AutoCAD 2013 :: Creating View Aligned With Face
Apr 4, 2013How to create a view that lines up perfectly with a face of my 3D object.
View 2 RepliesHow to create a view that lines up perfectly with a face of my 3D object.
View 2 RepliesI frequently use the "Make Components" feature in order to derive assembly parts from solid bodies in a single master part file. Then I can quickly align the parts in the assembly with the "Ground and Root Component" utility. However, when the part is placed at an angle, the derived part becomes misaligned in the viewports of my idw files after the part gets rotated to a new angle. Then I have to manually reset the rotation by editing each viewport and selecting "View Face." If the angle has changed only slightly, sometimes I won't notice the difference, and I'll forget to re-align my viewports. Is there some way to automatically keep a viewport aligned with an specific face on a part?
If that's not possible, I guess the simplest method would be to place each part into its own assembly and constrain it to the global UCS, but I don't want to have to do that for every angled part in my assembly.
I also considered drawing only sketch blocks in my master file for the angled components, and deriving the sketch blocks to create parts that are properly aligned with the origin planes in their respective ipt files, but with that method I'd end up with a more complex master file with lots of exported parameters and extra working geometry, and I'd have to constrain these parts manually instead of using "Ground and Root Component."

I have a problem with the management of the cloud of points with autocad 2013. and precisely:
- What is my need: using orthogonal views create section planes of small portions of a cloud to be scanned.
- What is my problem: When I align a view, the bounding box is not aligned to the same, so this involves a wrong cut plane to create the section
how to edit a solid with opening a hole only one face and deleting an another face..
I added a drawing file which has a coloured face solid,I put a circle on blue face and making a hole on this face, and I want to delete red face without exploding solid, after all this I want to mesh this solid with maximum 25 units.
When I try to create a table from a view, I get the following error. I have never had this error before?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have some models which are based on skeleton modeling and where the actual parts are modeled at the position where they are in the assembly. When the skeleton part is changed the parts will update and their orientation related to the origin planes can change. This is where the problem lies, on the drawings of these parts the views are all skewed after an update.
Is it somehow possible to tell Inventor that all views on a a drawing should stay alligned to a workplane? Because it are all parts and no assemblies I cannot use posreps (and I don't want to use dummy assemblies). I also tried setting a specific edge to be horizontal with the rotate command in the drawing. This works for the base view, but all projected views will still be skewed after an update.
It seems that there is a problem with the section view function in Inventor.
The projected section view is not ailgned with the base view.
I assume that the attached screenshot is very clear.

Is there a way to use PRESSPULL on a face that's behind or underneath another face. When I use PRESSPULL it always selects the face on top and sometimes I want a face that is behind or underneath that face.

Of all the ways to generate a leader (when the correct one to the center of the dim can't be generated), the extremely acute angle version doesn't seem like the best option.

I see nothing obvious in the place view dialog box controlling the visibility of this line............how do i show this line in the view?

is there a way to tell Inventor to align the view to be perpendicular to the Origin axes when View Face or Sketch on face is selected?
It is most disturbing to have to work with the view cube once in the Sketch just to have it make sense?
This is in Inventor Pro 2012.
I simply would like to show the normal vector of a 3d face, is it possible?
I didn't find any command apparently, neither on the help menu...
Is there a way to do this? After perusing some threads on creating edges from vertices, the "Create" tool under "Edit Geometry" doesn't seem to solve my issue. In Blender, you can create a face by selecting at least three vertices and pressing "F". Is there anything similar to that feature in 3DS Max?
I'm using the 2010 version.
I created 8 points (4 locations with 2 depths in each location) in the DWG of my AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 project. I grouped these 8 points into 2 Point Groups: Point Group 1-high depth has Points #1, #3, #5, #7, and Point Group 2-low depth has #2, #4, #6, #8. I changed the 2D Wireframe to 3D Wireframe and on TOP view I saw Point Group 1 is on the top of Point Group 2 (because the 2 Point Groups have the same values of X- and Y-coordinates with different Z(elevation) value - see the first attached file. How can I change the TOP view to the TOP-FRONT view by using some Command to get this fixed TOP-Front view thar has the good separation of the 2 depths as shown in the second attached file?

Using Autocad 2014
I am trying to insert blocks into my drawings and for the most part I have been successful using Design Center. However, I have difficulties turning some of those blocks from the Plan View into the Elevation View, even when they show as elevation blocks. Even the downloads that show as 3-D end up being inserted as 2-D in plan view. In floor plan mode, I have no problem; so how do I turn them into 2-D in elevation mode?

There is any option to merge bottom face of pad eye and pipe curved face... Something like
1. Extrude face to a surface or
2. like notch option available in frame generator ?
N:B - pad eye is made by extrusion and pipe made by frame generator.
All I need to do is merge a circular face to a flat face, so both faces become one continuous face. Is this possible at all?
I have a attached a screenshot to show what I mean. Face 1 needs to be merged with face 2. This is so if I constrain anything to that face it will constrain to the entire face and not either the circular face OR the flat face.
