View 3 RepliesWhen I open a drawing in Autocad 2014, the drawing name opens as drawing1 or drawing2, etc. The files have been saved with a drawing name, however when I open them after saving they open as a unsaved file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm in AutoCAD 2013. I've been working on a drawing everyday (was just working on it yesterday), but can't open it now. I just get a blank gray screen when I open if from within AutoCAD. When I open it from my computer drive while AutoCAD is closed, AutoCAD opens and I get "Drawing1.dwg." I've tried the RECOVER command, but I don't get a response. I tried RECOVERALL command which let me choose a file to recover, but it responded saying it could not recover the drawing.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI want to know how to open a dwg file that has been saved as a pdf file format so i can edit it.
Why do people save it to a pdf anyway? Doesn't that degrade the quality of the drawing?
I have a lot of clients that send me there drawing but i constantly have to tell them that they have to send the original form if they want it to be edited. Most of the time I have to use a converter to to convert it to a dwg file but the quality degrades drastically. I can’t believe in 2013 I’m still having problems with this.
I’ve tried Any PDF to DWG Converter but it doesn’t convert it very well.
How can I check with which autocad version a drawing is saved?
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to change the saved version when running a titleblock update?
Even though my save preference is set 2010, anything saved during a titleblock update is in 2013.
Noticed this in 2013 & 2014
Why does the justification of text created in 2013 change when I save to an earlier version of AutoCAD (2002)?

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe have maya 2012 and autocad 2013. Does direct connect 2011 allow you to import autocad dwg files into maya? If not, has Autodesk updated direct connect as a maya/autocad plug in so we can use dwgs between the two programs? I can't get support to answer this, they keep saying "we monitor the forums, ask there." So, here goes! Autodesk ought to take a lesson from zbrush, who imports/exports with one button now!

Can I import KMZ files into AutoCAD Civil 3D R.2013, or do I need to purchase an add-on package that will make it work? Does it work with just AutoCAD Map 3D?
If not, how do you import KMZ files into AutoCAd Civil 3D?
I'm trying to customise my drawing templates to keep them up to date and also include accountability.I seem to be having trouble in including the name of the person who has last saved the model, and the date the model was last saved.
Manually including this information isn't ideal as people will forget, and it makes it harder to trace revisions.I can't see anywhere on the iProperties where the 'Last saved by' feature is available, but I thought maybe the information could be pulled from the username from the application options?
The last saved date should be easy, as there is a modified date in the model's iproperties; however, I cannot pull this information.I have used other cad packages in the past and this was never an issue. With all the customisation of Inventor, I thought this would be relatively straight forward.
I've been trying to import a Solidworks file (.SLDASM) into AutoCAD 2013. The documentation says this is a valid file type, but it doesn't seem to work The import process completes, but the following message appears: “Import failed. The specified file is invalid or unsupported.”

The first task I was given was to import a Google Earth image into AutoCAD to try to get some dimensions on a house for an exhibit. I open Google Earth and set my location to import, then I go to the Render tab, select Set Location, I click Import the current location from Google Earth, click Continue, then i get an error message saying Class not registered.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been working on a drawing that was originally created from an AutoCAD 2004 version, and I have since been working on it in AutoCAD 2013 student version. The drawing from autoCAD 2004 was of plans for a house and i saved them over to model them in autoCAD 2013.
I have since finished the model and tried to import the drawing into 3Ds max 3013 cersion and a message reading "ObjectDBX Classes" appears. I have read up about this and tried to download an AutoCAD 2004 ObjectDBX Classes Object enabler. I am unable to download this as I do not have a copy of AutoCAD 2004, this is only available at my work.
I only have AutoCAD 2013 and 3Ds max 2013 on my home computer, not at my work.
Can you import files from autocad windows 7 (using mac w/ bootcamp or parallels) to sketch-up and photoshop on Mac os x 10.8.5? If so, what is the easiest way to do so? Also, would Parallels or Bootcamp be better for going between the operating systems?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have a big problem on several PC's with Acad Map 3D
if the users import their old (Acad 2010 Map 3D) files where symbollists and view settings are stored.
After a restart of Acad it hangs up with following Errors (See attached).
We can solve this issue temporary with restoring the defaults.
So the problem is importing old files so i think it is not campatible with this old acad 2010 files.
Is there a way to import such old files?
When I try to attach a 2013 Excel file into a 2014 drawing I get a message 'You have selected an unsupported DGN File. Only V7 and V8 files are supported.' Cannot attache through the Import command either. I know in past versions you could insert the file and any changes made to the file appeared to the attachment in the drawing.
Is this no longer possible? Surely not, it is way to handy. What am I overlooking to make this happen?
When I use the import excel points function in the 2D sketch menu of Inventor 2013, nothing happens when I open the excel file. No points are drawn in the sketch... I don't even get an error message... I have tried the same thing on another computer with the exact same spreadsheet and it works 100%.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe currently utilize AutoCAD for our mine mapping purposes. I recently had a seismic study performed to determine the top of salt. I asked for a .dwg file of the contours that were developed. The .dwg file they provided does not have our autoCAD map on it. They are simply contour lines. These contour lines, however, have the same coordinate system as our mine map. The surveyor and I provided coordinate data to the company to develop the contour lines. I would like to lay these contours into our mine map. How do I import the contour .dwg file into our mine map file so that they lay exactly where they should?

If not, where might I find MDT 2005. I have looked everywhere and it seems to be non existant. It would be alot faster than rebuilding anew in inventor and engineers hate to redo something alredy done correctly.
In autodesk inventor 2013 is there a file format (for example .igs, stl, solid works format, catia, pro/E format, etc) that when imported into inventor will appear with its detailed history tree? for example if I try to import a solid works part into inventor 2013 will it appear as one block or will it have its history tree showing the original sketch and other features that were used to make it? If all imported parts will appear as blocks in inventor 2013 regardless of there format, does this latest version of the software have tools similar to direct modeling software (such as KeyCreator) that make it easy to make changes to the 3D imported part, without having to completely remake the part in inventor? Are such tools in the inventor fusion 2013 software instead?
