I am trying to learn Annotative text using multiple viewports. My question: I have text in Model space with Annotative scales to match two different viewports in layout space. Sometimes the text or dimensions for that matter appears in a different place in the two windows. What gives?

I've completed my drawing (Autocad architectural 2012) and set-up my multiple view-ports (at 1:50 and 1:5 scale) on my title-block.
I'm now going to add my text and dimensions im model space....and that's when the problems start!
I've created text and dimensions in annotative style.
The issue I have is when I change annotation scale from 1:50 to 1:5 my text and dimensions in model space automatically changes (as can be seen on attachment) to a huge scale but is perfect in layout view for differing scales.
I have used annotative text and selected yes for match orientation to layout for the text. In the viewport it is rotating automatically with the view, however the boxes around the text do not rotate as well. Is there anyway to automate this?
The Client requires a key plan which has all the pipe data on it. The key plan is oriented in one direction. Then for the plan & profile drawings, the plan is oriented in another direction. I don't want to have two create two sets of text (one for the key plan and one for the plan/profile drawing). How can I use one set of text and make it work in the key plan and for all the plan/profile drawings? Image is attached.
Im trying to keep annotative blocks in the same spot on different scale viewports. The main issue Im having is, when i have a lets say house plan in viewport #1 and have all my blocks in place that I moved copyed from my template. When I open another viewport at a diffrent scale the blocks move. Im useing a large number of blocks for electrical symbols we use at work that I need to be in every viewport so we can copy them and place them where needed on the plan.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEvery once and a while when I open up a dwg, autocad will load with what looks like two viewports in my model space tab. The bottom viewport is not clickable and the top viewport is very thin and is the one I am able to move around in. I would like to get this to stop.

Is there a way to export out the layout tab where the viewport contents have been converted and placed into the layout space?
Ideally, I'm hoping to basically convert the viewport heavy paperspace into a dumb model space layout.
Can it be done like you can with Text etc?
i know it can be done via lineweights, but you cant "lock" the lineweight in model space,
at the mo, to generate a thinkness in a line i use the global width for that pline.
i dont want to use line weights as i sometimes have multiple lines with different widths on the same layer, i could split the layers, but i'd rather not to.
How do I make annotative tags, callouts, and blocks non-annotative. AutoCad will not let me change them in the properties tab.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter drawing in model space(1:1 Scale) I then dimension as needed using Annotative Dimensions, Multileaders and MText using the same 1:1 scale. But when I create the variuos viewports on my layout pages the dimensions aren't scaling to the viewport scale.
This is where it may be partly my fault; When I first started using annotative dimensions etc. a box would pop up asking what scale to use. Because I am dimensioning in model space, rather than always seeing this text box I selected "Do not ask again" check box to always use 1:1 scaling.
These are some of the other settings in place;
ANNOAUTOSCALE = 4
Annotation Visibility = ON
Automatically Add Scales = ON
I need to start doing shaped glass drawings for our new glass supplier who insists everything is viewed from outside. Unfortunately all our drawings are viewed from inside and I don't want my team to be responsible for copying and flipping glass details in case they forget to flip one day.
I can obviously mirror the viewport view by clicking View/Views/Bottom but this is also mirroring any text dimensions, even though my Mirrtext preference is set to 0.
Is there a way to set a dimension style where the text is automatically back to front so it will then appear the right way round in that particular viewport. How to get round this problem without duplicating parts that can then get missed at a later date and not amended?
This needs to work in both AutoCAD 2014 and AutoCAD LT 2014 as we run a mixture in our office.
I have one layout. On that layout I want to have 2 viewports. I also have ssay block A and block B I want to insert.I would like Viewport1 to display block A and viewport 2 to display block B.
What happens to me is when I created Viewport 1 and inserted block A. I go on to create viewport 2. But viewport 2 displays only block A, which I cannon delete to insert block B.
I wrote a program to separate drawings with multiple layouts into several drawings. The problem I'm running into is even though there is only one viewport in the layout.the program is finding two. One has the right viewcenter, width and height the other is wrong.

However that panning is limited to the active viewport, 1 at a time by double clicking in the viewport. Is there a way to apply -pan to a number of viewports, say I want to move all the model space irrespective of scale 300 mm to the west or 100 mm to the north in more than 1 viewport.

Under View Tab when I go to choose different Viewport configurations sometimes some of the views change to isometric view. I don't know how to change it back to 2d view.
They mension something about viewport control lables which should be in top left corner, but I don't see those in my viweports.
Is there a way to copy a viewport with all its layers setup from one drawing file to another drawing file?
I can copy the viewport and activate it, but the layers setup for that viewport goes to default. So it turns everything on.
I can't make a layer state in the old file and import in new file, because the new file does not have all the same layers. So not all my layers would be turned off in the viewport.
I am creating plan sheets and using the sheet creation tool. The plan sheets I am looking to make have stacked view, similar to a plan and profile sheet, only they have the horizontal alignment in both views.
I have a template set up with two viewports, but when I try to create the sheets it puts the same view frame in both of the viewports. Is there any way to set this template up so that I can have, lets say, STA 100+00 - 110+00 in the top viewport and then STA 110+00 - 120+00 in the bottom viewport. I understand that I can move the viewports once they are created, but I would rather have that done automatically. I am not sure if what I want done is possible with Civil 3D.
I am currently working on a .DWG in Civil3D which has 12 viewports. This particular .DWG causes my computer to lag quite a bit. I was wondering if there was a way of combining viewports in paper space (i.e. taking areas from multiple viewports and displaying them in one viewport), or if I am stuck with the individual viewports? I am just looking to speed up the process, it takes a long time to load the .DWG and work within it, the problem happens to others as well.

Large area with many smaller sites (retention ponds and such)
All sites must remain in the paper space layout
(I've tried deleting viewports, and that does speed up the process, but again, I need to keep all sites intact).

I have two viewports, one that is not rotated at 1:50 scale, the other rotated at 1:20 scale, and using associative dimensioning, therefore viewing the same model object with two associative scales. The rotated viewport is showing the dimenions upsidedown since it is rotated more than 180deg. If I modify the dimension properties to Left to Right instead of Right to Left, it rotates my other unmodified viewport. The only way right now to have the dimensions showing properly, is to print the first pages with the unmodified viewports, then modify the dimension properties, and then print the rotated viewport pages.
View 0 Replies View RelatedIf I have UPSFOLLOW set to '1' when using multiple viewports in the workspace when I click from one viewport to another it refreshes the viewport that I'm leaving with the setting of the viewport I select. If I set UPSFOLLOW to '0' it doesn't happen. Is there a way of stopping this happening without having to keep changing the UPSFOLLOW setting i.e. have UPSFOLLOW set to '1' and the viewports not change when swapping them?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm currently trying to make an MV block which is a combination of a 2D symbol and its 3D representation. I want the 2D symbol to scale in line with the annotation scale so have set the annotative flag on my symbol block but I do not want the 3D representation to scale so this does not have the flag set. However, when I put the two blocks into my MV block and then alter the annotation scale, both the 2D and 3D blocks both scale.
Is there something more that I need to be doing to to make the two blocks act independently and comply with the annotative flag set on them? I have seen this behaviour work on MEP2013 but can't see anything different on its 'devices' and my simple blocks.
Can a DIMSTYLE with annotative box checked be used in Layout or Paper Space? If so, are dimension at risk of losing their associative to part being dimension or be subject to change their Scale Factor when moving model or a different user (machine) opens the file?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIN Autocad 2013, I'm trying to measure an annotative dimension. When I do it, it doesn't show the units along with the measurement.
For instance, it just shows up 24 when in fact I want it to say 24". Or if it was metric I would want the "m" to show up after the 24. How do I get the unit to appear?
so in one drawing, the annotative scales of the objects are listed as 1" = 30' etc, and in the drawing i have them xref'ed into are 1:30. the only way i can get the annotative txt to show up is to make them non-annotative.
im assuming it has to do with the difference of 1:30 and 1" = 30'.
how to make annotative text also hlep me with some file i don't know how to use this command what is function.

I tried to turn off the layer in one viewport while leaving the layer turned on in another viewport but i could not get it to plot correctly. It's off in my drawing but when i go to plot its on in all viewports. What is the reason that this happens? my plan file is too large i may have to post it seppartly
View 7 Replies View Relatedwhen it comes to viewports in paperspace in 2013, due to the nature of my work i have several layout drawings all drawn on top of each other and all with ther own txt and dims etc, which again is all on top of each other making it impossible to work in model space, for this reason i work in paperspace within a viewport but now i have upgraded to 2013 while i am in mid command e.g. dimension and zoom into first point then zoom back out and in again to second point, by this time i have been kicked out of the viewport and just in paperspace so cant complete the command, doesnt always happen?
