View 9 RepliesI have recently upgraded to 2013 FDS and now when I try to import Acad files (sometimes up to 2000 solids) it takes virtually a full day to import one file. When I had 2011 I could import these files much faster.

when i create a note in an assembly (accidentally, we never use them), all my macros refuse to run from the buttons in the "User Commands" panel.
Why? Bug? What's happening to cause this? Can we programmatically remove or disable the "Create Note" option from the right-click menu?
Is there a way to hide the engineer's notebook icon?

We have maya 2012 and autocad 2013. Does direct connect 2011 allow you to import autocad dwg files into maya? If not, has Autodesk updated direct connect as a maya/autocad plug in so we can use dwgs between the two programs? I can't get support to answer this, they keep saying "we monitor the forums, ask there." So, here goes! Autodesk ought to take a lesson from zbrush, who imports/exports with one button now!

If not, how do you import KMZ files into AutoCAd Civil 3D?
I've been trying to import a Solidworks file (.SLDASM) into AutoCAD 2013. The documentation says this is a valid file type, but it doesn't seem to work The import process completes, but the following message appears: “Import failed. The specified file is invalid or unsupported.”

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have a big problem on several PC's with Acad Map 3D
if the users import their old (Acad 2010 Map 3D) files where symbollists and view settings are stored.
After a restart of Acad it hangs up with following Errors (See attached).
We can solve this issue temporary with restoring the defaults.
So the problem is importing old files so i think it is not campatible with this old acad 2010 files.
Is there a way to import such old files?
I have different SLDPRT files I would like to import into AutoCAD Mechanical 2014 (it's a student version).
My colleague is able to import those files, in my case it always fails even though we are having the same files and the same version.
He has Windows 7, I have Windows 8.1.
I recently upgraded to Map 3d 2010 to Mapd 3d 2013 and i cannot figure out how to find the commands to insert images or import/export shp files.
I'm running 2013 in "autocad classic" and did so with 2010 as well. 2010 had a menu bar pull down called "Map" where I could insert an image (Image->Insert). There was also in 2010 a toolbar named "Map" that had import shp, export shp and assign coordinate system.
I can't find any of this in 2013. I can't even find the commands in the customization to create my own toolbar. The commands work (mapiinsert, mapimport, mapexport and ADESETCRDSYS) but i can't find them listed anywhere.
Importing SAT files has an error trying to open multiple files using the Select Additional SAT Files for Import Button.
Work around is to import using 2012, save and open in 2013, but have not fully tested. Have not tried yet using a 2012 max file as an xRef in 2013.
Is Inventor compatible with STL files (probably not as I haven't succeeded getting them in)? I've got an object scanned and need this scan data as template to rebuild the object in Inventor. If STL files can't be imported, are there any other ways how to get point clouds or meshes into Inventor (or is it just impossible)?

Is there any other way to import MDT 2005 models to Inventor 2013 with having MDT 2005 platform loaded.
If not, where might I find MDT 2005. I have looked everywhere and it seems to be non existant. It would be alot faster than rebuilding anew in inventor and engineers hate to redo something alredy done correctly.
In autodesk inventor 2013 is there a file format (for example .igs, stl, solid works format, catia, pro/E format, etc) that when imported into inventor will appear with its detailed history tree? for example if I try to import a solid works part into inventor 2013 will it appear as one block or will it have its history tree showing the original sketch and other features that were used to make it? If all imported parts will appear as blocks in inventor 2013 regardless of there format, does this latest version of the software have tools similar to direct modeling software (such as KeyCreator) that make it easy to make changes to the 3D imported part, without having to completely remake the part in inventor? Are such tools in the inventor fusion 2013 software instead?
View 9 Replies View RelatedA couple months ago I could export to STL files using Inventor Pro 2012 and a third party could open them on whatever platform they are using. Now when I export to STL files, the third party cannot open them and I cannot open them either on the Inventor Pro 2012 platform. Nothing has changed since the originals were sent to the third party. I have read some of the threads, but there is a lot of STL, none of the ones I read address this problem. The properties from Windows Explorer say the file type is Certificate Trust List (.stl).

We are working with a business partner who has been sending up Solidworks files to import into Inventor and up to today we've had no issues. We just got a bunch of files today and when we import them they appear to be empty. Can Inventor only import certain versions of SWX?
We do not know if our partner updated their SWX or not. We have tried various settings in the Options window and still the same result. I've attached a sample file. We are running the Autodesk Product Design Suite 2012 - Ultimate with Inventor SP1.
When I import my inventor model into showcase it sometimes recognizes the constraints in "behavior" but it never will "operate" the constraints in "behavior". I have made sure the constraint name matches the name in showcase and made sure the box is checked to import my constraints.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to import a step assembly file in 2013. Under the options settings I no longer have or see the ability to,
(Import Multiple Solids Parts as Assembly) This was an option to check.
This seems to be a big issue as we always import the assemblies, then ground them. And this gives us the option of moving or deleting certain components, as well as opening individual components in their own part environment.
I am using Inventor Pro 2014 on Windows 8.1 and when I insert or import a DWG file from AutoCAD into Inventor to extrude it into a solid, nothing shows up. Apparently a wizard is supposed to pop up but when I try it nothing at all happens. I have tried reinstalling it but nothing seems to work. I think importing a DWG into a 2D sketch is a fairly basic thing to do but I'm baffled that it isn't working. I have SP1 already installed.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having some issues with the importation of some old files (from Mechanical Desktop 2008) to our new Inventor 2013...
I've been trying to use the Tasks Scheduler from my 2008 suite to "Import" my files into a new folder but it doesn't seem to be working. (it creates every folder and subfolder but keep them empty)
I know it's possible to install MDT2009 on an Inventor 2012 suite but it doesn't work with the 2013 version.
Is there a way for me to be able to use the old 2003 objects (3D ones) on Inventor 2013 (or on any other 2013 software?)
I have recently purchasedAutocad Premium Design Suite and am surprised tofind that Solid Edge files like.par,.dft, .asm,.psm cannot be opened directly in Inventor Fusion. I was told by the reseller that "I have to convert the files into Parasolid or IGES or Sat formats and then the same canbe opened in Inventor Fusion." This is rediculous as the Inventor Fusion claims that " You can open files from any CAD system directly". This is clearly misguiding. know the correct procedure for data transfer?

I cannot see anyway of doing this with the tools available.
