View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Object Snap settings will not stay "set". Each day i have to reset the options i wish for each dwg i open up that day. also the settings do not stay set even when working on same dwg for several hours. Every couple hours i have to reset them to my options.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe use ordinate dimensions for all holes in parts. Unfortunately there seems to be features frequently left out of ordinate dimension mode. For instance, by default Inventor uses center and quadrant object snaps. Unlike in normal dimension mode, there is no right click option for disabling quadrant snaps. This is a constant annoyance, especially when dimensioning a print with a lot of holes. Is there any other way or hidden setting to disable the quadrant snap? In addition, add member is missing from the new "marking menu" completely so we have to enable the old right click menu to get it back. Are we the only ones using ordinate dimensions?

I am trying to get TOOLS and the object snap toolbar up but my menu bar only has FILE WINDOW.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen using the 'space generate' option when inserting a space, the tool automatically turns off 'object snap' and then of course it doesn't turn it back on at the end of the operation. I tend to need to switch back and forth from auto generate to polygonal insertion and having to reset object snap every time.

My accelerator keys for the right-click object-snap cursor menu do not work. For example, I will be drawing a line and I will bring up the object-snap menu, then I will select ‘E’ for endpoint snap, the ‘e’ will display in the dynamic input window and the snap does not work.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy OS is Vista 64bit. i was using ACA2008 SP1 without any problems about a year.i decided to uninstall it and start using ACA2009.i have uninstalled ACA2008, 3dsmax2008 and other autodesk apps and removed some folders 'autodesk' and 'autodesk shared' from vista system folders.i also delete 'autodesk' from registry (LocalMachine/Software & CurrentUser/Software).then i installed ACA2009 64bit without any problems. after install i start it and there wasn't any problems (but i do not use any AEC objects, so i don't know if they was working).next i installed 3dsmax2009 & sp1 for it. max worked OK.then i installed sp1 for ACA2009. instalation was OK... but when i start working on a project i realised that AEC objects (wall, door, etc.) dont work at all ACA2009 starts OK without any warning or something...it loads at startup AECarchBase (and other AEC related stuff) but when you are trying to use any of wall, door, window it does do nothing... for example when you select wall from tools pallete it shows command 'WallAdd' in command line and then wall command ends without any warning or something...it also doesn't work from command line or menu the strange thing is when i uninstall ACA2009 and install ACA2008 again problem was also now in ACA2008 !!!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI work with a national company that creates criteria drawings for new projects. They recently changed to the 2012 version but they save it down to 2007. There has not been an issue with opening files with my 2009 version until recently. All of the computers in our office are unable to open these new files, although they claim nothing has changed. My CAD will pop up a fatal error and shut down whenever I attempt to open the new files. I downloaded the 2013 trial version and saved the file down to the older version, but that does not work either. Newer versions do not seem to be affected by the files, just my 2009 version. I tried creating a new file in 2013 and saved down to 2007 format. When I try to open it 2009 there is no issue. besides purchasing a new version of AutoCAD?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe've just started using ACA 2012 and have noticed when importing files created in ACA 2009 that structural members do not display properly. We use the structural column or beam to represent a rainwater or soil pipe and are expecting to see a cut through at the cut plane and nothing else however we are getting a couple of lines that represent the crank in the pipe and I cannot turn them off. I'm sure that a setting has been introduced somewhere however after two weeks of looking I am still in the dark.
I've attached a file created in ACA 2009 that displays the problem in ACA 2012
I have a rather simple 3rd party custom object... I tried to get its bounding box but the coordinates that come back don't seem to relate at all to the object.
What I'd like are the coordinates of two nodes the object contains...
Is it possible to apply the autocad cursor in some why with the node object snap to get their coordinates?
I'm currently going over the Metric tutorial for ACA 2009. At some point, I'm instructed to right-click the tool palette title bar to select the "project-specific" palette (which should be located among the Design, Visalization, etc palettes). Well, this palette is not there.
I´ve checked the project properties and verified that Project Tool Palette Group is set to Shared workspace catalog. The paths are correct (I'm using Windows 7 x64), etc. When I open antoher tutorial project (Steel Framed Residence_m) the project tool palette is there, but when I create any new project or use the one in the tut, this group/palette is not created.
The profile used to create the project is the default:
C:ProgramDataAutodeskACD-A 2009enuTemplateTemplate Project (Metric)Template Project (Metric).apj
I'm trying to snap one object to the other with vert snap.
It's trying to snap from the center of my object rather then the vert I am hovering over. In the Snap settings I have only "vertex" checked so it should snap to whatever vertex I hover over but no...This keeps up I'm going back to 2008 when all this worked fine.
I'm working with some clients and I, myself, am rather new to AutoCAD. We are using AutoCAD LT 2010. I found, in this forum, how to export custom settings. We exported settings and then imported them on a new computer. All seemed well with one minor exception:
He mentioned that every thing exported as far as window settings go, but within each applet (I'm not sure what it's called when you replace the ribbon with drawing applets), some of the icons weren't in the location where he had it. He reported that his copy icon was in the location that his "Cut" icon was.
I have a drawing of Clock Face here (see the picture below), which requires donut for the outer circle. My first question is, looking at the picture, what would be the limits, grid, and snap settings? I made an attempt with the limits (0',0') (12',9'), with Grid =0'-0 1/2", and Snap = 0'-0 1/4", but it didn't work out well. I tried to make the Snap 0'-0 1/32" but it couldn't, neither 0'-0 1/16", nor 0'-0 1/8". Why can't I set the Snap to 0'-0 1/32"?
Next, I would like to know how the outer circle could be constructed with donut. The small inner circle below it is of 1'-11" + 1" + 1" in diameter, that is, 2'-1". If then the Donut (as shown) is to be of 24" inside x 1" thick, the 2'-1" DIA circle would disappear within the thickness of the Donut, leaving no gap between them both. How could this be drawn,
How to keep the snap mode settings from disappearing after certain commands. For example every time I use a lisp routine I have to go and reset my settings because they are no longer the way I had them set before I performed the lisp command.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI built a new computer, Windows 8, 64 bit.
Installed Acad LT 2011 64 bit.
Did an export of custom settings from a Windows 7 64 bit LT 2011 installation, imported those to the new Windows 8 LT 2011 installation. This was done using the Start>Programs menu. (I ditched the "Metro" stuff.)
The setup looks mostly the same, but when I go to use it, the icons don't match the commands. I have toolbars down the left and right sides with many icons. The icon for Hatch runs the Polygon command. The Move icon runs the Offset command. Lots of them are screwed up.
The ribbon commands along the top seem to be OK.
I have been working with ADT 2012 for a month now, and I am missing the way that my crosshairs used to snap to a grid, even if a command is NOT active. If I am zoomed in close, I used to be able to have my pickbox/crosshairs snap to the 1" grid that I have set up. However, that I only works if I have a command like "LINE". What setting do I need to change to make this work the way it has for YEARS?

I have ACA2011. I received a Topo from someone an it's grade lines are Proxy Entities. I need to snap to one and can't. Is there a way to snap to these? I just want to move the topo to the right Z height, but need to snap to at least one grade line to do so.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to ACA 2011 in plan view I am unable to snap to the edges of walls. Toggling the osnap setting check box to allow object snap to act on wall justification lines seems to have no effect as it always snaps only to the justification line and to nothing else. This is extremely annoying and makes it impossible to dimension to the face of a wall that is center justified. Is this a bug or am I missing some new setting somewhere? All my layers are unfrozen including layer 0.
