AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Resize Viewports Across Multiple Layouts
Jun 25, 2012
Any routine to re-size viewports in multiple layouts? We have to re-size viewports as they were created a little too small and are now spread across almost 1000 drawings in 18 dwg.

I have a csv file that has the drawing names and their layout names listed in columns A and B. Before I begin a project, I have to create the Sheet List (in Excel) and the csv file. The csv file is needed because I have a lisp routine that reads the csv and updates all my Title Block attributes in all my drawings. (VERY sweet program) What I'm wanting to do, is create new layouts (using my dwt) based on the information in the csv file. So, when I start a new project all I need to do is create the base drawing files first. Then, in my csv file I've got those drawing names listed in Column A and their corresponding sheet titles (Layout names) in Column B. I run the lisp and it reads the csv and creates layouts in all those base drawings and naming the layouts with the sheet titles from column B.
Column A Column B
DRAWINGS SHEET TITLES
drawing1.dwg A100
drawing1.dwg A101
drawing"n".dwg "n"500
Etc, etc.
I'm needing a way to automate creating hundreds of layouts at once. (very time consuming). So the lisp has to be able to read a csv (or Excel--doesn't really matter) and create new layouts (using my dwt) in as many drawing files represented in column A. [and filtered so it doesn't create duplicates so I can run the routine at a later date when new sheets are added to the drawings] Captcha?

I'm creating a drawing set that has over 100 sheets with varying amounts of viewports on each sheet (from one to four). Each sheet is its own file, so there is only one layout per file. For each section of the drawing set, the viewports will have the same layer state.
Is there were a way to update the layerstate of each viewport through a batch LISP routine? This would save me DAYS in opening each file, importing the layer state, and restoring it for each viewport. It seems straight forward, but I have no idea where to start with batch routines.

I dont like to have Layouts Tab (Model, Layout1, Layout2,...) on bottom left side of AutoCad and I prefer to hide it.
Is there any system variable for that purpose? I just hide it via lisp only:
(vlax-put-property (vlax-get-property (vlax-get-property (vlax-get-acad-object) 'Preferences) 'Display) 'DisplayLayoutTabs 0)

As you smart individuals can figure out, we do up drawing packages for construction that consist of several drawings, hundreds of drawings, for several modules of construction. Our process usually consists of one layout per drawing, so that the lisp guy can do a drawing count and put in sheet numbers based on how I manipulate the list of drawings in the one directory folder.
Now I have a client, despite the way we currently do things, requires that about 70% of the drawings will have multiple layouts. Now we're back in the stone ages, manually putting in sheet numbers, eating up our budget for this contract.

I am looking for a lisp that will rename all the layouts automatically. I tried the Layoutlist function but the output is not in order. Is there anyway that i can get all the layouts in a drawing from left to right order. for eg. i have layouts from layout1, layout 2........layout10). The layoutlist returns as layout1,layout10 etc...instead of layout 1 layout 2.

I have a specific problem with renaming layouts. I found some similar lisps, but I just could not make them work.
In every layout I have following attributes.
PROJECT: 306
PHASE: RD
OBJECT: A0101
PART: EL
DRAWING: 611
ZOOM: X
REVISION: 01
I need to rename every each of layout using those attributes. Layout's name should look like that: "306_rd_A0101_el_611_x_01" . "rd", "el" and "x" must be written using lowercase.

I would like a routine that will determine if 'Page Setup A' is in the drawing and if so, apply 'Page Setup B' to all all layouts within the drawing. I would like to have it run upon drawing open in the ACAD.lsp
Basically we've changed our master page setup names, and now when a user switches to modelspace then back to paperspace the layout loses its configuration.

Is there a lisp for automatically draw a pline in model space of the projection of all existing paper space viewports, without need to select one by one? It will be also interesting if the lisp automatically create a specific layer like "ProjectViewport" to draw this plines. I am working with autocad 2009.

Here is the lisp I am attempting to use:
(defun c:ada ()(setvar "cmdecho" 0)(command "-layer" "t" "*" "on" "*" "s" "0" "f" "*" "t" "*ex_*" "t" "*all_*" "t" "rev*all*" "t" "*prop_*" "f" "*geo_*" "f" "*util_*" "t" "*grd_*" "t" "rev*grd*" "f" "*z_*" "f" "alt*" "f" "*grd_elev*" "")(command "_vplayer" "f" "*grd_elev*" "c" "t" "*grd_ada_*" "c" "" "") (setvar "cmdecho" 1))
The purpose is to show the proposed grading plan at a smaller scale so that we can give detailed grading plans to meet City Regulations per ADA codes. I understand that this can be accomplished by blocks and attributes, but when you have hundreds of spot elevations that can become cumbersome and less customizable than mtext. The large scale drawings can not have all of the spots shown or it would be too cluttered. But I want to be able to see all of my elevations when I am working in model space to ensure that all of my leaders and spots move together.

I have a problem that I cannot seem to solve. I have a drawings with a whole bunch of layout tabs that have a few viewports in each tab. One of these viewports on each layout tab is on the layer VIEWPORT. I did this so it would be easy to filter out the other viewports in the drawings. I am using the code below to change all of the viewports with the layer VIEWPORT to the Custom Scale 0.020833. This works for all of the layout tabs except the first tab. It will not for some odd reason work on the fist tab.
(setq vieportfilter (list (cons 0 "VIEWPORT")))
(setq ssetvp (ssget "x" vieportfilter))
(setq cntrp 0)
(while (< cntrp (sslength ssetvp))
[code]..........

I need to select all the viewports in the drawing and to make some changes with them, I'm planning to select them all with ssget command. If I do that I will have one viewport for the paperspace itself in every layout. One of my question is, how to know which viewport is the paperspace itself?
Second question is, how to get the name of layout in which one is the viewport? It is important to me that the lisp is really fast, so I'm planning to do the most of stuffs with vla commands.

I am in need of a LISP to freeze layers in viewports on named pages. I found the following functions to return the frozen vport, but it only returns the list of already frozen and it only works if the viewport is active; besides just listing the frozen layers isn't enough. I need to be able to supply the page/tab and a list of layers to freeze.
; by Jürg Menzi 1999(DEFUN GetFrozenLaysInVport (/ LayLst) (FOREACH memb(GetMviewInfo) (IF(= (CAR memb) 1003) (SETQ LayLst (CONS (CDR memb) LayLst)) ) ) (REVERSE LayLst))(DEFUN GetMviewInfo (/ ActVpt CurSet IDX RetVal TmpVal) (SETQIDX TActVpt (CAAR (VPORTS)) ) (IF (OR(= ActVpt 1)(= (GETVAR "TILEMODE") 1) ) (SETQ RetVal nil) (PROGN (SETQ CurSet (SSGET "X" '((0 . "VIEWPORT")))) (WHILE IDX(SETQ TmpVal (ENTGET (SSNAME CurSet 0) '("ACAD")))(IF (= (CDR (ASSOC 69 TmpVal)) ActVpt) (SETQIDX nilRetVal (CDR (ASSOC "ACAD" (CDR (ASSOC -3 TmpVal)))) ) (SETQ CurSet (SSDEL (SSNAME CurSet 0) CurSet))) ) (SETQ CurSet nil) ) ) RetVal)
Is it possible to provide the page/tab name and a list of layers as aguments to a subfunction that could either activate the viewport and freeze a list of layers, or simply freeze the layer list for the named page's/tab's corresponding vport.
Important: most of my pages/tabs contain at least two vports. The largest of the two vports is the only one I wish to change, but if the layer list is frozen on all vports (per page/tab) it will make no difference because the smaller vport only requires that layer 0 is visible.

I have a lisp I use to calculate the area of an object. The section below is the area part of it:
(setq ojt (entsel "Select object to get area of... "))
(command "area" "o" ojt)
(setq oarea (getvar "area"))
I want to modify it to add the areas of multiple objects. Unfortunately it is not as simple as;
(setq ojt (ssget "Select object to get area of... "))
(command "area" "a" "o" ojt)
(setq oarea (getvar "area"))
So how would I go about doing it?

i am wondering if it is possible to alter a specific attribute in cca 250 files? I have this template which has like 50-70 attributes, but not all of them are used. I have to change only one attribute in all of the files. For instance, i have an attribute with a specisfic tag, but the content of it is ie MARK, i want to change MARK to PETER, without having to open, click, retype, save, close every file. Is it possible to automatize it somehow? maybe lisp, batch or even VB?

I have been using to copy multiple objects from x-refs. The problem I'm having is that when I have the user input prompts in a macro i can screw up the command if i accidentally miss picking my selection set. I'm new to LISP and having trouble with selection sets and selection filtering.
On another note: I'm trying to rename layers copied this way to remove the "$0$" and using the rename command swapping $0$* with * works, however in the -rename command it does not.

I'm using a Lisp which searches a certain folder and then updates all blocks, which are nested in that folder.
My issue is, that I'd like to use more than one folder on different path, where the LISP can search for this files. Is there a way to use multiple search path?
The code I'm using now to search for the blocks is: (setq dir "I:\AutoCAD Blöcke\Template\Support")

I have a lisp routine that gathers all xrefs from the current drawing and creates a script that opens each xref, runs specific commands then saves/closes each drawing. Once all commands have been ran in each xref I would like the script to reload all xrefs in the original drawing that the script was called from. I have a reload-all lisp that is already loaded in all of my drawings but for some reason when this command is called at the end of the script it will not run.
Is there a way to have the script continue to run in the original drawing that it was called from? Or maybe even pass control back to the lisp that created/called the script? Its seems to me that the easiest thing would be to have the script continue to run after it has gone through all of the specified drawings but this is not working.
