AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Importing KMZ Files Into 2013?
Mar 22, 2013
Can I import KMZ files into AutoCAD Civil 3D R.2013, or do I need to purchase an add-on package that will make it work? Does it work with just AutoCAD Map 3D?
If not, how do you import KMZ files into AutoCAd Civil 3D?
We have maya 2012 and autocad 2013. Does direct connect 2011 allow you to import autocad dwg files into maya? If not, has Autodesk updated direct connect as a maya/autocad plug in so we can use dwgs between the two programs? I can't get support to answer this, they keep saying "we monitor the forums, ask there." So, here goes! Autodesk ought to take a lesson from zbrush, who imports/exports with one button now!
I've been trying to import a Solidworks file (.SLDASM) into AutoCAD 2013. The documentation says this is a valid file type, but it doesn't seem to work The import process completes, but the following message appears: “Import failed. The specified file is invalid or unsupported.”
Can you import files from autocad windows 7 (using mac w/ bootcamp or parallels) to sketch-up and photoshop on Mac os x 10.8.5? If so, what is the easiest way to do so? Also, would Parallels or Bootcamp be better for going between the operating systems?
I am trying to import a SHP file to obtain a surface. The imported data come in a polyline.
The data containt x and y as well as elevation. But, when I use the command
" mapimport " , the imported data only have 4 elevation ( 1,2,3 and 4). This is rather unexpected because the line represent the topography of a large area.
I am working under Civil-3D 2013. The original data are okay, they were exported from GIS and they works fine on this station.
I have recently upgraded to 2013 FDS and now when I try to import Acad files (sometimes up to 2000 solids) it takes virtually a full day to import one file. When I had 2011 I could import these files much faster.
I recently upgraded to Map 3d 2010 to Mapd 3d 2013 and i cannot figure out how to find the commands to insert images or import/export shp files.
I'm running 2013 in "autocad classic" and did so with 2010 as well. 2010 had a menu bar pull down called "Map" where I could insert an image (Image->Insert). There was also in 2010 a toolbar named "Map" that had import shp, export shp and assign coordinate system.
I can't find any of this in 2013. I can't even find the commands in the customization to create my own toolbar. The commands work (mapiinsert, mapimport, mapexport and ADESETCRDSYS) but i can't find them listed anywhere.
Trying to import a Windes file into C3D using Microdrainage WinDes Link (import from file) under Toolbox in the UK & Ireland reports section... but coming up with an unhandled exception error each time. Is the only way to go about it or can you import it via another means i.e under the import tab??
what the best way to import a windes file into C3D?
I am trying to import PTX or LAS files into Civil 3D and keep getting coordinate errors. Meaning, the scan data comes in at the right size (I've verified dimensions in RealityLINx) but for some reason the scans keep coming in close to the 0,0,0 point. I have tried two seperate projects, one with arbituary coords (7000, 7000, 600) and another with state plane coords (NAD27, Zone 5).
I have tried two ways... Through the Prospector using the CREATEPOINTCLOUD command. The scan data is in metric units and I have not found a way to convert the scan data, in Civil 3D, to feet units.
The other way I have tried is through the POINTCLOUDINDEX command. This command will convert my PTX or LAS files into a PCG and upon insertion into the drawing, I am able to give it a scale factor to try and convert to feet.
Like I said, I have done this all day today, with separate projects and keep getting the same results. I have inserted the scan data in both metric and feet units, measured identical objects and have come up with the same dimensions between the both units. But I still cannot get them to land where they need to.
I am unsure if this is a coordinate system error but most of the stuff that we scan is in an arbitrary system, so I am not sure if assigning a coordinate system will do the trick.
New here, but longtime user of AutoCAD and new to AutoCAD Civil
I can import the shape files through mapimport, problem is that all the areas are coming in as filled in polygons and line strings. Would like both to be able to come in as poly lines.
I have been trying to import LAS files via Civil 3D 2011.
To do this I first turn the workspace to ''Tool based geospatial''. Then i assign a global coordinate system which is the same one as the LAS file i am importing. The in the task pane window (command: mapwspace) under display manager tab i right click on map base --> data --> add point cloud data --> create new index and then choose the file I want to import. Here i have some trouble; in the create new index window i am unable to assign a coordinate system, i can find the one i need but i cant select it (or any other), it persists on staying unselected. I am able to create an index without a coordinate system but I need it with the right coordinates.
I am working on a project where I need to bring in multiple building site files from Revit as .adsk files to one Civil 3D model. The first building always imports just fine. For any building after the first, I get the following message:
"The selected file contains a definition of a building site that is already in use."
"What would you like to do?"
"Update the definition of the existing building site (cancel the import and use the selected file to update the definition of the existing building site.)" - THIS OPTION REPLACES THE FIRST BUILDING WITH THE NEW BUILDING I HAVE SELECTED
"Browse to another file (display the file browse dialog to select a different file.)"
My team and I have tried every we can think of including the following (see attached):
Renaming the files Moving the files to different folders Importing each building site into a new file and copy and pasting into the model (this works until someone tries to import a building site, which will inevitably happen and ruin this work around)Double-checking all related settings.
Every time I go to modify or even just save a previously created block my copy of C3D will corrupt the file. The corruption of the file is not noticeable until I go to insert the block into any other dwg. If I try to insert this modified block into any drawing it will not scale to the correct units. It does not matter if it is a dynamic block or a simple block of a square it will corrupt them all the same way. Extremely Frustrating to stay the least.
P.S. I have tried using the repair tool, re-install and a coplete uninstall and reinstall of AutoCAD C3D 2013 and no change. I also have installed Service Pack 2.
how to import my 2006 ctb files into 2013. I found 2006 file thru options, file, plotter path. Copied to plotter path in 2013. It showed up but did not plot correctly.
Using AutoCAD 2013 and a basemap that was created in an earlier version of AutoCAD (likely 2002), the coordinates of points exported from surveying equipment are changed when imported into the basemap. Why would the coordiantes be changing when placed on a basemap?
I am trying to import a CSV file in AutoCAD 2014 but cannot find proper function. Is there any automatic function that will do it for me or I have to create some kind of tool to accomplish that task?
I have a drawing with 72 layouts in it. I also have two drawings with one layout each, that I want to appear in the first drawing. How do I import the layouts from one drawing to the next? I found, "to import layouts as sheets", but it does not seem to be what I need.
I have tried to import a DGN file into AutoCAD 2013 both plain jane and the verticals. I am trouble shooting at the moment gathering more information but so far this is happening to me and another computer in a different office as well.
I just installed 2013 on my pc yesterday. The first task I was given was to import a Google Earth image into AutoCAD to try to get some dimensions on a house for an exhibit. I open Google Earth and set my location to import, then I go to the Render tab, select Set Location, I click Import the current location from Google Earth, click Continue, then i get an error message saying Class not registered.
I have been working on a drawing that was originally created from an AutoCAD 2004 version, and I have since been working on it in AutoCAD 2013 student version. The drawing from autoCAD 2004 was of plans for a house and i saved them over to model them in autoCAD 2013.
I have since finished the model and tried to import the drawing into 3Ds max 3013 cersion and a message reading "ObjectDBX Classes" appears. I have read up about this and tried to download an AutoCAD 2004 ObjectDBX Classes Object enabler. I am unable to download this as I do not have a copy of AutoCAD 2004, this is only available at my work.
I only have AutoCAD 2013 and 3Ds max 2013 on my home computer, not at my work.
