Oct 17, 2011I have an Excel spreadsheet I am testing to see how to edit table data in Map 3D and see the changes back in Excel. I have created the .udl file from my Excel file, which AutoCAD stores way down in the Data Links folder. I attach the .udl file as a Data Source. It shows the named range and I can view the table but it is always Read Only. I checked the Access permissions under Properties and none of the boxes were checked. So I checked ReadWrite but I still can't edit the table.
Then I tried just attaching it as an FDO provider. It links and displays the table just fine, but when I perform an edit (which it allows), the whole program crashes out without a single warning. Like I never had Map open.
This may be a Windows 7 permissions thing but since Map won't let me change the folder location where I save the .udl file, I can't test this out by putting it in a folder I know I have full access to.
AutoCad :: 2010 And Creating Tables And Linking To Excel Spreadsheet
Jul 9, 2012I've previously used Autocad 2008 Electrical. I've just started a new job and I have been asked to update some electrical drawings from a recent project. My current employer use Autocad 2010 as opposed to Autocad Electrical which I have previously used.
The problem I have is that I have a drawing with a table linked to an Excel spreadsheet that displays an I/O table.
Since the drawings have changed the amount I/O has increased.
I have a new excel sheet with the new I/O list which is larger than the old I/O list.
When I "point" the Table to look at the new spreadsheet in the "Modify Excel Link" Dialogue and alter the "Link to Range" Tab to my new desired excel sheet and apply the changes the table. The new excel sheet populates the table correctly until the end of the old table used to stop then the format goes all to hell and the new part of the table is way out of scale and at 90 degrees out to the original table.
I think I am possibly missing a step somehwere when updating the Data Table Links!?!?....Do I need to alter the table properties somewhere too?.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Error When Creating View In DWG
Nov 29, 2012I had created som drawing before I had to make som adjustments to my model which made it a deal larger. Then i went back to my drawings. Everything was perfect exept my arrangement drawing where I have used the master wiew from my model to make a drawing. When i returnd, this was locked. I'v deleted the wiews in the dwg file and I'v tried to make som new ones but the master wiew becomes invisible in the dwg sheet. Ewery other wiew works just fine exept this. I guess it's because it is a large file, but how can I fix it?

it is a local rule in an idw file that has been saved with an ipt file of the same name saved in the same directory. Now I get the most useless error message ever devised by manking

Apr 9, 2012I'm created the parts successfully with no error, but when I try to create a flatten view it kept giving me error. I notice that some people try to use chamfer to resolve this issue but I tried with no luck. Also, I play around with the gap size and still get the error. How to create the flat view for me so I could learn how to do it.

The purpose would be to plot xrefs with plot style table x while maintaining the company's plot style table for the drawing itself. The output would then be a plot in proper style for all parties involved.
This would save us the job of converting the layerstructure we get delivered by external parties to our own.

Oct 14, 2012tried to insert Excel tables into 2013 3D? It worked fine in 2012 but we just upgraded to 2013 and it no longer works. We get an error message that Excel is not supported. Is this a new feature or a bug? Also, our old drawings with the table already inserted does not plot normally. The table characters print at diffent sizes.

Can I add tables to that database from either inside a Lightroom plugin or externally? I see no documentation of any API capabilities granting direct queries of the SQLite database and as of now it's looking like the only technique I have at my disposal is to create my own homebrewed database system using the file system. I would like that not to be the case.

Sep 16, 2013I've started using tables linked to excel files for drawing index on cover sheets. My problem is when I delete or add lines on my excel sheet it changes the format on some of the cells changing font size and justification on some cells of my table. The changes to my table seems random.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Missing Design View Representation From 2013
Jan 8, 2013My company have recently upgraded from Inventor 2010 to Inventor 2013, on the whole I like it a lot better but there is one feature I can't find or Autodesk have removed. I have attached an image of what I mean if I haven't explained it very well but on the browser bar there used to be a drop down 'design view representation' that you could change back to 'master' quickly. I found this very useful as I often use the 'visible' tool to hide parts then want to unhide them all at once. Is there another way of doing what I want or does this tool exist hidden away somewhere else?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Running View 2013 Does Not Create Registry Key
Aug 17, 2012i am wanting to use the apprentice server in another program. The apprentice server is 'normally' found in the registry under this key:

The problem is, that if you uninstall all things autodesk, and run a registry cleaner (or delete that key by hand), and then install only inventor view 2013 and run inventor view 2013, it will *not* create that key in the registry.
This makes it impossible to run the apprentice thru the COM mechanism, even your SDK samples will not work.
(i suspect (but havent proved), the bigger problem is on a brand new machine, install and run only inventor view 2013 , you still can't use the apprentice server.)
The 'workaround' is to install and run inventor view 2012. running inventor view 2012 will create the registry key. After that, running inventor view 2013 will happily update the key's value to the appropriate place.
(C:Program FilesAutodeskInventor View 2013BinRxApprenticeServer.dll)
so try this :
1) run regedit and delete the key and all its subkeys
ComputerHKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSIDC343ED84-A129-11d3-B799-0060B0F159EF
2) optionally install inventor view 2013 ('as administrator' or not doesnt matter).
2) run inventor view 2013 ('as administrator' or not doesnt matter). exit it
3) run regedit. the key is not there still. you won't be able to run any SDK samples or get an apprentice server using the following 'basic'
Set ApprenticeServer = New ApprenticeServerComponent

Aug 19, 2012In solidworks there's a "hidden line" option that displays a 3d part with all its sketch lines (instead of a regular solid) which allows the user to view all the different sides of the part easily. So I was wondering if there's such an option in autodesk inventor 2013. Currently, to view all the different sides and aspects of a part easily, i have been changing the part's material to polycarbone or some other plastic material; this makes the part a little translucent. But this is less effective than the hidden line vew availble in solidworks. method that makes different parts of a 3d part more easily to be viewed?

Sep 6, 2012I'm trying to install the latest Inventor View on all of the computers at work and keep getting this error. The program installs fine, opens fine, but I can't set it as a default program to open .IDW, .IPT, and .IAM files. When I do I end up with the error "not a valid win32 application".
The computers are running the 32-bit version of XP, and Inventor View 2012 works fine on all of them (after doing the DtDv install trick).
Also, while we are talking about Inventor View, is there ANY reason at all why it isn't combined with TrueView??? Seems like such a hassle to have two programs doing basically the same thing, with TrueView being MUCH more functional.

Aug 7, 2013At my company, we do a large amount of work with sheet metal parts and assemblies. On our drawings, we like to do "detail" views of the flat patterns of each part of the assembly. Basically, how we do it now is insert a base view of the assembly and the BOM onto the first sheet and then on separate sheets, we place base views of the flat patterns for each of the components that will be cut on our cnc plasma table. We use the item number to denote which part it is in the assembly. Is there any way to pull the item number from the assembly BOM and use it as a parameter that can be inserted into the view label? Right now, it's a nightmare if the assembly BOM is modified because we have to go back in to each view label and manually change the item number.

Oct 31, 2012I have a drawing that I created (.dwg) in Inventor 2013 that, when opened, is completely blank. However, when in the File>Open dialog box, I can click on the name of the drawing and the preview shows the complete drawing with all views fully dimensioned. I closed Inventor, laucned AutoCAD and tried opening the same file and it was still blank (no views). I then closed that file and open the old version of the file from the, "OldVersions" folder with Autocad and all the views and dimensions were there.
So I launced Inventor again and reopened the offending print and noticed that the model is not shown in the drawing's model tree. I'm 100% positive that I did not delete this model/view from the drawing before saving the file. This is a small drawing and it will only take me a few mintues to recreate it.
I'm using Inventor 2013, SP1.1

Nov 2, 2012I'm trying to take multiple parts of the same type and make them into one .ipt I began doing this and It seemed to be working fine. When I put those grouped .ipts into an .iam, Inventor creates a Subfolder of each .ipt and fills it with each part from that group and now those created ipts are unique unlinked parts (unlinked to the group ipt). I'm trying to reduce our file count and link our .ipts and .idws/.dwgs so this Inventor file creator results in the opposite of what I'm looking for. My question now is is there any way to modify this process to work the way I need it to or is there a completely different way that I should be doing this?

From the inventor dialogue box there are two commands to add rows to the table.The insert row command. Which inserts a row in the table.
The add row command which inserts a row set the sheet revision property & sets the new row active.
I have tried to insert a new row with the following code & make it active but this does not work. Is is possible to create a new active row through the api? The new row gets added but cannot get the new row to become the active row.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2013 / Changing TOP View To TOP-Front View For 2 Overlapped Points
Sep 23, 2013I created 8 points (4 locations with 2 depths in each location) in the DWG of my AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 project. I grouped these 8 points into 2 Point Groups: Point Group 1-high depth has Points #1, #3, #5, #7, and Point Group 2-low depth has #2, #4, #6, #8. I changed the 2D Wireframe to 3D Wireframe and on TOP view I saw Point Group 1 is on the top of Point Group 2 (because the 2 Point Groups have the same values of X- and Y-coordinates with different Z(elevation) value - see the first attached file. How can I change the TOP view to the TOP-FRONT view by using some Command to get this fixed TOP-Front view thar has the good separation of the 2 depths as shown in the second attached file?
