Aug 15, 2011I've recently encountered an error using Max 2010 Design where, a file that I've been working on or have worked on in the past suddenly ceases to open while using Max 64 bit. The file will continue to be openable in Max 32bit, but opening it in 64bit causes instant crashing. I've tried installing the service pack, installing new video card drivers - neither of which fixed the problem.
I really don't know where to look for answers at this point, and do not have free reign of my work machine to request a reinstall / reimaging of my hard drive. I need a solution that I can bring to the IT department that fixes the issue as simply and quickly as possible.

Apr 17, 2013I have this heavy issue, i can't send to back a line, an object or a hatch under other lines. In 2012 i used this feature a lot but in 2013 it's not working very much, maybe 1 time out of 10 and i absolutely can't say why.
HPDRAWORDER = 1 seems to work with a new hatch.. but i can't redraw everything.
Let's say i put an entire floor plan into block then draw over it. (I don't want to start a Xref discussion please) i can't send the entire bloc to the back.I used to do that with 2012, 2008, 2007.. but it's 2013 it's not working, is there a way to correct that?
AutoCAD 2013 :: 2013 Crash When Loading ANY Profile Besides Default
Jul 20, 2012We have loaded copies of AutoCAD Architecture 2013 on several workstations. We had tried brining over older profiles (from 2008)- which did not work, so made up new ones. ANYTIME we go into the profile settings to load a different profile beyond the default, AutoCAD Architecture (US Imperial), eventually while working the program will crash. We've wiped out installations of the program, registry and all, and re-installed without brining over any prior data. Same issue.
Even when using a seperate "default" profile us as (Global) or (Metric)- same issues. The problem with staying/modifying the workspace for the US Imperial is it will not load the complete menus with the MENULOAD command (only loads EXPRESS). If we work within the (US Imperial), no crashing, but again, the menus are not available within that profile for some reason, so that is not an acceptable solution.

Sep 11, 2012I am looking to change the way AutoCAD starts, in particular, the template drawing which opens on startup.
I want to force the user to open a template rather than have one open automatically for them, as we have many different clients all with different standards.
I tried deleting all the template files as an experiment… but somehow a blank template still loaded. How can I force AutoCAD to make the user select a template upon initial load rather than have the default template load automatically?

May 31, 2012I`ve been trying to create a new drawing template in autocad 2013, I have saved it as a dwt file as suggested . When i go to open the new template the first thing i notice is that the thumb nail has a black ground , while the other templates that came with autocad have a white background !...when i open the dwt file it opens like a normal dwg file in model space not in paper space. the dwt file behaves as just a normal file .

While running the program when I use the open command dialog box if I re-name a file, create a folder, or copy a file autocad goes unresponsive and crashes immediately afterward. I have installed the service pack and update my video card driver trying to fix the problem. I used to be able to perform everything mentioned above in AutoCad 2010 without any problems. I don't think its my computer causing the problem because everyone else in my office is having the same issue with 2013.

Sep 14, 2012I've been crashing (fatal error, unhandled access violation) a LOT lately, and it happens when I'm changing between tabs - both between layout tabs and from layout to model. I have a brand new computer and a recent install of AutoCAD, which I also ran the repair routine on recently to try to fix the crashing issue. This happened with my old computer as well, and our IT people thought maybe it was too old to handle AC 2013 (old one was about 7 years old), so now I'm running an HP Compaq Elite 8300, Win 7 OS, with an Intel i5-3470 CPU at 3.2 GHz, 8 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA NVS 300 graphics card. And it still crashes.
I'm using files that were created on my old CAD station, which ran AutoCAD 2008 LT, and it started crashing on me - I suppose it's possible that one or more of those files got corrupted and that's what's causing this.It's crashed three times in the last three days, and probably a total of 10 - 15 times since my new computer came in late last month, and I'm getting pretty tired of it.

Jun 6, 2012After upgrading/switching my stand alone license from Civil 3D 2011 to Map 3D 2013, my computer is crashing before a complete opening of some larger dwgs (1575 KB). Sometimes I get an Out of Memory message.Other (much smaller) drawings open fine.The switch from Civil to Map was made because we were not using any of the civil bells and whistles that make it unique.
Map suits our needs. We use shp files (data connect) to generate most of our work.I can use another computer in our office that has Map 3D 2011 and am able to open up any of the drawings with no problems. Because I had no issues with Map 3D 2011, I thought moving up to 2013 would be "easy".
We have a subscription and every couple of years try to load up the latest and learn to live with it.Now I am wondering if we can all just go to Map 2011 and forget 2013.
