When I use the import excel points function in the 2D sketch menu of Inventor 2013, nothing happens when I open the excel file. No points are drawn in the sketch... I don't even get an error message... I have tried the same thing on another computer with the exact same spreadsheet and it works 100%.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just finished up a ground level survey. I've jotted the coordinate and levels down in my notebook and typed them up on Excel. I'm having trouble getting the coordinates from excel into AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 version.
I'm VERY new to this sort of stuff as a trainee site engineer the most I do is simply take coordinates from a drawing to set out on site. I'm importing the points from file using Civil 3D.
I've simply saved the coordinate on excel as, for example:
430245.454 434264.654 62.321
I get this error "No point file format match found" when I try and import them. I've had a look at some Youtube videos and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Maybe it's the file type I'm saving it under.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to attach a 2013 Excel file into a 2014 drawing I get a message 'You have selected an unsupported DGN File. Only V7 and V8 files are supported.' Cannot attache through the Import command either. I know in past versions you could insert the file and any changes made to the file appeared to the attachment in the drawing.
Is this no longer possible? Surely not, it is way to handy. What am I overlooking to make this happen?

I am trying to get Sketched Symbols with leaders to align.
I have a sketched symbol defined that has connection points defined at the outer quadrants. If the symbol doesn't have a leader they snap together at the connection points without any problems.
If the symbols have a leader they either won't snap, or jump to a random location depending on what grip you select to move.
The following video image shows the problems with the symbols with leaders.
I am using Inventor Professional 2011.
I have a series of points that I've placed along a sloped line in a 3D Sketch. However, if I delete one of the points, all the points that have been created are erased as well. I found a way to get around it (remove the constraints of the point I'm trying to delete and then delete the point). However, if I want to delete multiple points, the solution I have would take up some time.
I don't want to create a rectangular pattern in a 2D sketch because, when the line changes slope, the pattern doesn't seem to recognize the new slope direction and the points appear offset from the new sloped line.
Is there a way I can get create some semblance of a pattern in 3D sketch and also have the ability to delete individual points within a series of created points?
Given a sketch, I wish to get its profile paths (outer, plus inners), for each path, I wish to get their individual curves (line, arc, splines, any type). For lines, I need start and end points, for others, some sample points would do.
For "T" like thin profile shape, following code got me, 1 Profile Path, which had 8 Lines (thus 8 points) and it worked fine.

I have been searching for a macro to export the start and end point of a line coordinates to excel, but I can only find information on how to export 3D Points.
Is it possible to program a macro that allows me to export the start and end point of various lines in a sketch?
The objective of this is to connect an excel file which is updated when I create a line with it correspondent points, then i could not only import these x,y,z coordinates from excel to inventor but I whould be able to update my spreedsheet whenever I change my sketch.
I am trying to import Acad 3D polylines to an Inventor ipt 3D sketch via insert -> Acad etc. Sometimes the segments between vertices come in just fine (see first pic), but other times they are all squiggly (second pic).
The Acad polylines are true 3D lines with varying X, Y and Z. I need to bring the lines to Inventor in order to sweep along them. I am using Autocad and Inventor 2013.
I am trying to create a 3d surface by importing points from an excel file. I have been using "import points" in the 3d sketch mode, and checked off the box that says "create 3d spline." But this just causes Inventor to freeze and crash. My excel file had about 2000 points, all of which lie on the surface I want to create in Inventor.
Should this method work in theory, and do I just have too many points?

I'm importing custom iproperties from an excel document into inventor using the code I've written below. I've figured out how to bring up a dialog box to select the excel file I need, but I'm completely stumped when it comes to selecting the sheet within the file. As it is now, I'm specifying the sheet in the code itself (Str. C). My goal is after selecting the excel file from the dialog box, have ilogic list all the sheets within the excel file, then be able to select which sheet I need using a radio box, list box or some sort of prompted entry.

I have a newly discovered issue with left clicking and moving lines and points in 2D-sketch.
After working in Inventor for a while I cant move lines and points(green and unconstrained geometry). If I exit 2D sketch mode and enter again I can move a line once and then its back to not being able to manipulate the geometry at all, the curser just want to create a marking box.
I have a new optical mouse with cord, its a Logitech G400. I have switched mouse but with the same result.I have installed the latest driver for the mouse.
Within a part, I'm trying to identify sketch points that are generated from projected geometry, but the geometry is subsequently changed higher up the feature tree, leaving a pink sketch point (or worse). What attributes would such a sketch point have?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using projected and sketched geometry (2D sketches) in assembly space to create lines/ points that I intend to use to define planes and axes. The problem I have is that nearly all the geometry I create (lines and points in 2D sketches) is not "selectable" when I try to create planes or axes. I cannot even put a work points "on top of" my sketch points. Why are my sketches not usable in the assembly space? Since the components in my model are just two extruded rings I don't have any linear edges I can select to make this work/ define planes.

The starting point of the line should be from wherever the top sketch intersects the plane of the current sketch. The finnish point of the line should be wherever a line of the bottom sketch intersects the current sketch plane.
There is no tooltip appearing that would allow me to quickly "attach" the starting line to the correct position. Is there such an aid, and how do i turn it on?
I have AutoCAD 2013 and often "paste special" excel files that automatically update when the excel file changes.The problem I'm running into is I work with a person who has uses an older version of CAD 2004, so I always save to the older format for him.
When I etransmit, I be sure to add the excel file, but when he opens the dwg, only the outline of the excel appears in his dwg, no content.

In 2013 SP1.1 we are noticing that when using offset in a sketch, the offset line/curve is invisible and cant be seen until a zoom is done, then it appears.

Editting sketch - close sketch. No model update.
This is an existing 3D model created with inv2011. inv2013 does not like much of what we created in the old releases of inv.
Sketch gives me 1 dimension. Part and drawing give the old dimension value.
This is yet another major sign of unstable software. Over 24 software issues discovered from changing inv2011 to inv2013.
I'm unable to open or otherwise query an Excel spreadsheet.
