I am running ACAD 2012 & Civil3d 2012 and would like to install ACAD 2014 to start playing around with the software. Are there issues with running both versions on the same computer?
View 3 RepliesIf autocad is running when I unlock my computer it will freeze. It still lets me close out and save my work, but I am unable to do anything else in the program. Sometimes it will crash my video driver recover then allow me to continue working.

I am trying to insert a block into a file in Acad 2014 and it comes in too large. If I insert the same block into the same file using Acad 2012 it comes in at the correct scale. Doesn't seem to matter if insunits is 0 or 1, or insunitsdefsource or insunitsdeftarget are also 0 or 1.
There must be some variable or variables I'm missing.
Is this supported by Autodesk, and will installing both products create any issues?

Our design engineers would like this so they can learn the new version while still using the old version, but I'm concerned about the two versions conflicting with each other on the same PC.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had trouble installing the program on Windows 7 after aborting on the first try when an error message about a font issue appeared and I wanted to find out more info. It took four retries, rebooting and adjusting my security settings I have it installed as a trial version (I think), but when I try to launch the program it goes through the initiallization process each time and then shuts down just as it is launching. Do I uninstall and start again from scratch? I have experience in installing 2000LT and 2004LT on various computers over the years with out ever having an installation issue.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 CC onto my computer. Lightroom had no problems getting set up and is ready to go. I had an old demo version of Photoshop CS6 on my computer and was told to delete it, which I did. Unfortunately, it also damaged Photoshop 6 CC and I had to unistall it also. Now CC is saying it is up to date and won't reinstall it. I really need to start working on something I promised I would have ready by Monday and can't do it because I don't have Photoshop again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe just recieved 2014 C3D upgrade from 2012. I opened a 2012 dwg and saved in the 2013 file format. now when i attempt to open the drawing in 2014, C3D freezes while loading the drawing. It can't seem to get past "reading triangles from file". Weird thing is i can open a copy of the original 2012 DWG and work for minutes or hours in 2014 saving many times along the way and if i close the DWG and attemp to re-open, it freezes up everytime. I have done this same procedure with other DWG's and don't have any issues.

Don't know if I need to check some other setting or this is just the way it is. When I use PUBLISH to plot a set of drawings, I can't do anything else on the computer. If I try to type in any other software, it is interrupted and the cursor moved away from the software. I am able to type maybe a couple letters in any software, then the cursor goes away, put cursor back, type 2 letters, repeat, interrupt, cursor back, 2 letters etc..

I'm having an issue with my cad files that were done with Civil 3D 2012. When we made the jump to Civil 3D 2014 all my drawings seem to be corrupt. Now I have pipe networks in my base file. I have tired recovering and recoverall but no luck. I can send the CAD file.
View 1 Replies View Relatedheres the problem we had created a slope style in 2012 15% - 25% and 25% - 100%. done this many times with no problems. so we upgrade and open the file in 2014 now there is a large white area that c3d is filling in.

I have been migrating dozens and dozens of .pat files from one version of AutoCAD to the next for many, many versions. Most recently in AutoCAD 2013 the .pat files were stored in the C:Program FilesAutodeskAutoCAD 2013SupportPatterns - worked fine. During the migration to 2014 I received an install error report stating that this subdirectory did not exist and could not be created. Alternately it stated that the new default path C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupport will be used instead.
At first I created the Patterns subdirectory where it could not be done automatically. No luck. Then I placed the Patterns subdirectory in C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupportPatterns and no luck.
I have a client who has a customized workstation in 2012 and is trying to move to 2014. We have gotten most of it done but theyaretryingtoloadacustomlipsroutineanditkeepsfailing.

I have upgraded from 2012 to 2014 but there is a smaller list of visual styles for the Ilogc form. I used to set all forms to "iMaginary" but his is not an option in 2014. Is there a way to copy the form visual style from 2012 to 2014?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHappens every year. Upgrade and spend half a day or more trying to get everything back to the way I had it. All I have is a couple small toolbars for commands that are several clicks deep in the ribbons and I want them "right there" all the time.
I thought Autodesk 360 might be a good tool for this. All it did was DOWNLOAD some old settings and destroy one of the toolbars I'd created. They really need an override in there to specify upload, download, overwrite or don't.
I'm trying to migrate (I guess that's the technical term) my settings from 2013 Mechanical to 2014 Mechanical. It's probably too late already, after 360 did its deal, but I really want to get this down so we don't go through it every year anymore.
I maintain that PTC had this part of it down Pro/ENGINEER. You had a config file that was editable plain text.

AutoCAD 2013 installed as expected but I can not run the Flash based introduction movies.
I am a new to AutoCAD, have never used to program before and would like to switching the "preferences" (which I can't find) to a better browser like Google Chrome.
Suggestion for Autodesk: Please dump IE in favor or propper browsers. IE has never and will never work properly.
In conclusion: How can I get the Flash videos to work. Where do I register the software?
