AutoCAD 2013 :: Dimensioning A Section Created From Baseview?
Feb 1, 2013When using Layout/baseview/section tool, you end up with paper space views of the model so that when you go to dimension the view, you get the paper dimension, not the model dimension. How can I change this behavior?

It used to be that when entering the baseview command your ribbon would dynamically change to give the functions and features within the command. Seemingly in 2014 this no longer happens.I also find that after creating the view, I have inconsistent object snapping.I get endpoints on some objects, but not on others.

Mar 18, 2011I use Xara sometimes to resize images/photos. Quite often I use the clip view function to crop the image to the precise size I need.
I just recently found that when I export my clipped views, always as pngs, they have a very small 1 to 2 pixel edge around them. I can keep clipping but it continues to stay there. I exported with alpha and without to see if it made a difference but it doesn't.
I am now having to use my raster program to resize but had liked using Xara for it. The raster program works fine and I suppose every program has its uses so I just won't use Xara for photo clipping and exporting anymore. I just think that there shouldn't be an issue since Xara seems to want to handle photos more.
The attached images show extreme closeup of a blue image on a black background (the black background is used for checking this very problem).

When we have a clipped XREF the boundaries are selectable as well as the insertion point.
We want to be able to lock the xref inplace and make it not selectable?

Nov 22, 20121. I put a clip in a timeline , then i put a cfx clip on top of the first clip. Add axis clip to cfx clip, set transparancy to 100% (fully transparent) , when hit render , this cfx is still calculated.
2. if i have stack of cfx clips, the clips are solid (no matte or transparancy ). one clip is on top of the other. In the top layer , i add a axis fx and cut a very small hole. We can see even a very small hole ( that will exposed small part of the bg ) will trigger smoke to render both of the clip full frame. Actually i only will see small part of the BG so i'm expecting smoke to render only that visible pixel. How to control this ? In some case i will waste my time waiting smoke to render part that i don't need.

With CS6 if you start with the crop tool, and find you want to change the perspective, you have to change tools to the new perspective crop tool. In the process, you have to tell the newly opened dialog box that you don't want to crop, to get to the perspective tool, which now has reset to its defaults. You've lost your cropping and you have to start over.

Jan 22, 2008I've been using the crop tool without any knowledge of the little boxes you can fill in to restrict its WxH dimensions. I always wanted my crops to come out at a 2:3 ratio and could never get them perfect since I was just eyeballing it.
So then I found the WxH controls and if I put "2 in" for width and "3 in" for height, my image will come out as desired, no scaling of the image, but with the unfortunate side effect that my DPI has been changed, which causes problems for me later on. Now if I put "2 in" x "3 in" and then specify 72dpi in the "resolution" field, it will actually scale my image which is not what I want either. Now if I put "2 px" by "3 px" of course it will massively scale my image, which again is not what I want.
What I want is to re-crop my image to a 2:3 ratio, WITHOUT scaling, AND without modifying DPI. Is this possible with the crop tool? It seems that my WxH numbers are required to have units after them and I don't want any of those units (inches, px, mm, etc). I want unitless cropping, basically cropping by ratio. Does this make any sense?
I have a work-around which involves batch resetting all my DPI's at the end of the session. But that adds another step to my workflow which is not a very elegant solution.
AutoCad 2D :: Moving PDF Clip To Another Drawing
Jan 24, 2013I need to move a PDF within it's own box to another drawing. It's acknowledged as a DWG.
The DWG. is something I can't upload.
Describing the box is kind of hard. It has its own perimeter and reacts fine within it's own DWG and behaves normally, and there's no message when trying to move it or Copy it.
But, when Copying into a new drawing, then it doesn't come through. There's no error message or any sign of it on the the new DWG. The background comes in fine, so there's no issue there. All X-REF's are working.

How can I add a vertex to a polygonal pdf clipping?
Usually I can just select a vertex and pressing crtl will cycle through add vertex, remove vertex, and if it's a line segment, change to an arc. When I select the vertex of a polygonal vp clip I can't do this.

Mar 4, 2012Every time that I open a new drawing which has clipped XRefs, the X clip frame is set to the number 2, and I set it back to number "0", but then when I finish that drawing and open another drawing, then the new drawing reverts back to X clip frame 2.
How or where I can change the setting to the default is always "0"?

Oct 10, 2012I am trying to use the PDFCLIP command to clip an underlayed PDF. The problem is, I am trying to clip multiple sections from this PDF and am struggling to do so. I select the underlay, select Create Clipping Boundary, select the polyline I want to use and invert it and it clips out the area. When I try to do this again, it won't let me keep the existing boundary and create another one. It seems like I can only crop one area at a time?

Feb 12, 2013So we have this custom construction note routine. It creates all the notes with station, offset, blah blah , and it is all together as once piece. So if you move the note group the leader will stay attached to it and it holds all of the label properties.
When I copy clip, wblock, insert these key notes into another drawing they are no longer a group and there is no way to move them all together.
This has created a lot of extra work and moving stuff around that does not seem necessary.How can I copy or move construction key notes from one drawing to another without losing the group properties. I have tried WBlock and making sure the grouping is on when I copy and paste/insert them but it still doesn't work.
Oh and we are running a 64bit 2013 with the carlson suite application,
