View 2 RepliesCan you import layers from a file other than the AutoCAD types, e.g. .dwg, .dwt etc? I have made a list of layers in Excel that I would like to import into AutoCAD without having to manually create each layer at a time (there are approx 150 layers).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an excel sheet containing alignment coordinates i.e
Station Number
Northings
Eastings and
Tangential Direction
I wanted to export these into Civil 3d so that I can work with the info. What format would I save my excel document? is it 'text (tab delimited)' or 'csv (comma delimited) or formatted text (space delimited)?
I've tried all the above but I keep getting an error message from AutoCAD that point files not in right format
NB: Am using MS Office 2010
Is it possible to insert a list of layers that have been created in an excel file?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with my table that I insert from excel into ACAD 2010. The Data in excel is on automatic color and arial text, once imported into ACAD as ACAD entities the data in my table does not want to change to being bylayer as the cell type is set to but instead stays on white. The only way I can change the color is by entering the cell and changing it manually to bylayer.

I've figured out how to bring up a dialog box to select the excel file I need, but I'm completely stumped when it comes to selecting the sheet within the file. As it is now, I'm specifying the sheet in the code itself (Str. C). My goal is after selecting the excel file from the dialog box, have ilogic list all the sheets within the excel file, then be able to select which sheet I need using a radio box, list box or some sort of prompted entry.

I am designing a RCC Dam and the shape of the dam is constant and will not change, but the dimensions of this shape are very likely to change depending upon hydraulic analysis.
I have written a program (irrelevant, but I am using MathCad 14) that performs a stability analysis of a RCC Dam (based on elevations from the hydraulic analysis) and then exports the dam dimensions and coordinates to Excel.
I am attempting to then take those coordinates (or dimensions) from Excel to create a 2-D dimensioned drawing of the Dam in AutoCAD.
I have successfully linked the Excel spreadsheet containing these coordinates and dimensions to AutoCad tables in my drawing, but I am having trouble getting AutoCAD to update my drawing as these tables update with different coordinates and dimensions.
I would like to have a drawing that is fully dimensioned (as the shape of the dam will not change), but that will update coordinates and dimensions as I pump out different dam dimensions from my stability analysis.

When I try to attach a 2013 Excel file into a 2014 drawing I get a message 'You have selected an unsupported DGN File. Only V7 and V8 files are supported.' Cannot attache through the Import command either. I know in past versions you could insert the file and any changes made to the file appeared to the attachment in the drawing.
Is this no longer possible? Surely not, it is way to handy. What am I overlooking to make this happen?
When I use the import excel points function in the 2D sketch menu of Inventor 2013, nothing happens when I open the excel file. No points are drawn in the sketch... I don't even get an error message... I have tried the same thing on another computer with the exact same spreadsheet and it works 100%.

I am trying to import a list of customers from column A in an Excel file into a list for a popup_list for my Drawing Properties DCL. I am having trouble finding information on how to do this.
Basically: Load the file, (workbook through active sheet: vlax-get-property)
(setq xlSheets (vlax-get-property xlBook 'WorkSheets) )
Then, how do I get it to put column A properly into a list for the DCL?
I work for a company that makes sheet metal cabinets. Each cabinet we construct has 17 parts that all different different blank sizes and notching. I have a template for each part right now that I have to shrink or stretch to the appropriate size every time we get a custom size order.
What I've created so far is an excel spreadsheet that determines the sizes of all the parts based on the overall height width and depth of the custom cabinet that was ordered. Any way to define a parts properties with a dynamic block and get the width depth or height imported in from the excel spreadsheet to automatically adjust the size.

I want to export the layers names to Excel, as I used in VBA. I'm using AutoCAD 2011 (64b), VB Express 2010, Office 2003 (32b). I ran this routine in XP 64b and W7 64 with the same problem.
No problem in building the DLL, or loading it to AutoCAD. When running the command, Excel opens, but no workbook is created and I get this Unhandled exception error:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80028018): Old format or invalid type library. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80028018 (TYPE_E_INVDATAREAD))

I have a document that I would like to import an Microsoft Excel spreadsheet into.
Basically, my document is a diploma that can range anywhere from 15-250 different names and corresponding dates with those names. It would save a great deal of time if I didn't have to manually type the names and dates into their respective spots.
I have a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that if possible, I would like to autofill the information into the Illustrator file.
Between the second & third lines of text is where I would like to enter the first column of text. It would be NAMES that go here.
Then, between the fifth & sixth lines of text is where the second column of text from my spreadsheet would go. This area would be filled with dates.
I have been using CorelDraw for years (since version 2) to dress up charts generated in Excel by using copy picture from Excel and pasting (special) as an enhanced metafile. Now since moving to Excel 2010 and CorelDraw X5 it seems some functionality has changed so that most of my chart objects (symbols, lines, but not text) appear in CorelDraw as two separate objects when I view them with wireframe mode.
One seems to be the outline of the object, the other is the centreline (see below). This makes editing tedious because for symbols, I must individually delete the outline object. For lines it is impossible - basically a line in the Excel chart turns into a "sausage" which can be both filled and outline edited. Maybe I am just missing an option somewhere to deal with this or is this some option in Excel that I need to change (re- the latter, a colleague with Adobe Illustrator doesn't have this problem on the same Excel charts).
I was wondering if there is a way to import a bunch of detail drawings into my template, without all the layers that go along with the details.
See, sometimes I need to use details from other companies within my drawings, and they have crazy annotations and a lot of different layers. It would be nice if I could import their details as one big block into my template that I like to work with when doing my work. Is there a way that I can import that details block (including its color codings and such, not changing anything) onto ONE LAYER. Otherwise is there a way to create like a folder within the layer manager that I can dump all those layers?
It's just such a mess once I drop their details into my work, it would be nice if I could isolate all that stuff, yet keep everything as it looks on their files..
Is there a method to import Layers from existing DWG file to another? I want to import all layers with their names.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to create a whole load of layers (approx 150) by importing them from a xls spreadsheet into my AutoCAD layer manager. How this is achieved without having to create each layer at a time by manual entry? Note that I created a .las file (attached as a .txt version) based upon exporting an existing set of layers to a .las file and then amending it. However, after saving the amended .las file it would not re import into the layer manager.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn CS6, I could import (open) DWG files and it would correctly categorize the input objects into separate layers. In CC, it is putting them into a group in a single layer, which is a big usability regression. Is there a fix for this?

I would like to create one that will fit every project which has a different xref name.

View 9 Replies View RelatedCreate a large number of polygons (plines, parcels, whatever) that represent spaces on a building plan
Assign a space number to the polygon
Link the space number to an Excel spreadsheet (or Access DB) so that the characteristics of the polygon (line and fill color, for example) are chosen based on the "owner" of the space (e.g.; Engineering, Common Areas, etc.).
Display a label stating the space number and the space name. Is this best done with "Parcels" in Civ3D, or with "Polygons" in Map, or some other way.
I was trying to export my alignment, at certain intervals, to excel (or text) as xyz data. I tried searching and found... Alignment to xyz
But it didn't really work. I can export the XY but not the Z in the report manager.
So my questions are.... How can I create a new report to incorporate the Z? Or is there another way to do it?
I should add I also tried the "Incremental Stationing Reporting" from the Profiles Report... However it doesn't recognize the profiles I've created? I get the "No FG profiles in....." even though there are?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to insert an excel table using a datalink. If I insert the entire sheet, it includes too many cells. If I set a print area and choose that area, it will not insert the table. The first time it acts like it is going to work, but then never lets me place the table. The second attempt it just will not let me select that data link. If I actually name a group of cells, I get the same behavior as the print area. Have issues with importing excel tables? Am I missing a step?
My work flow is
Create an excel sheet & format the table.
Select desired sells, set print area.
Save & Close excel
go to annotate tab in civil 3d
select table icon
choose from data link
launch data link manager
create data link and choose range of cells as print area.
Press OK
it never let me choose insert point.
I have also tried to simply make the datalink and then run the table command with the same results.

tried to insert Excel tables into 2013 3D? It worked fine in 2012 but we just upgraded to 2013 and it no longer works. We get an error message that Excel is not supported. Is this a new feature or a bug? Also, our old drawings with the table already inserted does not plot normally. The table characters print at diffent sizes.
