I am using ACAD LT 2012. I currently have 3 ucs viewports in my drawing. Each time I switch from one viewport to another using my left mouse button, the drawing regenerates. How do I stop this from happening?

Is there a way to export out the layout tab where the viewport contents have been converted and placed into the layout space?
Ideally, I'm hoping to basically convert the viewport heavy paperspace into a dumb model space layout.
I have one layout. On that layout I want to have 2 viewports. I also have ssay block A and block B I want to insert.I would like Viewport1 to display block A and viewport 2 to display block B.
What happens to me is when I created Viewport 1 and inserted block A. I go on to create viewport 2. But viewport 2 displays only block A, which I cannon delete to insert block B.
I wrote a program to separate drawings with multiple layouts into several drawings. The problem I'm running into is even though there is only one viewport in the layout.the program is finding two. One has the right viewcenter, width and height the other is wrong.

However that panning is limited to the active viewport, 1 at a time by double clicking in the viewport. Is there a way to apply -pan to a number of viewports, say I want to move all the model space irrespective of scale 300 mm to the west or 100 mm to the north in more than 1 viewport.

Under View Tab when I go to choose different Viewport configurations sometimes some of the views change to isometric view. I don't know how to change it back to 2d view.
They mension something about viewport control lables which should be in top left corner, but I don't see those in my viweports.
Is there a way to copy a viewport with all its layers setup from one drawing file to another drawing file?
I can copy the viewport and activate it, but the layers setup for that viewport goes to default. So it turns everything on.
I can't make a layer state in the old file and import in new file, because the new file does not have all the same layers. So not all my layers would be turned off in the viewport.
I am creating plan sheets and using the sheet creation tool. The plan sheets I am looking to make have stacked view, similar to a plan and profile sheet, only they have the horizontal alignment in both views.
I have a template set up with two viewports, but when I try to create the sheets it puts the same view frame in both of the viewports. Is there any way to set this template up so that I can have, lets say, STA 100+00 - 110+00 in the top viewport and then STA 110+00 - 120+00 in the bottom viewport. I understand that I can move the viewports once they are created, but I would rather have that done automatically. I am not sure if what I want done is possible with Civil 3D.
I am trying to learn Annotative text using multiple viewports. My question: I have text in Model space with Annotative scales to match two different viewports in layout space. Sometimes the text or dimensions for that matter appears in a different place in the two windows. What gives?
View 7 Replies View RelatedEvery once and a while when I open up a dwg, autocad will load with what looks like two viewports in my model space tab. The bottom viewport is not clickable and the top viewport is very thin and is the one I am able to move around in. I would like to get this to stop.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am currently working on a .DWG in Civil3D which has 12 viewports. This particular .DWG causes my computer to lag quite a bit. I was wondering if there was a way of combining viewports in paper space (i.e. taking areas from multiple viewports and displaying them in one viewport), or if I am stuck with the individual viewports? I am just looking to speed up the process, it takes a long time to load the .DWG and work within it, the problem happens to others as well.
.DWG info:
Large area with many smaller sites (retention ponds and such)
All sites must remain in the paper space layout
(I've tried deleting viewports, and that does speed up the process, but again, I need to keep all sites intact).

I have two viewports, one that is not rotated at 1:50 scale, the other rotated at 1:20 scale, and using associative dimensioning, therefore viewing the same model object with two associative scales. The rotated viewport is showing the dimenions upsidedown since it is rotated more than 180deg. If I modify the dimension properties to Left to Right instead of Right to Left, it rotates my other unmodified viewport. The only way right now to have the dimensions showing properly, is to print the first pages with the unmodified viewports, then modify the dimension properties, and then print the rotated viewport pages.
View 0 Replies View RelatedIf I have UPSFOLLOW set to '1' when using multiple viewports in the workspace when I click from one viewport to another it refreshes the viewport that I'm leaving with the setting of the viewport I select. If I set UPSFOLLOW to '0' it doesn't happen. Is there a way of stopping this happening without having to keep changing the UPSFOLLOW setting i.e. have UPSFOLLOW set to '1' and the viewports not change when swapping them?

I'm now going to add my text and dimensions im model space....and that's when the problems start!
I've created text and dimensions in annotative style.
The issue I have is when I change annotation scale from 1:50 to 1:5 my text and dimensions in model space automatically changes (as can be seen on attachment) to a huge scale but is perfect in layout view for differing scales.
I'm creating a drawing set that has over 100 sheets with varying amounts of viewports on each sheet (from one to four). Each sheet is its own file, so there is only one layout per file. For each section of the drawing set, the viewports will have the same layer state.
Is there were a way to update the layerstate of each viewport through a batch LISP routine? This would save me DAYS in opening each file, importing the layer state, and restoring it for each viewport. It seems straight forward, but I have no idea where to start with batch routines.
I have just installed 2012 and have drawn a 3d model. In paperspace i have a couple of viewports , all nicely set out at 1:5 scale. then i click in another viewport and bam, all the other viewports change scale (zoom out) and orientation. is there some system variable that i have overlooked?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have used annotative text and selected yes for match orientation to layout for the text. In the viewport it is rotating automatically with the view, however the boxes around the text do not rotate as well. Is there anyway to automate this?
The Client requires a key plan which has all the pipe data on it. The key plan is oriented in one direction. Then for the plan & profile drawings, the plan is oriented in another direction. I don't want to have two create two sets of text (one for the key plan and one for the plan/profile drawing). How can I use one set of text and make it work in the key plan and for all the plan/profile drawings? Image is attached.
The code I'm using is supposed to go through all of the layouts and freeze the specified layer in the single viewport that is defined on that layout. It works for some viewports, but not for others. A "List" of the objects show the viewports are the same. I have a LiSP routine that gets me more info about selected objects. The first is a viewport that does not freeze the specified layer, the second does freeze the layer. Here is the code I'm using:

How do i disable regen and stop autocal lt 2007 regenerating layout and model space when opening drawings. This is a pain when opening and saving large drawings to older versions.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAttached is a drawing containing a big rectangular lwpolyline and two relatively small lwpolylines near the drawing origin. One of these smaller plines is on a layer that has a dashed linetype associated with it. That layer is also red. When I zoom in on that pline, however, I won't see the dashes unless or until a regen occurs. As of this writing, after trying a few things, I'm almost resigned to including a note telling the client they might have to REGEN in order to see non-continuous linetypes display properly.

I often need to work on big drawings having utility networks, topographic surveys and properties. Whenever using FIND command in such a drawing AutoCAD regens the drawing. This happens even if FIND command is cancelled and takes 2 to 3 seconds everytime. Can I disable this automatic regen and do only when I need.

I am using Cad11, VS10 with VB.NET.
I have a simple function that breaks down the file name and populates 3 fields with the correct names. In my template they all get changed correctly, but when I make a new .dwg it takes a few (hopefully unnecessary) steps to get them to change. The very 1st time opening Cad, the fields do not get recognized ( !fieldname1 returns a nil). If I close the .dwg and reopen it the fields pull the correct value but do not change in model space (ex -- !fieldname1 returns 12345, but model space is still showing 54321 in the field). In order to get the value to change I have to type the Field command in Cad, I don't have to do anything in it, I can immediately close the Field form and then do a regen to get model space to show the correct values.
My idea was to hard code in the Field command and hope to be able to close that before the user knows it is even open, but I still don't think that will solve the 1st time Cad is opened problem, and I am having no luck with getting that lisp command to run (like it said, very limited experience with it). It could just be the syntax is wrong since it is so simple but here is what I thought would work.

I have a thisdrawing...("!fieldname1" & vbcr) that correctly returns the value in the command bar right above this.
In the command bar 'field' shows up but the form does not open.
After I edit a block in the block editor, It regens to a blank black screen. Then I have to zoom extents and zoom back to where the block is. Is this normal? I would think it'd be better if it just put you back to where you were working. I understand the regen probably is necessary to change all the blocks that need to be updated. Just wonder why it puts you to a blank space.
View 7 Replies View RelatedProblem: occasionally when I copy an object (text, polylines, blocks etc) and then paste, it appears as though nothing has happened. However the object is copied, it is simply not visible. If I then regen all entities also vanish. I can save and reopen the drawing this fixes the issue. For me this is fine, but it is happening to others multiple times in one day.

I guess maybe it is related to special drawings, because it only happened when working with the drawings which was transferred from an .iges 3D drawing.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHaving a small issue with Civil 3D 2013 recently ( I think). The last month or so, it's been automatically running regen when I open a drawing. No problems there, where the problem comes in is if I open an exported drawing (from this computer) or a drawing from someone else computer any polylines in the drawing vanish.
I can just run an undo to get the polylines back, but any time I paste something into the drawing all my polylines vanish again. So my fix at the moment is to undo the regen, and then copy and paste my drawing into a new drawing.
Is this just something corrupted I need to do a reinstall to fix, or is there something I might be missing?
EDIT: Also thought I should point put that I'm using an Nvidia Quadro 600 video card running the latest drivers. I have not installed any patches or hotfixes for Civil 2013
What would cause AutoCAD to choke, ONLY when viewing a model from one direction? In my case, it's the right view, and it doesn't matter how I get to that view, ie "view, right" or "dview,clip". Views from other directions regen almost instantly, but from the right takes a full minute, while Acad tells me up top that it's [not responding].
Issue is only in single dwg. Tried audit, purge, etc. Wondering if there is some obscure (dwg specific) system variable causing this, before trying the WB to get rid of an offensive entity.
