The Select Initial view checkbox in the standard file open dialogue has moved in 2013 from just above the File Name label to the file list window. Aside from the fact that it looks totally out of place design wise I find it obscures the file list. A way to revert to the previous behavior, or, even better, get rid of it all together because I never use it.
View 9 RepliesI recently purchased AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 and all of a sudden when I select "File", and "Open", the dialog box from which I am supposed to select a drawing file has a small "Initial View" box with a small check box to "Select Initial View". This box seems docked to the right side of the "Select File" dialog box but I am unable to select the check box. It seems to do nothing. Is this a glitch?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen you create your own template part file and change the "Initial View Extents" setting in Document Settings on the Modelling Tab. Does this affect the behavior of the initial view extents when re-opening a part file created from this template?
FYI - I recently created a new template part file so that the sketch gridline spacing was more relevant to the size of parts I create. I like to use gridlines while in sketch mode because it is a good visual indicator that I'm in sketch mode. On opening a new part file that referenced to my new template, I noticed that the initial view extents meant only a couple of gridlines were visible due to the zoom level. I therefore tweaked my template file by increasing the initial view extents by a factor of 4 (400mm x 200mm).
The problem now is when opening a part file created from this template, the zoom level seems to snap to the customised view extents and not to the physical extents of the part. Right clicking the View Cube and re-setting the "Fit to View" has no effect. This feature seems broken now that I use modified initial view extents.
When using the model documentation in autocad 2013 is it possible to select certain objects in a projected view and still have them show up in the base (parent) view? Another way to put it; can I isolate objects in one projected view only?
Is there a good place to go to read post from people that are using this new feature for production or some in-depth tutorials?
I have created a pipe network and am now creating an alignment and profile from that network. I follow the steps outlined in help file and when I get to "Select profile view origin" C3D freezes. I can invoke the Task Manager and choose to end C3D, then cancel when prompted to save file and control is returned. But no profile is created. Is it a video card issue maybe?
Seems like it is creating the alignment but freezes before the profile is created - In Prospector there are aligments in the misc category from multiple tries but no profiles associated with them. When it occurs I can't zoom or pan in C3D but I can switch to another app.

When I first draw something on a model space and click the Layout1 tab to see paper space.
The default view port size (the red box) looks like the following.
But I want to maximize the view port size such that (for example) the dotted line to be the defualt view port size in the paper space.
Could I do this by code??

After installing all products within Building Design Suite Ultimate 2013 and/or Infrastructure Design Suite Ultimate 2013 I try to open AutoCAD 2013 and get the attached screen. It just grinds and try to open but always shows "not responding". I've read posts that suggest uninstalling and re-installing. I've done this several times. I've used the Microsoft Fix-It engine to completely erase from the PC. I have even just installed the AutoCAD portion and it will not open. Each time I reinstall it asks me to supply all proper credentials, product code, etc. It shows green check marks so I know my codes are correct.
I've tried opening other programs and the only successful one is Revit. Am I to point the start-up of the programs to the licenses or something.
I installed AutoCAD 2013 successfully, but when I open the program for the first time, it displays the following message and aborts the program:
FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0xffffffff Exception at e9690004h.
What can I do to resolve this problem?
We are currently working on a big project which contains hundreds of drawings. We're using the sheet set & are very happy with with it. I have one question: How can you change the initial state of the sheet set manager. When I open my sheet set, some subsets are always expanded. I would like my sheet set to close all subset when I initially open the sheet set.

I have a sheet with views on it. For some reason I can't select one of the views. I can't activate it. And the view title is gone. I can go to the browser and find it under the sheet and then go to open.

I grouped these 8 points into 2 Point Groups: Point Group 1-high depth has Points #1, #3, #5, #7, and Point Group 2-low depth has #2, #4, #6, #8. I changed the 2D Wireframe to 3D Wireframe and on TOP view I saw Point Group 1 is on the top of Point Group 2 (because the 2 Point Groups have the same values of X- and Y-coordinates with different Z(elevation) value - see the first attached file. How can I change the TOP view to the TOP-FRONT view by using some Command to get this fixed TOP-Front view thar has the good separation of the 2 depths as shown in the second attached file?

i have a template, created a viewport and fit the model view in the layout space. However, when i scale the template... the viewport model doesn't follows the layout scale. Is there any ways to fit it so that when i scale the template i don't have to set the view again.

I am trying to insert blocks into my drawings and for the most part I have been successful using Design Center. However, I have difficulties turning some of those blocks from the Plan View into the Elevation View, even when they show as elevation blocks. Even the downloads that show as 3-D end up being inserted as 2-D in plan view. In floor plan mode, I have no problem; so how do I turn them into 2-D in elevation mode?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just duplicated a bunch keywords upon importing a month worth of photos from a remote project. I assume this is because LR has no idea how to handle them other than importing them in a flattened state. I suggest a checkbox that tells LR whether or not to look for an existing keyword of the same spelling in its structures before creating another one. If it then finds multiples, it would be easy enough for it to figure out the correct keyword based on context.
I have many nested keywords and have found the nesting to be pretty much useless in the real world, but it is a great organizational tool. It allows about the same grouping functionality as collections but without the messy accumulation of collection names that were only used once.
The checkbox at the bottom of the develop module that allows one to view the mask has disappeared How do I get it back. I use LR 4 on a PC.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Lightroom 4.4 on Windows 7x64. I have heard that under preferences its better to uncheck the box that says "store presets with catalog" because it is better to have the presets not tied to and/or embedded in a specific catalog.
However, I noticed that whether the box is unchecked or checked, the presets are always stored in their own subfolder separate from the catalog. Specifically, if the box is checked the path is: "C: Drive"->Lightroom, if the box is unchecked the path is: "C: Drive"->Users->"username"->AppData->Roaming->Adobe->Lightroom. So the presets are not embedded in the catalog file in either case, they are just stored in subfolders in different places (albeit in one case it seems user specific and in another it seems global). So what is the real point of the "store presets with catalog" checkbox?
After checking the box, as I paint, the red color is no longer there.
Instead, I can barely make out a very faint pink that does not appear to cover the image. It no longer paint is red.
I have closed and reopened LR and I have warm and cold booted my computer (many times). The red is gone.
While I can use the "S" key to access softproofing, the checkbox doesn't show on the toolbar and the the option simply doesn't appear in the toolbar pop-up either!
