Aug 28, 2013I have a problem with Illustrator CS6 on Win7 x86 on one of our users' machines. The font Arial Narrow is installed, MS Word / Framemaker pick it up and you can use it, but Illustrator and InDesign won't see the font. So my user can't use Arial Narrow as the family so can't select the font for bold/italics/underline. He can only choose narrow as a sub style of the Arial family, but Arial Narrow has been installed seperately.

The font has also been placed in the Common subfolder for adobe softwares, but after that it still won't be found.What has been tried:

Uninstall and Reinstall the fontAdd font to font folders for adobe products (both common and product specific)Clearing Windows and Adobe font caches ..All these steps have not solved our problem.

Jan 10, 2010I am creating a layout in Illustrator 13.0.2 on a Mac and trying to use the Eurostile font I purchased at the Adobe font store. When using this font "Create Outlines" is greyed out and nothing I've tried has changed this. However, when I change the font "Create Outlines" returns to a viable selection. This leads me to believe the problem lies with the font. Embedding for this font is listed as "Preview & Print" at the Adobe store - it would seem this should be sufficient. I'm certainly no Illustrator expert but there isn't anything unusual about this document.

Sep 8, 2012I'm using Illustrator CS4. I am unable to Create Outlines for a font after I had used the type on the Path Tool. I had used the ellipse tool to create a closed circular path, then I selected the Type on a Path tool. I selected my text using the arrow tool and ctrl-shift-o (Create outlines) and then I receive the message: "Can't Create type outlines." Not quite sure why this is happening. Did I miss something? The thing is this - my type is in the position and alignment that I want and I don't necessarily want to work with the Type as a Font but as vector shapes.

Illustrator :: Create Outlines Rendering Font Poorly In CS5
Aug 6, 2012Is there a reason why when I convert a font using create outlines, this is happening with Stempel Schneidler btw, it appears to add a bit of weight to the type? I've never run across this issue before. I first noticed it when I printed out the document. It all of a sudden seemed heavier compared to the font normally. The problem becomes much more pronounced at a small scale. I notice it onscreen AND when I print it. I wouldn't normally create outlines but the letterspacing is pretty tight on this and I need to make a TY ligature.

Dec 23, 2012I installed Creative Suite CS6 a few months ago and it all ran fine. I have been away for 3 weeks or so and on my return, Illustrator will not open. When initializing, it stalls on 'reading fonts...' and stops responding, meaning I have to force quit.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling + updating, clearing my font cache, deleting my Illustrator preferences folder etc.
Illustrator :: CC Not Opening Legacy Files Or Fonts?
Aug 1, 2013Using CC for a few weeks and I am not yet convinced of its quality over my faithful CS5. I have an issue with files not opening, they may once when I start Illustrator, but then they do not again. Illustrator doesn't freeze, it allows me to carry on with the file I am working on but I can not open any legacy file?. I have tried opening by double click, by file>open, I have opened a legacy file back in CS5 copied the graphics and attempted to paste them into my CC document and nothing, the only way I can get around this is to shut the program and or machine down and start again?

Also the same with fonts, if I have a file open, and open fonts afterwards, Illustrator has a mind of its own whether it wants to show the fonts or not. Some days its happy to, others it has a bad day and will not show them in the list at all no matter how many times I reload them, only a shut down fixes this?

Nov 30, 2013I just installed Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 CC onto my computer. Lightroom had no problems getting set up and is ready to go. I had an old demo version of Photoshop CS6 on my computer and was told to delete it, which I did. Unfortunately, it also damaged Photoshop 6 CC and I had to unistall it also. Now CC is saying it is up to date and won't reinstall it. I really need to start working on something I promised I would have ready by Monday and can't do it because I don't have Photoshop again.

I can't go to the preferences panel to attempt to fix the problem addressed in the first dialogue because PS will not stay open long enough to allow me to do so. I also googled the issue and the majority of people seemed to say that holding down ctrl+alt+shift as the program loaded would present me with a dialogue that would fix the problem, but when I tried it nothing happened.
