AutoCAD Architecture :: Importing Excel 2013 File Into 2014 DWG?
Jul 8, 2013
When I try to attach a 2013 Excel file into a 2014 drawing I get a message 'You have selected an unsupported DGN File. Only V7 and V8 files are supported.' Cannot attache through the Import command either. I know in past versions you could insert the file and any changes made to the file appeared to the attachment in the drawing.
Is this no longer possible? Surely not, it is way to handy. What am I overlooking to make this happen?
i need to export Geometry Data (in properties) X,Y,Z coordinates/points from a Sold 3D object into Excel (csv.file) I have tried data extraction (EATTEXT) but it doesn’t pick the points up unless I add points manually.
I have AutoCAD 2013 and often "paste special" excel files that automatically update when the excel file changes. The problem I'm running into is I work with a person who has uses an older version of CAD 2004, so I always save to the older format for him.
When I etransmit, I be sure to add the excel file, but when he opens the dwg, only the outline of the excel appears in his dwg, no content.
When I use the import excel points function in the 2D sketch menu of Inventor 2013, nothing happens when I open the excel file. No points are drawn in the sketch... I don't even get an error message... I have tried the same thing on another computer with the exact same spreadsheet and it works 100%.
I'm running Inventor 2013 service pack 2 on a Lenovo Y570 with an Nvidia GeForce GT555M GFX card
when creating a schedule with a simple formula column (e.g : [QUANTITY]*Width), the formula column total doesn't add the formula results for a grand total. The total shown is the addition of Width of element.
If I try and enable "Apply formula to totals", the total is : total quantity*total width instead of just a simple addition of formula resulting values.
For example:
I have 4 windows of 2 different styles. Two windows have a width of 2 meters, the other 2 windows have a width of 3 meters. I want to find out, my total window width, of all window styles. Therefore, i make a schedule with the following columns: QUANTITY, WIDTH and TOTAL WIDTH. The total width column is a formula column (Quantity*Width). The total of the formula column (Quantity*Width) doesn't add the resulting values (2*2+3*2=10), it only adds the simple widths without multiplication with quantity, my result is 5, wich is incorect. If i enable "Apply formula to totals", it multiplies total quantity (4) by total width (5).
I need a solution for having the corect total on the formula column.
I have been migrating dozens and dozens of .pat files from one version of AutoCAD to the next for many, many versions. Most recently in AutoCAD 2013 the .pat files were stored in the C:Program FilesAutodeskAutoCAD 2013SupportPatterns - worked fine. During the migration to 2014 I received an install error report stating that this subdirectory did not exist and could not be created. Alternately it stated that the new default path C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupport will be used instead.
At first I created the Patterns subdirectory where it could not be done automatically. No luck. Then I placed the Patterns subdirectory in C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupportPatterns and no luck.
I know that if I use IMPORTOBJ I can import an excel file....but the file is multiple pages (within the same workbook page). Is there a way to bring that in withought breaking up the Excel file into mulitple files?
Is there a possibility to furnish a hyperlink linking on a defined Excel-data sheet within an Excel file? Are there other possibilities to tie together to a drawing object external additional information, e.g., a product name, product data or product pictures?
I had Inventor 2013 and it worked well for a long time, I didn't use it for a while, then yesterday I tried to use it again and it wouldn't work. It starts up fine, and gets to the menu where you can choose from recent files, new files, tutorials, etc. After I select anything to open, whether its a new or old file, the program will load open the file then immediately stop working. No error message is displayed besides Windows telling me "this program has stopped working". I updated to 2014 yesterday, and the exact same problem persists.
I am trying to import a CSV file in AutoCAD 2014 but cannot find proper function. Is there any automatic function that will do it for me or I have to create some kind of tool to accomplish that task?
I recently installed Autocad 2014 with Carlson Survey 2014. When I use Etransmit or file conversion i get a Fatal Error. when i uninstall the civil 3d object enabler, the problem goes away, but i need the object enabler and i need to convert files. Is this not a major issue that Autodesk would consider important enough to address, or is the object enabler minor in comparison to other issues?
I am importing solidworks assembly files into AutoCAD 2014. They show up fine after importing them. It says the assembly is in inches but when i go into the individual parts blocks they are all 25.4 scale. Is there a way to not have all the parts scaled up when it is imported?
I have a character model in Mudbox 2014. I exported the face, body and hands as individual .obj files, each at its maximum subdivision level. But in Mudbox 2013 the sculpting layers are all flattened on the main layer.
Is there an option to keep the sculpting and painting layers intact?
I am attempting to update a section and the program hangs at message "Missing double in restore file". this is becoming critical for a particular project
I need to import .SLDPRT files but when I run the import command the only formats for importing appeat to be DGN. I can select my .SLDPRT file, but then a message appears indicating that only v7 and v8 .DGN files are supported.
I'm trying to import an excel table into autocad. I can copy paste using ole and that works fine. It prints well, but when I print it as a PDF the file is not legible.
I am having a problem with my table that I insert from excel into ACAD 2010. The Data in excel is on automatic color and arial text, once imported into ACAD as ACAD entities the data in my table does not want to change to being bylayer as the cell type is set to but instead stays on white. The only way I can change the color is by entering the cell and changing it manually to bylayer.
I have created a Excel spreadsheet to impoort into my Inventor model, but one of the valves that I have created need to be a unitless/type. How do I set up a Excel cell to acheive this
I want to import my excel table to autocad. but when i try to do this, the table is not correctly import. im using paste special command and past to link. if i paste my file excel, image and other formats, i can not plot my draw. i attach my excel file.

When i import points (csv) from my excel sheet into Civil 3D, i can't see the actual points on the display frame, but i can see that the points have been imported by looking at the prospector tab > Points.
I'm importing custom iproperties from an excel document into inventor using the code I've written below. I've figured out how to bring up a dialog box to select the excel file I need, but I'm completely stumped when it comes to selecting the sheet within the file. As it is now, I'm specifying the sheet in the code itself (Str. C). My goal is after selecting the excel file from the dialog box, have ilogic list all the sheets within the excel file, then be able to select which sheet I need using a radio box, list box or some sort of prompted entry.
I am designing a RCC Dam and the shape of the dam is constant and will not change, but the dimensions of this shape are very likely to change depending upon hydraulic analysis.
I have written a program (irrelevant, but I am using MathCad 14) that performs a stability analysis of a RCC Dam (based on elevations from the hydraulic analysis) and then exports the dam dimensions and coordinates to Excel.
I am attempting to then take those coordinates (or dimensions) from Excel to create a 2-D dimensioned drawing of the Dam in AutoCAD.
I have successfully linked the Excel spreadsheet containing these coordinates and dimensions to AutoCad tables in my drawing, but I am having trouble getting AutoCAD to update my drawing as these tables update with different coordinates and dimensions.
I would like to have a drawing that is fully dimensioned (as the shape of the dam will not change), but that will update coordinates and dimensions as I pump out different dam dimensions from my stability analysis.
Can you import layers from a file other than the AutoCAD types, e.g. .dwg, .dwt etc? I have made a list of layers in Excel that I would like to import into AutoCAD without having to manually create each layer at a time (there are approx 150 layers).
