I have 2013 inventor/mechinical a cad did not have enought memory on c: drive added another hard drive E: need to move my files to the e drive. single seat all on this computer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have some AutoCAD 2013 users in our Fabrication department who are having problems saving R12 dxf files to a network location. When they try to save they get a message that states "Unable to save to drawing N:Bend|5130Xfilename.dxf. Drawing saved to N:Bend|5130Xsav6A0D.tmp" (See attachment for actual message)
The temp file does not get saved either. They can save R12 dxf files locally and to other network locations. They are able to save 2013 dwg and dxf files with no issues. This problem just affects R12 dxf files which they need for programming pressbrakes.
They can save to 2013 dxf files and then overwrite with R12. After that they cannot save again and get the message again.
User workstations vary.
All are Dell Precision workstations and laptops
Windows 7 x64 with 16 GB of RAM
All are running Nvidia Quadro graphics cards with certified drivers

To activate the new position of the assembly of approx 5k instances takes about 5 minutes in IV 2013 when using Drive constraint. The larger the assembly the longer it takes
In IV2011 takes about 10 seconds. I've never seen the "Not responding" sign in Drive constraint window in previous versions. I'm just wondering how can avoid this "New feature" of 2013.
How does moving files off my C drive affect Lightroom's ability to find them? I have flagged and labeled files - will they still be flagged and labeled? Will I have to import them again?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWe recently updated all of our software at my company from 2010 architectural desktop to 2013 autocad. We do a lot of architectural work where we use the "wall" functions to draw our floorplans. I have noticed that the walls are disappearing on some files and not on others. Or we will only be able to see the outside line of the wall, but not the interior, which results in an undesirable appearance to the floorplans.
I have also run across these error messages when opening the files, I dont know if they are related or not:
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address E43AA180h"
and
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address D41218AEh"
I recently upgraded my PC and cant figure out how to see my edited files from my old hard drive. All my photo's are saved on external hard drives and I have edited thousands but cant see any of the edited versions, only the original photo. How do I get that info onto my new hard drive? I am using Lightroom 4.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are using C3D 2013 and have recently had 3 different episodes where a dwg file was open and being worked in, CAD shut down without warning and the drawing was lost. As in, it's gone. No longer on the network anywhere. These were 3 different drawings in different projects.The drawings were not new, they had been previously created and worked in by more than one user. We were able to find a backup file and did not lose every thing but still thinking there has to be something causing this. The machine is a Dell Precision T5600, 16 GB of RAM, only had it for a few months.

I opened the HelpIds.xml file in the Inventor Bin folder and set Use Online="0" and also copied another set of files into c: programs autodesk inventor2013local help and double clicked the tutorial_files.ipj file located there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Autodesk Inventor 2013 Product Design Suite. When I open a new instance of Inventor, I get the "Welcome!" window the pops up along with the blank inventor program. From here if I attempt to create a "new" file, it seems to just freeze. I cannot even get into the window that lets you pick which template you would like to use. I have tried creating from all 4 locations (Welcome!, general toolbar, Get Started, and Inventor's file equiv).
I have no problems opening files that have already been created which leads me to believe that there must be some error in bringing up that new template window. This makes converting my 3D models into 2D autoCAD files impossible.
I have an assembly that was created on 64 bit version of Inventor 2013, the total file size of everything is around 150MB. Even if I use 'Pack and Go' to move the file to another computer running the 32 bit version I get an error when I try to open it which says something like:
'unable to allocate 3GB memory for FBAttributeSegment'
The actually figure is over 3GB but of course on a 32 bit version of windows it is physically impossible to allocate that amount of memory (even with the /3GB in boot.ini hack)
I've performed various dynamic simulations as well as animations within the assembly so I'm thinking that perhaps its trying to allocate that huge amount of memory for a saved state of one of those.
What FBAtributeSegment might be and whether there is any special way to save an assembly to avoid this problem? The name FBAttributeSegment doesn't correspond to any part or assembly names.
I should also add that I have no problem opening it in a 32 bit version of Fusion which again suggests to me that it is something like simulation or animation that is causing this
Can you save files for 2012 in 2013? I have the ability to upgrade to 2013 while others at my company are not able to, since they were not put on the subscription service. If I upgrade will they still be able to open my files or can I back save to a previous version? I know I can save it as different file type, like .iges or .step, then use feature recognition. But I need them to have full editability to sketches and features.

I models a ballet bar assy in 2'6" width with derived sketch, then I used DA to copy all the files with new name in 4'. After that, I tried to open the new files, it crashed itself, no matter I open a part or assemble.
But if I changed the derived sketch name back to its original, everything is fine for new files.
I attahced the zip file, try it. If it crashes, just change file: BALLET BAR 4ft_SKETCH
to: BALLET BAR 2ft-6in_SKETCH
everything is fine then.
I made these bunch of other parts at school this time and they use 2013 and I use 2014 at home, will I be able to open them

They told me Inventor fusion is not an easy tool and would prefered to use inventor files.
I thought I'd share a little discovery we made here yesterday. Before we upgraded to Inventor 2013, there was a lot of fuss and hesitation due to 2013 not having the AMDT import wizard functionality. This lack of functionality was also confirmed by our VAR.
I can confirm that Autodesk Inventor Professional 2013 DOES have the usual Mechanical Desktop import wizard.
I can also confirm that it still doesn't bring in extruded text :-)

When I try to open a .ipt file that is posted here in Inventor 2013, I get an error.

My catalog in Lightroom 4 is spread over several hard drives and broken into years, with subfolders holding each seperate shoot. I recently replaced the harddrive that only held 2009 with a 3TB drive that should be able to accomodate 2010,2011 and 2012. I would like to move those files onto that drive within Lightroom so that it tracks where they are.

So I have 25 years 3d CAD experience. Catia, Alias, Ford PDGS.I have spent 20 hours on Inventor 2013. Great program. Very intuitive. Have been banging out models easily.
My issue however is a Client has given me sone .stp's and Iges files to work with.They open fine as a .iam The issue is saving. I have the project folder setup, go to save.
I Get the "do you want to save changes to "XXXXXXXX.iam" and all its dependants.I select "yes to all".I get the "Yes" under the "Save" Column for all listed .ipt's...I hit OK.......Autodesk attempts to save.
...Then I get the dialogue box up with ! icons "The system cannot find the path specified" - The database in C:Users.........xxxx.ipt could not be saved
We need to be able to open MDT 2008 3D drawings in Autodesk Mechanical 2013.
I also would like to know if there is a way to convert a lot of files? (like using a batch or something similar)
We've finally nibbled the bullet and upgraded to 2014. I'm getting errors in the Task Scheduler logs about missing files in various projects. It would appear that (almost) without exception, the failed files are all Content Center parts that were inserted as custom parts. Do I need to run a migration on the Content Center parts (Inventor/ContentCenter Files/R2013/en-US) in order for the custom parts to migrate properly?

It means I have to work from different locations which is a nightmare for co-ordination.

In this, the AutoCAD program (with Mechanical loaded or not) at times has an error with a file where the View Cube will move with the zooming (gets larger and smaller) and panning (moves around screent), until I regen (goes back to original position). In addition when it moves, it no longer functions (even if I attempt to click on the screen where it should stay). This is getting quite annoying, because I can't seem to discover the cause. Some CAD files were corrupt, others were not. I just updated the video card driver (ATI Radeon HD 5970 1gb DDR 5), it has no effect.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a dual screen set up. I left work last night with no problems. I fired up my PC this morning and all of a sudden all of my dialog boxes appear on my second screen. I have disconnected the second screen and all the boxes return to normal. Plug the second screen back in and the dialog boxes go back to the second screen.
