tried to insert Excel tables into 2013 3D? It worked fine in 2012 but we just upgraded to 2013 and it no longer works. We get an error message that Excel is not supported. Is this a new feature or a bug? Also, our old drawings with the table already inserted does not plot normally. The table characters print at diffent sizes.

My problem is when I delete or add lines on my excel sheet it changes the format on some of the cells changing font size and justification on some cells of my table. The changes to my table seems random.

I was wondering if there was already a post as to how to not lose your fields when you download from source. I have a table that has fields from my sheet set with drawing names etc...but everytime I click download from source it converts the field to plain text.

Well I had a day and a half trying to figure out how to bring Excel data into LT. Again. Here is what I have found out:
Running Excel 2010 I have a xls files (of type '97-2003 xls - file includes VBA). The file spits out a ton of data that I want to put in a schedule in AutoCAD. The schedule format needs to match our standard format - RomanS in white and blue.
If I copy and paste as a link the font remains stuck as Arial (regardless of source font) and can't be relaxed unless you go one cell at a time in the text editor. Also the resultant table size is tiny -
If I save the file to .XLSM (macro enabled '10 excel file) the results are the same. If I save the file to .XLSX ('10 excel file and ditch the VBA project) the results are sublime - the font is ok and I can go back and forth from AutoCAD to my now broken spreadsheet because VBA IS MISSING! The resultant table size is tiny but I can deal. I don't see how AutoCAD can work with xlsx but not xlsm.
I also found that if I save the sheet (values only) as a .csv file I can use that to create a table from file without font overrides screwing everything up.
I'm running AutoCAD LT 32bit on a Win7 32bit OS. My Office version is 2010. I would like to link data to a '97-'03 version of an xls or an xlsm without having the font overridden to Arial.
I am trying to insert tables into AutoCad from excel the problem that I have is with the text style.
Every time I copy and paste as a linked AutoCad entity the text does not come across as the correct text style - for example if I want the table text to come out as ISOCP it comes across in a bolder text, requiring me to enter in the cell and select ISOCP I don't have to highlight the text in the cell i only have to enter inside the cell.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have set up some autocad tables that are linked to excel data( using relative path) in an Autocad Architecture project template. In the xref dialog box, the data links are show as relative path e.g. ..Standards excel file
After creating a new project from this template and right-clicking in one of the cells which have linked data and selecting "data links" and "open data links file" it opens the template excel file, not the excel file within the project folder.
If I use the xref command, select and right click one of the excel data links and select "open" it does open the correct excel file located in the current project folder.
The xref dialog box does show all the data links as relative path e.g. ..Standardsexcel file.
I have a new issue that I am unsure what to do about.
This has never occurred with previous version of ACAD and this is the first time I created data links with Autocad 2012, and I am using the same procedure that I have successfully used in the past.
I have data tables linked to excel spreadsheets. I used the "TABLE" button on the ANNOTATE ribbon to place the table, and the layout of the cells assumes the layout of the excel spreadsheet, which is what I want.
As long as I don't Scale the table, I can Update the data table links just fine.
However when I scale the table and then update table links, the table layout changes drastically, and is undesirable.
I have tried locking the cells' but that will not fix the problem.
I want to keep the layout of the table that is assumed when I place the table originally. Is there any way to lock it as such?
I've previously used Autocad 2008 Electrical. I've just started a new job and I have been asked to update some electrical drawings from a recent project. My current employer use Autocad 2010 as opposed to Autocad Electrical which I have previously used.
The problem I have is that I have a drawing with a table linked to an Excel spreadsheet that displays an I/O table.
Since the drawings have changed the amount I/O has increased.
I have a new excel sheet with the new I/O list which is larger than the old I/O list.
When I "point" the Table to look at the new spreadsheet in the "Modify Excel Link" Dialogue and alter the "Link to Range" Tab to my new desired excel sheet and apply the changes the table. The new excel sheet populates the table correctly until the end of the old table used to stop then the format goes all to hell and the new part of the table is way out of scale and at 90 degrees out to the original table.
I think I am possibly missing a step somehwere when updating the Data Table Links!?!?....Do I need to alter the table properties somewhere too?.
I'm trying to import an excel table into AC as an AC entity with a datalink so I can update the excel file. However the AC entities import looks like a disaster! (see picture)
How can I import it in a way that will more accurately maintain more of the formatting of Excel? I'd rather not use the MS spreadsheet import because then it looks distractingly unnatural...
I imagine there isn't really a solid answer for what I'm trying to do, just looking for some tips and tricks to make it slip in a bit better

I have LT 2012. I use Excel 2010 into my drawings to set up tables. When I opened the drawing I've been working on, I had lost all of yesterday's data. Command History shows dozens of these notations, "AcDbLine(41859) XData Handle Unknown, Null" In Help it says you can no longer turn handles off, so it should be ON. How can I point the drawing to my Excel data?

When starting a table, i click on the table icon, go up to the columns & rows box & type the numbers that i want ...but whatever i type, a 3 x 3 table appears.
I just upgraded from AutoCAD LT 2004 to 2006. The work that I have been doing requires that I insert Excel spreadsheets on all of my drawings. In 2004 it was quite easy to size the spreadsheet.
When you pasted it AutoCAD LT would prompt me for a size which would get me close and then I could drag the corners to perfectly fit the spreadsheet. With 2006 it does not prompt me for a size AND dragging a corner is not as easy. Sometimes it will not let me drag it smaller. I then have to use the scale command.
Is there a way of inserting points from an excel spreadsheet that come into the part file already fixed, instead of manually selecting the points and selecting the fix constraint?

When I etransmit, I be sure to add the excel file, but when he opens the dwg, only the outline of the excel appears in his dwg, no content.
was wondering if it's possible to bring in the value of a single Excel cell into a predefined window area in AutoCAD LT 2012? Some of our tool and die calculations are done in Excel, but we only want one cell (equation summary or description) brought into to AutoCAD 2007. If not AutoCAD LT 2007, then what about a more recent version of LT or even full blown AutoCAD?

Then I created multiple section view for each corridor (pic3) ( for all corridors in section view table tab, i added corridors own materials). but cumulative material volume reset to zero at each new corridors beginning. In my project, corridors cumulative material volume value should continue from the previous corridor's value. Can i connect this volume tables or can i merge corridors ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am doing a little trial and error on possibly converting a drawing from .ctb to .stb. When we start a new drawing, it will be started using named plot styles so it shouldn't be an issue. But there are times when we receive a drawing from someone else and need to convert it.
The first thing I did was convert ctb to create a conversion .stb. Then I used convert pstyles to convert the drawing to named plot styles. For the plot style table I chose the conversion .stb I just created because it needs a color mapping table.
But I don't want to use the converted .stb table, I want to use my company plot style. So when I am in layer properties manager, Plot Style is still grayed out and I can't change it.
When I type in pstylemode, the default is 0 (read only). How do I change it so it's not read only and I can use my own plot style table?
I managed to input the values of "Point Number", "Easting", "Northing", "Point Elevation" for 8 points of my CDC project that has 4 Sampling Locations with 2 Depths in each location - see the attched file for details. I also manually added the SampleID to the "Name" of each point. Now I want to do the following 2 things via the "Annotate" menu:
1) Add Labels: Instead of Point Number, I want to use the SampleID to label each point. How can I do it?
2) Add Tables: I have some chemical results/data (in Excel .csv file) for each point. I want to attach these chemical results/data to each point. Should I create an external Database? How can I designate that external Database is for the 8 points of my CDC8pts.dwg? How can use the external Database to label the chemical results/data to each point?
I have read some tutorials:
(i) I rotated my CDC8pts.dwg several times - the current view is from the Bottom of Z-axis and the Point Numbers are in the reversed mode!! How can I set the Point Numbers in the normal mode? If the Point Numbers are replaced by the SampleID, how can I set the SampleID in the normal mode too?
(ii) I saw the "Point Groups"/All Points thing on my CDC8pts.dwg, they appeared in this dwg, after I did the inputting for the "Point Number", "Easting", "Northing", "Point Elevation". Should I do something on the "Point Group" before I do 1) and 2)?
I'm working in Civil3D 2011. How to export the data from the surface volume tables to excel, or any other format outside of Civil3D?
Or maybe a better question: how to create a stage storage table automatically within Civil3D? The elevations table gives volumes per elevation class, but I'm trying to get cumulative volume stored below various elevations in my reservoir.

I am doing a project and I have a lot of feature lines. I will need to be able to lable these feature lines with tags and then create tables for those. My question is, is there an easy format that I can do that will lable these lines in an order I set it up? Right now it just lables all over the place. The lines are counting the curves too. For example: L1 L2 L3 C1 L5 L6 C2 L8. I can make it work, would just think there is a better way. BTW I am using Civil 3D 2011.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been able to insert a PDF into an AutoCAD 2013 dwg but only as an attachment. This seems to be similar to xref but I can't seem to bind the pdf to the dwg. Therefore when I send the dwg to a client and they open it, they only see the drawing format and no PDF attachment. Sending the PDF as a separate file is not an acceptable solution.
Is there a way to insert a PDF and bind it to the dwg so an external reference file is not required?
I'm not interested in converting the PDF to a dxf or any other format. Just interested in knowing whether there is a way to insert and bind a PDF to an ACAD dwg.
