first. Then launch refedit and select all the blocks.
After that I would like to convert them to mass elements. When saving to IGES I would need to select everything again.
I pieced the following script together, but it fails. I think it is bexause of the request to select objects manually. Could I add a delay which would enable me to select an object?
Also it looks like ACADA is not accepting the "all" command when pselect is called by a script.

I am the only one using C3D 2012 in our office and the other users are complaining that they cannot insert blocks or paste clipboard content into drawings that I have saved from C3D 2012. This is true whether I use "C3D as AutoCAD" or the full C3D functionality. I understand that the newer C3D objects are not compatible with the older version but to my knowledge there are no C3D objects included in the drawings in question.
C3D 2009 users can wblock the drawing contents from the Model tab and each Layout tab, and reassemble those parts. Then they are able to insert blocks and paste content again. It is a very inconvenient solution and we only use it when the situation is critical. It also breaks sheet view linkage to our Sheet Sets when we do the wblock fix.
I've asked the others to try using Design Center or Windows paste (CTRL+V) and see if that works the next time they encounter the problem. I don't have C3D 2009 installed or I would have tested these ideas already. The others will not install C3D 2012 and so far the owner's will not force them to.
my OS is Vista 64bit. i was using ACA2008 SP1 without any problems about a year.i decided to uninstall it and start using ACA2009.i have uninstalled ACA2008, 3dsmax2008 and other autodesk apps and removed some folders 'autodesk' and 'autodesk shared' from vista system folders.i also delete 'autodesk' from registry (LocalMachine/Software & CurrentUser/Software).then i installed ACA2009 64bit without any problems. after install i start it and there wasn't any problems (but i do not use any AEC objects, so i don't know if they was working).next i installed 3dsmax2009 & sp1 for it. max worked OK.then i installed sp1 for ACA2009. instalation was OK... but when i start working on a project i realised that AEC objects (wall, door, etc.) dont work at all ACA2009 starts OK without any warning or something...it loads at startup AECarchBase (and other AEC related stuff) but when you are trying to use any of wall, door, window it does do nothing... for example when you select wall from tools pallete it shows command 'WallAdd' in command line and then wall command ends without any warning or something...it also doesn't work from command line or menu the strange thing is when i uninstall ACA2009 and install ACA2008 again problem was also now in ACA2008 !!!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am creating clothing and my fashion designers created the pattern in adobe illustrator. Now the contract manufacturer wants a DXF-AAMA format, which is the file format developed by the American Apparel Manufacturers Association in an attempt to solve the difficulties of using DXF files when creating clothing/apparel. How can I do this? I have already created a prototype and printed the fabric/pattern using the AI file (this was done in NY), but the contract manufacturer I am using seems to want this DXF file in the AAMA format.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Architecture 2009 on both my PC and laptop. The laptop version is functioning properly but the PC version started having problems a few weeks ago. On my PC when I open up the Design Center / Autocad Architecture / AEC Content there should be icons for both the AEC Imperial and AEC Metric folders - there are no folders
I design / draw in Imperial and currently have no access to the AEC Design and
AEC Documentation files. Is it possible to restore or reactivate the AEC files without a complete uninstall/reinstall of the software?
I just want to know how will I open a drawing file if its saved on an older version and I am using a latest version of autocad.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe've just started using ACA 2012 and have noticed when importing files created in ACA 2009 that structural members do not display properly. We use the structural column or beam to represent a rainwater or soil pipe and are expecting to see a cut through at the cut plane and nothing else however we are getting a couple of lines that represent the crank in the pipe and I cannot turn them off. I'm sure that a setting has been introduced somewhere however after two weeks of looking I am still in the dark.
I've attached a file created in ACA 2009 that displays the problem in ACA 2012
I have a file that was created in the online trial version of Corel Draw. How can I open it in my full version of X5? I'm getting an "invalid format" error message.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm currently going over the Metric tutorial for ACA 2009. At some point, I'm instructed to right-click the tool palette title bar to select the "project-specific" palette (which should be located among the Design, Visalization, etc palettes). Well, this palette is not there.
I´ve checked the project properties and verified that Project Tool Palette Group is set to Shared workspace catalog. The paths are correct (I'm using Windows 7 x64), etc. When I open antoher tutorial project (Steel Framed Residence_m) the project tool palette is there, but when I create any new project or use the one in the tut, this group/palette is not created.
The profile used to create the project is the default:
C:ProgramDataAutodeskACD-A 2009enuTemplateTemplate Project (Metric)Template Project (Metric).apj
I noticed that icons existing in ACA 2009's Object Snap Settings Dialog Box disappeared!

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have a client that wants to recieve AutoCAD documents for the construction documents that our office has prepared. In the past, on other projects with this client, they have altered our AutoCAD drawing files and reissued them out to bid. This is becoming a legal matter, but I am asking, is there a way that the AutoCAD drawing file can be saved that will 'lock' the file so that it can not be altered?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I use the CAD 'Plot Stamp' while converting a drawing to a PDF file (DWG to PDF), everything works as it should.
If I try to print it out on paper, it doesn’t work at all, even though it looks ok in the preview (however, if while in the preview, I try to zoom in on the Plot Stamp to see what's actually written, it disappears). Instead of being 'BR vertical' it's 'BR horizontal', It prints mostly out of the printable area and the text is a smaller size than specified.
What's the best way to get a high quality PDF from a DWG?We find the quality from the 'DWG to PDF' printer to be a bit disappointing. If we 'Publish to PDF' from a 'Sheet Set', it's a bit better...
Our staff can not get this file open. It says "Drawing file is not valid". It was emailed to them. He tried sending over as a 2000 drawing then tried it as 2007. We have AutoCad 2010 and 13 available to us, but no luck.
"Attached is a 2007 version of the same dwg. We have an Autodesk dwg viewer that we use here when we are sent a dwg and so far I have been able to open every file I have sent you with our viewer, so I am not sure why it is not working on your end. What I did though was opened the drawing in our autodesk viewer and then saved it from that."
I have a whole folder of drawings that if I try to access I get "Drawing file is not valid".
I have read a bunch of posts and have tried the following:
1. I have tried to insert the drawing into a new blank drawing but nothing happens
2. I have searched all of our drives for BAK and SV$ files and have found none
3. This past summer our team did a clean-up of the drives and deleted all of the BAK files
4. I have tried to copy, send, or print the file and get the same error message
This file contains the base plans for a building we have that is XREFed into our furniture, electrical, security, etc. plans.
How do I create Multiple Levels in a single Drawing File
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince I'm so darn clever I decided I could "save as" a 2009C3d-32bit drawing to 2011C3D-64bit. This drawing was working just peachy for a while. There are no data links. The drawing contained 2009 surface and point groups. I imported some Pipe styles created in 2011. Created 800' of profile, and my pipe network. When I was closing the drawing I got a lot of errors wanting to know if I wanted to save changes to VBA-pipes. Seemed like a good idea at the time so I said Yes. This morning I opened the drawing and it's there but the surface from 2009 no longer has it's Definition data. The point group is gone, breaklines are gone. I needed to remove one lousy bad point out of my surface. The points in the drawing now have three copies and one has the elevation in the point description and you can't fix it. The 3 labels are all tied together and if you erase one they all disappear. I am going to wing it from here and get this puppy out of the office with a little old fashioned autocad. This is my question. Should I have just started a new drawing in 2011, clipped all my old line work and text from the 2009, imported the points and rebuilt my surface? Did I do something wrong and there was some way I should have been able to make this work? I was running 2009 and 2011 on my computer but had to remove 2009 last week. It no longer like livng with his better looking brother "2011" and I had to put him out. I have numerous small projects created in 2009 so this will happen again.

I have this file that won't open in AutoCAD Architecture 2012, well let me rephrase that, it won't finish opening. It has 4 or 5 xref's attached. I was able to open this same file using 2010. Through process of elimination I was able to determine that a file that was exported from Revit MEP 2012 was the problem. When that file was detached the drawing would open just fine. To make things more interesting, I am able to open the Revit Export file just fine using 2012. What diabolical combination of event has happened to cause this SNAFU.

I have a few problems with my autoCAD 2010 version on my new computer. When I make a few hatches, there is a possibility that my entire computer freezes and the only way out is a hard shut down of my computer.
The same problem also appeared when I tried to open a drawing direct in autoCAD or when I search the file to make an exref into the drawing.
Isn't there a way of taking an existing hatch patter off a drawing file and load it into your hatch library?
