I recently made the switch at work from AutoCAD 2000 to 2012. Right now I’m working with a small drawing and the copy paste option is taking forever, I wasn’t sure if it was the drawing so I went to a previous large file and that takes even longer.

I tried different options in the options tab before opening but still dooging it.

I just converted a PDF file from a DWF file (from AutoCAD 2012). I also needed to print the PDF; unfortunatley, the PDF is taking forever to print.
This is what I did.
-I went under Plot-Model
-Under the Printer/plotter, I clicked DWG to PDF.pc3 and click on Properties
-Click under the Device and Document Settings tab
-Click on Custom Properties
-Click on Custom Properties buttom
-Under the DWG to PDF PRoperties table, I click on Capture all under Font Handling
-I uncheck Include Layer information under Additonal Output Setting
-I click ok
When I begin to plot under Batch Plot, I also went and click on Publish Options, and on that table under Layer information, I click on Don't include.
For some reason, it's printing very slow. I don't know what other option I have in order the print faster.

I typically work in autocad with the Layer Properties Manager open on my other screen (dual screen setup). I have been having no problem with freezing and other layer management tasks on other files. But on a particular file, the simple task of freezing a layer takes 20 seconds. Other simple tasks like saving and switching to a layout sheet also take near 30 seconds. There only seems to be a few files that ever do this to me.
I have all xrefs updated and she'd purged and audited.
Also, does having the layer properties manager or properties manager dialogue windows open at all times dramatically complicate autocad's processes?
When I try to copy and pate any element within the same drawing it won´t paste it will say: "specify insertion point" and I´ve given up.
I tried PICKFIRST but it is set to 1, also tried checking if it would fit in my screen or if the zoom was messed up, but nothing works!
I have the latest version of CC. I'm trying to use PS, but it takes forever to open. I literally go to Start> PS and wait for 10-12mins for the program to fully be open to use..I don't have this problem with any of the other CC software.

when I fire up PS the opening splash window only took about 15 - 20 seconds to cycle through and PS opens up. Since then it takes a very long time to open. The "Reading Preferences" takes nearly a minute or so then all the other race through and PS opens. Why would the "Reading Preferences" take no time at all one day then the next take over a minute? I haven't changed anything to my knowledge in the Preferences tabs to cause this.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have simple composition that animates a two shapes that I am using as a "screen" to show photos. The shapes are 3D; the camera movement is minimal. I have an Ambient light and two Spot lights.
I am on a one year old i7 processor with 16 GB of RAM. Cache files are written to an SSD.
Still it is taking a long time to render (it's a three minute project and takes about 20+ hours to render), and there's no pics added - just the "screen".
The final project is similar to the many templates you can find that show photos/videos. It's basically a fancy slideshow, but unlike those you can buy, it will hold 25 to 30 pics.
Any thoughts on what I can do to either use something other than a 3D shape (but still keep it 3D) or change parameters or workflow to cut down the render time. . . I am pre-rendering the composition now (which will take the 20+ hours) but obviously, if I want to change anything with the movement or the overall length, it means another day of rendering.
I have recently upgraded from LT2011 TO Architecture 2013. I always use perpendicular tracking when copy and pasting but when I want to copy (or paste) a certain distance perpendicular to that object it doesn't like it. It's tricky to explain but say I wanted to copy a block of a teble 1200mm from the original block I'd copy, hover over the basepoint and move my cursor in the intended direction and type in 1200 and enter. The previous version of AutoCAD worked this command fine but since the upgrade I'm having trouble. Surely it's something as simple as changing the drafting settings bit I've gone through them all and no luck.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEvery time I try to plot something with a PDF embedded it takes a very long time to spool and plot. Additionally, a PDF in the drawing slows it down so significantly it's almost not worth using..This happens whether the PDF is less than 1 MB or 50 MB...no difference. Has this been fixed in 2012? Why to PDF's do such a drain on system resources when they're such small files to begin with?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly simple 3D model in ACAD ARCH 2011. I am rendering it to a viewport on a layout that contains the company border / title block. If I render the model (presentation quality) to model space and send that to the printer (color laser) the print comes out in about 60 seconds or less. However, if I render the same image and quality to the viewport on the layout and send that to the printer, it takes between 10 and 15 minutes for the image to print. The layout is simple - just line workd border and title block. The images are identicla when finally printed.
Why does it take SOOOO much longer to print when with a layout as opposed to not with a layout? The rendering to screen takes the smae amount of time either way - it's just the printing procvess that is bogged down by using a layout.
I'm using ACA 2012 with Windows 7 Pro x64 in a stand-alone environment. Lately it seems that even running a very simple script file takes multiple minutes where it used to take 1 or 2 seconds. Also, the script no longer scrolls through the 4 or 5 commamd lines I show at the bottom of the monitor; it just lays there like an egg. This behavior is common to all of my scripts. Also, saves seem to be taking a lot longer than before. I've turned virus protection off to no avail.

To copy some objects from a drawing and then you paste them in another drawing command 'Paste to original coordinates ', but this command line is not active (available in window of right click and then use the option 'Paste to Original Coordinates').
i had purchased 2 units of AutoCAD LT 2012 Commercial New SLM with Subscription in the Box**New last year. i had installed them in my desktop & laptop ( both windows xp 32bit ). i am facing problem while i doing the copy & paste option, my computer will hang & i need to restart the programme again.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have autocad lt 2009, previously when I wanted to trace a drawing I would go to paint, copy the drawing and then paste it in autocad on one layer and do the drawing on another layer worked great, But now when I do the same process it doesn't work.....previously I could draw on the image, could edit the lines, copy, erase, move etc. But now when do this if I have to copy a line I select copy and when I click on the line I want to copy the jpg drawing goes away, or if I try to erase a line the drawing will get deleted, Do I need to uninstall autocad and reinstall?

What I mean is do I need to do this with each new session of LT? That I will need to check out. I tried my Template and it allowed Paste without going to the Options Dialog in the same session.

I am having trouble copying out of a drawing (model space) which i received from someone else, and pasting into my own. The properties on the original dwg file suggest it was created Sept 2001. It appears to copy OK (copyclip/copybase), but when i jump into my file and try to paste, the command line just reads:
_pasteclip
and nothing appears in my model space.
I've tried zooming extents, exploding the original, changing layers and line types etc into the same as in my own dwg. I've also tried to convert/save the dwg file into dxf's and other version dwg's....without success.
I have about half a dozen drawings received from the same source, and they all let you copy data into them, but won't let you copy/cut out.
I have been having a problem with AutoCad 2012 LT when a am working in the model space I can you the ctrl c and ctrl p commands for a short amount of time and then they will not work. I can open a different model space and they will work in that one, but when I go back to the original one the will not work. I have tried shutting down autocad and the computer, but when I open everything back up the commands still will not work in that model space. I have reinstalled autocad and that brings them back for a short amount of time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMe and some fellows at work have been noticing a significant increase in the time it takes to copy with base point and paste into a different drawing file. Maybe it is just the 2012 version of the software , what has changed or how to minimize the time this takes. I don't see any reason it should take up to a minute to copy a few polylines from one drawing to the next.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI cannot seem to paste into this one drawing that a client has issued to me. I can paste into all associated x-refs just fine, but the main drawing is the issue. Before we get into things I have tried all the most common things already.
- I have checked layeer Visibilties and unreconciled layers.
- I have run audit and have purged/scalelistedit all drawings
- I have done almost everything ><
To sum it up I think it is global variable of some sort.
We installed 2013 version of Autodesk Civil3D, and strange things with Copy/Paste from one drawing to another happend!
If I try to copy some autocad objects like solid HATCH for ex,. from one file to another - I select drawing copy from, select Hatch, press Ctrl+C or rightclick > Clipboard > Copy, then select destination drawing, press Ctrl+V or rightclick > Clipboard > Paste, and I see in command window:
" _pasteclip Duplicate definition of block _Closed ignored.Duplicate definition of block _DotBlank ignored."The time interval is very long for single hatch copying.
I tryed audit/purge, and copying the HATCH again, - and now I see in destination drawing some strange array of LINE obects, it is not my HATCH! AutoCAD always starts do temporary save while doing this copy.
Else, if I open new two pure drawings, and start copy any types of acad objects between each other, so all works fine and quickly, no temporary saves, only remarkable pause starts above 20000 object copying, its quite acceptable for me, and still shorter time, than copy a single HATCH.
I suppose the problem is in drawing file, because if we make purge/audit than save and reopen drawing - sometines is it possible to copy, but after all we need to do this each time we want to copy acad objects to another file. This annoying issue have our another team members too, it prevents to do our job.
I found, that with HATCH object some blocks is ALWAYS copying from one file to another.

Okay I've been building random things to teach myself how to use Inventor and right now I'm stuck on a rim I'm creating. My question is.. is there a way to copy and paste a lofted item since there are three parts to it (2 planes and 1 guide) because I need 4 more spokes and if I copy the loft it copies all three parts seperately. Then when I paste and orientate the small end of the loft to the plane I want it tells me "Unsatisfied Geometric Inputs".
