AutoCAD Architecture :: Mid Between Two Points Object Snap Is Not Appearing In The Shortcut Menu
Dec 13, 2011
One of the CAD engineer in my office is facing with a new problem. Until two days back she was able to use the "mid between two points" object snap. But recently it dissappeared from the shift+right click short cut menu. method to bring it back to the shortcut menu?
I have an inactive snap shortcut menu. When clicking shift + right mouse button the menu appears but when I typet
"E" for "ENDpoint", "M" for "Midpoint" or when I just click over the respective icons in the menu nothing really happens and I get the following message in the command bar:
"Command: _endp Unknown command "ENDP". Press F1 for help."
or
"Command: _mid Unknown command "MID". Press F1 for help."
I tried following, none of which worked:
1. resetting the main customization file ACA_Global.cuix
2. switching between different profiles and cuix files
3. reinstalling Autocad Architecture 2013
4. uninstalling and Installing Autocad Architecture 2013 service pack 1
5. installing older versions of Autocad (2008 and Architecture 2012)
6. reinstalling Windows 7 and installing Autocad Architecture 2013 again
My accelerator keys for the right-click object-snap cursor menu do not work. For example, I will be drawing a line and I will bring up the object-snap menu, then I will select ‘E’ for endpoint snap, the ‘e’ will display in the dynamic input window and the snap does not work.
Using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013, now installing Service Pack 1 (kept crashing, this time it's working though), and I'm trying to find the area of a pathway that I've drawn in 2D with standard lines. Using the area tool, I want to find the area of the path, but it arcs around a 180 degree corner. I tried getting a rough estimate of the area by clicking at several points along each of the arcs, but after clicking a point where the arc joins the straight line of the straight section of the path, it literally won't let me click the next point. I can, however, specify the next point as long as it's nowher near the arc. Same goes for the polyline tool.
Just got an error code for the Service Pack installation, too. "A problem prevented the service pack from being installed, contact your administrator. Error 1603"
In my application, users will insert predefined blocks which have simple shapes like rectangle, square or circle.
Users will connect some polyline or lines to the blocks inserted. My task is that blocks must have snap points only on their center so that the polylines must be connected to the block center point not to other points such that midpoints, end points of the edges.
I wonder if there is a way to override snap points of the blocks while other entities' snap points do not change.
I upgraded to CS6 (v16) from CS5 and am having trouble with one feature so far. In CS5 I could create objects and move them around the artboard with an indicator that would come up to show me where I wasplacing it. For example a light green indicator would show if the object is centred (with the text 'centred' also visible) or a line extending from this point to the object to indicate how far away it was. Illustrator would also do this for the relative position to other objects as well as the edges of the artboard which made aligning things very easy.
These indicators have disappeared in CS6 and I can't seem to get them back even when using different align options. How can I get this to return in my copy of Illustrator CS6?
When using the 'space generate' option when inserting a space, the tool automatically turns off 'object snap' and then of course it doesn't turn it back on at the end of the operation. I tend to need to switch back and forth from auto generate to polygonal insertion and having to reset object snap every time.
For as long as I can remember, across all versions of Autocad, I've had problems picking the right item on the popup menu for object snap (shift-right click). It frequently picks the item below the intended one, i.e. it will pick Parallel rather than Perpendicular. Trying a second time works every time. This problem has been so consistent that I don't believe it is user error. The item is highlighted, after all. There is no way I'm repeatedly missing it. Is it possible to calibrate the mouse in Autocad?
Is there a way to add a keyboard shortcut or marking menu shortcut for visibility? It would be really convenient to be able to shift-click several objects and toggle the visibility of them. I have a mouse with numerous buttons that are mapped to commonly used IV features, but I cannot find a way to map a visibility toggle.
Object Snap.jpg I want to pick the point where the circle hits the edge of the box but there seems to be no Intersection there. But they are on the same plane!
Points began showing up in my xref'd file. When I click them, they select the xref, so they are objects and not artifacts. I can XLIST the points in the xref and turn on/off those layers but in the base file, these points do not exist anywhere.
This is the only article I could find on the mystery dots: [URL]
I tried the solution to COPYBASE, delete all, and purge, but they persist. It is happening on at least two layers.
I was working on max using the hair a fur modifery to try and test out something when I noticed somethign strange. When I right clicked in the view port to bring up the options (exsample cut, convert to polygon, hide, fezze ect.) it wouldn't come up. Hears what I've tried. Reinstal max, get a copy of the default interface from a school computer and tried loading that, turning off windows 7 's background color transparancy, removing all things installed right before the problem, run a system check for errors, a viruse scan and right now I'm trying a full restore from a back up. I don't know what's going on. I suspected that my graphic's card drive might be the caulprate but I checked that as well and it says that its all clear. I took the files that had the problem to other computers and they had no issue. It doesn't matter what file I load either this is universal. I can start with a blank file and the right click view port menue won't come up.
Detailed discription:
Launch 3ds max. Go to any view port upon launch. Right click in view port and no menue comes up.

I have a rather simple 3rd party custom object... I tried to get its bounding box but the coordinates that come back don't seem to relate at all to the object.
What I'd like are the coordinates of two nodes the object contains...
Is it possible to apply the autocad cursor in some why with the node object snap to get their coordinates?
I have installed Trimble Link for Civil3D 2010 and the menu will not appear in Civil3D anywhere.I re-installed it 2 times, which sucessfully completes, but to no avail.I checked cui and it's not there to add either.
I am trying to use the DIVIDE command but can't see the points (nodes) it creates after the command is complete. I have the OSNAP setting on to snap to nodes which I can't even see. The QSELECT command let me see that they are indeed in the drawing, and that is the only way I can select them.
Is there a special snap setting to snap to a point/node? I'm not talking about a endpoint or midpoint or anything like that. I mean a "node" that is set with the "POINT" command. I can't snap to any nodes I create.
I want to move a few snap points on a line but not all of them... Usually I would shift + click each individual snap point and then move but when I have a lot of points it gets pretty time consuming.
If there was a way to drag select multiple snap points in a line.
I'm trying to snap one object to the other with vert snap.
It's trying to snap from the center of my object rather then the vert I am hovering over. In the Snap settings I have only "vertex" checked so it should snap to whatever vertex I hover over but no...This keeps up I'm going back to 2008 when all this worked fine.
This problem has just started to occur and frankly, I'm totally stuck. When I created 3d objects to represents conduits runs in a building, they worked fine. However, when I saved and reopened my file, the objects are shown in different locations, yet their snap points (endpoints, midpoints, arcs, etc) are shown in the correct location. I have attached an image showing what I mean to clarify. I am using Autocad 2014 and Civil 3D 2014.
I xref’d a plan into a compiled drawing and added notes in the compiled drawing’s model space. The xref’d plan contains an image. When adding the notes in the compiled drawing, I turn the layer off on the xref that contains the image so that I can see the text clearer. When I turn the image layer on, the notes are there, but 2 things are happening: (1) I cannot select the xref for some reason, and (2) the text disappears in the viewport when I switch to paper space.
I have been folowing number of google links on this issue namely a shortcut for activating the Mid Between Two Points or M2P/MTP without success. So far aliasedit is of no use and there is no OSmode for Mid Between Two Points, likewise none for FROM.
While adding a vertex to a survey figure, if I click too near (like within 0.5') a survey point, the new vertex snaps to the survey point and uses its point number as the new vertex. Is there a setting for this snap feature to turn it off or change the tolerance?
When zooming, I middle click the mouse to bring up osnaps, then type the letter to force the snap I want. That stopped working today: the menu pops up, I type "E", the menu goes away, but it doesn't default to endpoint, there's an "E" on my command line.
I'm not sure if this is a Service Pack 1 issue or not, but I just installed that yesterday.
I created a new mtext leader and it is set to one scale of 1/4" it shows fine in model space and paper space. Then when edit my drawings to try to add hatch or dim. there is a large text that appears in the background.
All my layers are turned on, when in an existing drawing my schedules do not appear when I use the tool to create them. When I open a new drawing draw a wall and a couple doors, the schedule inserts when I use the annotate tool. I am only using a basic floor plan at the moment, no xrefs or anything else, simple walls and doors and inserted from the program. I did use tags for the doors and windows which worked fine.
I have been working with ADT 2012 for a month now, and I am missing the way that my crosshairs used to snap to a grid, even if a command is NOT active. If I am zoomed in close, I used to be able to have my pickbox/crosshairs snap to the 1" grid that I have set up. However, that I only works if I have a command like "LINE". What setting do I need to change to make this work the way it has for YEARS?
