One of our customer has inventor 2013 and I am working with inventor 2014.
I would like to know if there is anyway for my customer once my job is done to be able to load the Sub assembly with his software and be able to work with it ?
They told me Inventor fusion is not an easy tool and would prefered to use inventor files.
I am having problems opening an idw created in the 2013 version on my inventor professional 2014.
The idw contains its own template, views, dimensions, details and cuts.
Upon opening in 2014 to release details of the scale is changed randomly and the views are out of the leaf.
I am having an odd issue with the windows default for opening files for Inventor. I previously had the full Autodesk 2013 software suite. A couple of months ago I did the upgrade and installed the Autodesk 2014 software suite.
My issue is now when attempting to open files the default is to open them in Inventor 2013 (still installed on my machine).
I went through the windows default programs options and browsed/selected the Inventor 2014 .exe application. However, this does not add the 2014 application to the list as it seems 2013 over rides it.
I tried to manually changing .ipt/.iam/.stp etc. file types from Inventor 2013 to Inventor 2014, yet am still unable to have the 2014 application added to the potential list of default programs to open with.
One solution would appear to be to un-install the 2013 suite, is there any other way to fix this problem? It is nothing crucial, yet very annoying.
another way that I can get the default program altered to use Inventor 2014? I have attached pictures showing my steps of attemping to change the file association for a .stp file. However, this does not work. I even brought this issue to my company's IT perssonnel and they were unsure.
I made these bunch of other parts at school this time and they use 2013 and I use 2014 at home, will I be able to open them

It would appear that (almost) without exception, the failed files are all Content Center parts that were inserted as custom parts. Do I need to run a migration on the Content Center parts (Inventor/ContentCenter Files/R2013/en-US) in order for the custom parts to migrate properly?

With the 2014 version of inventor the program immediately crashes when attempting to open an autocad dwg. Inventor dwg files open fine. We never experienced this issue in our previous release. We only use the dwg format and because the preview is not always available it often happens that we open an autocad dwg in inventor and vice versa. Crash is reproduced on multiple maches.

We recently updated all of our software at my company from 2010 architectural desktop to 2013 autocad. We do a lot of architectural work where we use the "wall" functions to draw our floorplans. I have noticed that the walls are disappearing on some files and not on others. Or we will only be able to see the outside line of the wall, but not the interior, which results in an undesirable appearance to the floorplans.
I have also run across these error messages when opening the files, I dont know if they are related or not:
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address E43AA180h"
and
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address D41218AEh"
I had a file which, opened with Civil 3D 2013, worked fine, but one of the SID images disappeared and was shown as "corrupt" in the same drawing opened in Civil 3D 2014.
The problem was that the file name contained a character in a font not recognized by R2014. (The file name was G1105001_095-ps 12_5æ.sid) Once I renamed the file and re-attached it in 2014 it worked fine. 2013 processes this font type with no problem.
My team is using AutoCAD 2014 and multiple people have noticed that while they're working, when they try to save the file it pops up a message saying the file is read only.

I have drawings that are saved as ACad 2010 and need to work on them in ACad 2014. I am receiving error messages saying the drawing is damaged and requires recovery. Errors are being detected and some files I can eventually open but edits are missing. Others I am unable to open and I get a message "audit could not correct errors in database".

When opening a file, or attaching an external reference, the file dialog box does not always default to the last folder where a file was opened for attached from. It was defaulting to the folder at the top of the list on the left side of the dialog box until I deleted the cloud icon. But, there is still a problem with defaulting to the last path accessed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an assembly that was created on 64 bit version of Inventor 2013, the total file size of everything is around 150MB. Even if I use 'Pack and Go' to move the file to another computer running the 32 bit version I get an error when I try to open it which says something like:
'unable to allocate 3GB memory for FBAttributeSegment'
The actually figure is over 3GB but of course on a 32 bit version of windows it is physically impossible to allocate that amount of memory (even with the /3GB in boot.ini hack)
I've performed various dynamic simulations as well as animations within the assembly so I'm thinking that perhaps its trying to allocate that huge amount of memory for a saved state of one of those.
What FBAtributeSegment might be and whether there is any special way to save an assembly to avoid this problem? The name FBAttributeSegment doesn't correspond to any part or assembly names.
I should also add that I have no problem opening it in a 32 bit version of Fusion which again suggests to me that it is something like simulation or animation that is causing this
When opening non native dwg files (exports say from solidworks) it doesn't bring the file into the correct areas in relation to the model being in the model space, drawings being in the paper space and not just pasting into Autocad from the non native file.

I have all of particular files that are referenced, however i cannot open the main file and have them load in 2013. I also cannot click reload or even detach and then reattach them. Nothing happens. However if i open the file in 2012 it opens just fine then i can bind everything into one. is there a setting i need to change?

When I attempt to open a file the progress bar gets to about 85%, a "not responding" message comes up for about 15-20 seconds, and then the file opens. Two workstations in the office have AutoCAD 2013, one has 8GB RAM and Windows 7 64 bit, the other has 16GB of RAM and also a WIndows 7 64 bit OS. Neither PC had issues opening files before the new server went in, and neither PC is having problems with any other network program. Is there somewhere within the program or in Autocad's registry entries that might still be pointing to the old server? I have tried the following, Firewall has been turned off, VP has been disabled, repair has been run on the program (through programs and features in the control panel). I have email support through Autocad and sent them an email this morning, but have yet to receive a response.

When I navigate to the 2013 Design Data as indicated by the Material Style Migration dialog, the upper section is greyed out as shown. No Colors.xml or Materials.xml files exist. This displays whether I choose to create a new library or select an existing one (I get the feeling that this tool applies only to pre-2013 migration).
I am unable to proceed to the next step of migrating custom content center libraries, since many of the content items depend upon the custom materials/appearances definitions.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had Inventor 2013 and it worked well for a long time, I didn't use it for a while, then yesterday I tried to use it again and it wouldn't work. It starts up fine, and gets to the menu where you can choose from recent files, new files, tutorials, etc. After I select anything to open, whether its a new or old file, the program will load open the file then immediately stop working. No error message is displayed besides Windows telling me "this program has stopped working". I updated to 2014 yesterday, and the exact same problem persists.

I have upgraded to Inventor 2014 and I'm having trouble transferring my custom content center library (local machine, no server). My understanding was that I copy the .idcl and .idz files from the old folder to the 2014 folder, open the projects dialog box, configure content center libraries button, and use the update tool button.
However, in the configure libraries dialog box my custom library doesn't even show up in the list along with my ANSI, ISO, "My Library", etc. Restarting Inventor didn't work.
